My wife and I just return from the worst cruise we have experienced on Carnival Cruise Line nothing compares to it. I will give you a brief synopsis of our Carnival Pride vacation.

Arrived on Feb 26, 2022 for 6 days. Once on the ship we wanted to sleep after a long day. We both laid down in the bed, it felt like we were on steel bars.  I pulled back the covers on the freshly made bed to discover both mattresses were so bad. Take a look at the pictures below, this wasn't an honest mistake by Carnival staff but outright neglect by our Stateroom Attendant Syarif. I called guest services dept along with housekeeping.  30 minutes later Floor Supervisor Laura arrived. She looked at the bed and related there's no excuses, she would take care of it immediately.  We waited in our room 3 hours nothing was done so I contacted both departments again. Floor Supervisor Laura came back and explained there were no extra mattresses on the ship. She explained the ship was going to dry dock in a few weeks these items weren't being replaced by Carnival Cruise Line.  She would have to take them from another room. After the ship sailed, she would be able to see what cabins were available.  Guest Services Daniela came to the cabin and confirmed the mattress condition along with the smell coming from the air-conditioned vents.  (it smelled like stagnant water or used baby diaper).  Someone from the mechanical department responded and sprayed air freshener into the vent. That smell continued for 3 days before it was corrected.

6 hours after requesting help the new mattresses arrived it was almost 8 pm. We went to bed when morning arrived, I asked my wife does your back hurt she confirmed it did.  I pulled the covers back and put about 40-50 lbs. pressure on both mattresses my hands went right to the streel supports under the mattresses. I went to guest services after taking pictures/ video of the replacement.  I contacted Guest Services Supervisor Daniela again.  Showed her the pictures/video. She told me I couldn't be moved to another cabin because ship was sold out all empty cabins were for customers joining the ship in our next port.  She also told me there are plenty of mattresses in storage no mattresses were removed from another cabin. I told her who's lying to me you or the Floor Supervisor somebody isn't telling me the truth.  I want to add Daniela wasn't friendly at all, just cold, never smiled or apologized for what happened.  She said it would be taken care of, don't worry.

The 3rd set of mattresses arrived on day 3 of the cruise they were as hard as a rock but I wasn't going to complain it didn't seem to rectify anything so we just sucked it up. The good thing the smell was now gone from the room.

While speaking with Daniela at her request on day 4.  She asked what would you like us to do for you. I told her use your judgement and let me know. She ordered a commentary bottle of wine for dinner (I don't drink wine). She then offered us 1 person free at the steakhouse since they were limited to $50 maximum. In the end we order surf & turf at our regular dining table. The lobster was about 3 inches long. It was just not going our way on this cruise.

In closing look at the pictures and be glad it wasn't your vacation.  This cruise was the worst experience we have had with Carnival.

The Pride has been so neglected in the past couple years. It's almost like she was the next ship on the chopping block if the shutdown lasted any longer. Nothing is fun about not getting good sleep on vacation. I feel for ya there! I agree with you that the bed looks awful but disagree it was neglect from the cabin steward. They don't have the time (management's and corporate management fault) or the inventory to just swap out beds. For all we know they have reported the mattress issue their entire contract there.

Really hope the Pride gets the TLC she deserves in the dry dock. She is a great class of ship when in decent condition.

Thank you for posting!  I have been uneasy about my booking  on this ship because of not so good reviews. I know some people just like to complain, however, your pictures actually verify your very valid complaints. I would not be pleased by being offered a single dinner for all of my discomfort.

That mattress looks tortuous!

Am I reading this right?  You were told that Carnival will not be replacing these broken mattresses during drydock

Wow, that Mattress issue would be hard to live with. We were on the Pride in December and I was honestly ready to trash it in a review, but then we came off the Pride and went directly onto the MSC Meraviglia and I was initiated into how bad a cruise really can be. MSC was our worst cruise ever.

To us, the Pride was about par for the new Carnival standard now post covid. Food was not great, but so much better than MSC. Room Steward was way overworked or just bad and did not do anything I asked of him. We were missing a chair on the balcony and he never brought that or ice even though I asked twice. Of course the ship is old, but I still love that Spirit space per person that no other class has.

What floor were you on?  We went on the Pride this past summer and the sheets were not changed between sailings.  They were visibly (to the naked eye) dirty.  We had to ask/call multiple times spread  and finally go to guest services and get the head of housekeeping involved JUST TO GET THE SHEETS CHANGED.

There have been multiple people who have sailed on Pride over the last year and commented on issues with it. Fortunately, I have not had those issues on ANY other Carnival ship or sailing.

We were on the Pride for January/February with a total of 8 people. We had 3  balcony cabins in different locations. No one complained about the mattresses or the cabins not being clean. No one had dirty sheets. Everyone was happy with the service from their room stewards. Ours was extremely cooperative.

Hi @daveflorida97🙂

Welcome to Cruise Critic. Your 1st post is indeed a disheartening one. Hopefully next month's dry dock (4/26 to 5/27) will address many issues.

I personally refuse to sail any ship 90 days prior to a dry dock, and 90 days after a dry dock.

Your attendant has 35 rooms to clean on that ship.  Who has time to look for socks????  Our mattress in feb was also the worst i have slept on.  They will probably replace them in dry dock. Don’t be discouraged,  you will have good and bad cruises, its just how it goes.
