alphawave1 Posted January 15, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2023 On The Radiance on Jan 30th. Anyone try out their casino lately? Last time on a cruise (Liberty) the slot machines seemed very “tight”. Someone somewhere on these boards said that the consensus on their ship was that the slots were paying out at a higher overall percentage. Can’t find the post to reference, but this person said moderate payouts were common. Was this anecdotal or was actual math applied? Anyway, curious here. CruiseMomTX Posted January 15, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2023 We are just off the Adventure and didn't see any big payouts but did hear about a few hand pays. I think in the end we donated more than we won, lol. We are going on the Radiance on Feb 27th for the first time so would love to see your thoughts/review/pictures on your sailing and how the casino is. Enjoy your cruise!! pittnh Posted January 15, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2023 Please tell me the slots are cash only....I hope they don't let you put in your SeaPass and charge your room account for your casino gambling. I know someone in our traveling party who could get in trouble with this...

I am not 100% sure but I think the machines take both cash and sea pass card but I could be wrong.

joeyancho Posted January 15, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) Casino odds: Las Vegas = good Indian casino = bad Cruise ship = ugly There is no governing body that dictates the minimum returns that the machines must pay back to the player. Therefore they make their odds, which always favors the house. My best friend is an avid, big time gambler, often betting thousands, will not go near the ship casino. Tlbecker1 Posted January 15, 2023 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2023 We are on the Radiance for a B3B and the casino hasn’t been good to us. It is extremely Smokey and they don’t seem to care if folks are smoking in the non-smoking area, which is only 1/4 of the casino. We will enjoy our $8 each week, but that is it. sdear Posted January 15, 2023 #17 Share Posted January 15, 2023 I have both donated, and won alot. One time my husband went to the cabin to use the restroom, so i put 40 dollars in a video poker and hit a royal flush ! Met him in the room with 4K cash ! He locked it in the safe and changed the combination 😞 We were on Allure recently and had decent luck in the casino. 1

Ret MP Posted January 15, 2023 #20 Share Posted January 15, 2023 I win EVERY time I go to the casino. Yep, I go to the ATM machine and I always get money out. I'm guessing here that if you are a lucky person, like my wife and win often, you think the slots are loose. If you are the unlucky type, like me, you think they are very very tight. I don't think you will ever get RCCL or any other cruise lines to tell you what their actual slot odds are (not that I've seen) and if or how many times they change the odds or when. Places like Vegas are tightly controlled by the State Gambling Commission or whatever it's called and the odds are published publicly.

normannna Posted January 15, 2023 #22 Share Posted January 15, 2023 If you play and qualify for a certificate, can you take multiple lower certificates or do you have to take the certificate for a cruise that equates to your total points? Also if you have a comped cruise and have free play is there a strategy people use to keep as much of the freeplay winnings as cash if you're not feeling lucky and would rather just keep the cash to offset previous losses a little? Rare John&LaLa Posted January 15, 2023 #23 Share Posted January 15, 2023 The Casino isnt there to lose money. On the contrary, they bring in a ton of revenue. YMMV, but most folks walk out with less, some a lot less.

It's really easy to pull $500 or $1K at a time.

But, we never paid a % either. Just wondering because we won't always have large amounts of OBCs. May possibly change how much cash we bring onboard. I absolutely hate carrying cash (tip cash excluded) especially now that it isn't necessarily needed, except now that I find out I may have to for the casino.
