VIFP Offers. Only Australian Offers, never Casino. Why?

Hello there fellow cruisers, I have a question I am hoping someone can help me out with.

I’ve been cruising Carnival for about 10 years and am 8 sea days away from Diamond. When we cruise we spend a little time in the casino and over the last 2 or so years, I’ve gotten braver, even having won a couple big jackpots on the slots.

My last cruise on Carnival was in October and I spent quite a bit in the casino, and left thinking “I’ll get the free cruise offers”, but I’ve gotten nothing. The only offers I get are the regular VIFP offers, but they are all for Australian cruises. Rarely ever do I get anything for US sailings, and never anything for free.

Am I doing something wrong?

Random is random?

You cruise and gamble... why offer you free stuff if you already supply cash?

Like land based casinos those that visit and gamble more frequently get less offers than those that visit occasionally and gamble less.

Sailin_Pirate, sorry to blow your theory. Sailing Carnival for almost 20 years and not one casino offer. I don't gamble and my wife does very little, maybe $100.00 a cruise

That is very odd.  I would reach out to them (I believe it is Carnival Players Club, but someone else might be able to supply the contact info) and see why you are not receiving any offers.  On your last cruise, did you not get a certificate in your mailbox for a free cruise?  If not, then check with the casino host on your next cruise and see what you can do to start receiving the offers.

Yeah,  you knocked my random is random theory out of the park.

Thanks

And my land based "theory" is based on factual knowledge on how it works.

I get casino offers and I don't even gamble everytime I'm on a ship.

I just blew your I blew your theory apart.

If you "earned" more than 5,000 points on your cruise (if it was a short cruise I think it would be less points)  you would get what they used to call a "bounce-back" offer of a free cruise if booked within a certain amount of time - like within 2 weeks of getting off ship.  There would be a flyer/letter from the casino left in your cabin mailbox.  On my last cruise I received it as an email also, and constantly receive offers (free suite, free balcony, free Oceanview, free Australian cruise, premier, ultra, etc.) literally everyday.

It not only goes on how much you gamble or win, but on time spent, dollars in, etc., from what I understand.  You can always call the Players Club and inquire.

We sailed the Horizon in August.  both my husband and I gambled each night.  He won, I lost (not big maybe $400) and I get casino offers all the time.  Free inside cabins, or $1,070 off rate plus $1500 onboard credit and DOU when playing.  Plus all the Australia offers.  We do not have anything else booked so maybe that is it.

I have tried to find patterns within everything you all have said above, and there just are none. Like the OP, it has me baffled - to put it mildly. It irks me to the point of distraction on some days, lol. I love the casino but am not a "high roller" by any means. I'll drop maybe $300-400 depending. That part stays consistent. But I have had several cruises booked, I have had no cruises booked, right now I have 1 next month and the next Carnival cruise booked after that is more than a year away.

Like the OP, I get offers -- but not even CLOSE to what so many seem to get. Carnival is absolutely determined to get me to sail from Australia for some unknown reason, and those are the only real "offers" I get aside from the "hot streak" offers that are so lame. Definitely no free cabins of any kind. It makes me absolutely nuts when everyone and their grandmother keep posting about free balconies and whatnot, especially all the recent offers. 😕

I’ve cruised 7 times last year.   This year, so far I have 3 scheduled within the next 3 months.

I have been getting casino offers all this time.  Free inside and ocean view.  No balconies.

Therefore, I don’t think it has a lot to do with having some already booked.  Because I have them and I’m still getting offers.

As pe4all said, how much time you spend in the casino matters.

Also, I check offers a few times each day.

I recently received an ultra offer. Never even went on a premier  before so I’m not sure why they sent that Ultra.  We paid full price for the balcony on MG, received NO fun play, only drinks in casino. Not really a good deal but I’m dragging DH on the ultra just to see what it’s like.  Maybe I will score an elite offer 🤷‍♀️ someday.

I hope you get some offers soon.

I've only taken one Carnival cruise & I just booked Feb 2025 on an Elite New Zealand cruise. Free Balcony, free play, Drinks on Us. I do have a Premier AUS offer, as well as 3 other casino offers.

Granted, I did my homework before our first cruise & earned 36,000 points....But I just booked 3 cruises in free suites with free drinks throughout the ship & $1000 in free play.

Updating to say that I did just get an email the other day saying that Elite cruises are opening up to me tomorrow. Need to figure out what they all come with 🤓

I don’t think that’s right about land based casinos.

As a degenerate gambler, I can tell you this is incorrect.

As play diminishes, so does your offers. Play more, get more.

I have Diamond Plus status with Caesars Rewards land casinos, I get offers of free play, free hotel nights, and free gifts so it's just not true they won't send offers.

I signed up for VIFP and uploaded my rewards card, no offers for cruises yet, still waiting.  It's fine, I get free offers for cruises at the land casinos, I'll use those. Right now it's Princess inside cabin free.

My guess in all this is that there is some unknown and undisplayed lifetime or annual point total. We can see our point totals during a cruise, but not annual or lifetime.

I think one trigger would be hitting that free drink threshold where a players club person will come up and give you the card. Their doing that shows you've triggered something, making you "pop" in the system.

As for those who only play a $100 a cruise and get offers, how often over how many cruises? Then it may be cumulative lifetime.

I really think it is very random. I spend maybe a few hundred in the casino and my wife does just $10 per cruise because she doesn't gamble. She gets much better offers than I do. We got 2 free cruises last year from her account and nothing for me.

Do you put your sign n sail card in the machine before playing?

No way it’s random.  Too bad it’s not more transparent but I’m sure it’s an algorithm based on spend, time in casino, points earned, etc.  We get offers all the time with and without having other cruises already booked.  Slot players tend to get better offers than table players - unless that table player is betting $25-$50 per hand for hours per day.  $10 table bets won’t get you much.

I disagree- I never play slots and I bet minimum at table games and my bets are always consistent.  My husband plays the majority of the time at the slots but when at the tables does mix up his bets.  He hasn't received any offers but I get them all the time.....and we have only cruised Carnival twice.

No you don't get casino offers all the time. Specifically with playing tables. And your land base theory is way off as well. The more you play and put money in their pockets, the more they want you back and will give you free plays/rooms knowing you will use your own money and lose.

You have to put some time into the casino in order to get the offers.

We have gotten some pretty good casino offers lately. We gamble a moderate amount. We cruise 3 to 5 times a year and gamble around $4,000 total on average per cruise. The latest offers we have been getting are $100 cabins with $1,500 OBC and Drinks anywhere on the ship.  We have booked 2 more cruises this year and one for next year using this offer in the past week.

Bounceback offers are given to the top 10% points on any given cruise, some cruises that could be 5000 and some cruises 50000.

Offers are as much based on marketing demographics as casino times.  People who minimize their internet presence (using non tracking search engines) can lessen the options for marketing to see them  as potential customers.  It is also possible that people have checked the "opt out" and get removed from sales lists.

Google Ocean Players Club and sign him up for emails.  You can also check on Carnival.com using his VIFP to see if he has offers.
