honumaui Posted April 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2023 All the R class Penthouses are under Deck 9. Any experiences or suggestions as to noise ? Ex. Is it better to be under the Fitness center , pool area or Cafe?
Rare ORV Posted April 19, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2023 There are other options, are any of those open to you?
Condocat Posted April 19, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2023 The penthouses are all on Deck 8. I would strongly advise not booking a suite under the pool area as the crew begins very early in the morning staging this area and pull the lounge chairs across the wooden deck. From past experience, it sounded like chalk on a blackboard.
sunlover12 Posted April 19, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2023 We’ve been under Terrace Cafe and did not experience any noise problems. It was quiet.

Starboard side, under the Terrace Cafe, can be quite noisy at night due to the rolling carts going overhead. Doesn’t happen on port side. The back 2-3 PH-3 cabins aren’t as bad. Forward of that can get noisy.

Sny Posted April 19, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2023 We were just in a PH on starboard, aft, near elevators. A little noise from setting up chairs in Waves in the a.m. Not really enough to give a thought to.
Rare ToxM Posted April 19, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 19, 2023 The best kept secret for PH’s on the R class… 8000 - 8004 - under the card room, near to the lift, next to the officers quarters, 8000 is our favourite as there is a windbreak of the side of the CD’s cabin so no wind on the balcony. If you are confident you can take being near the bow they are a fantastic set of cabins.. even better they are PH3’s so cheaper as well.
Rare cruisingxpert Posted April 19, 2023 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2023 We were in 8044 last summer on Insignia. Never heard any noise and very close to elevator. Great room.
Redtravel Posted April 20, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2023 On many ships, I avoid cabins under the pool deck. Big mass market ships often have big deck parties. On Oceania R ships that isn’t an issue. We have booked deck 8 and never heard noise. I avoid aft cabins due to vibration.
cayman09 Posted April 21, 2023 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2023 We also were in 8044 for 18 days last month. Didn't hear anything and loved the !location right near the elevator.
PhD-iva Posted April 21, 2023 #12 Share Posted April 21, 2023 I’m just back from Sirena two or three weeks ago. PH2 number 8005 was lovely, very quiet. Wonderful cruise!

Different noise conditions exist under starboard side cabins under the Terrace and Waves.

We scored 8006, under the Ladies' Restroom for Insignia's 2024 WB TA. Very happy with that location. Edited April 21, 2023 by marieps

Be aware that 8006 has a connecting door to 8008. Many of us eschew connecting door cabins due to real or perceived sound bleed-through from neighbors. And vice-versa, of course: "Can they hear what we're doing?"
jondfk Posted April 22, 2023 #17 Share Posted April 22, 2023 We’ve been in 8042, 8044 and 8046. Partially under the lavs on deck 9 which means limited traffic and no dragging chairs or carts. The same cabins opposite side are under waves which can, but isn’t necessarily a problem.

Shush - don't let them know about these wonderful cabins! 8046 is our favorite and I don't want to find others discovering these gems....just kidding

I won’t tell ‘‘em the truth if you don’t…
