Another quick Celebrity vs. Oceania price comparison (suite)

We are booked on our first Oceania cruise (on their newest ship, Vista) in a Penthouse 2 suite for February of 2024.  It's a garden variety one week Caribbean itinerary out of Miami.   Out of curiosity I decided to price a similar itinerary on Celebrity...found one on the Apex, and priced a Celebrity suite.

Result:  The CS was $4,000+ more for the two of us!  In fairness, the difference in what's included may be add a few hundred dollars in value to the Celebrity cruise...and the CS is probably a little larger than the Oceania PH suite, but, man, that's a huge difference!

Is that an anomaly or are others finding the same thing?

Does Oceania have non-smoking casino? If so, Do you get a drinks and gratuity package with that suite, please?

I don't know about the casino (this will be my first cruise with them).  My O cruise comes with the basic drink package ($210 pp to upgrade to premium), and my TA covers gratuities, so yes, that is a small difference that goes in the Celebrity column.

Unless I am remembering incorrectly, Oceania does not even have a casino.

Interested in possibly trying Oceania one time. But husband spends a lot of his evenings in the casino so would need to be one. However if X brings carries on with their experiment then he won’t spend any time or £££ there!

Are you trying to make an even comparison? The PH is more similar to Sky Suite than a Celebrity Suite. Those prices are nearly the same.

On the UK sites of X and Oceania, a Sky Suite is £1000pp less than a PH2 Suite on Oceania. And as you say, a Sky Suite would be a fairer comparison cabin wise.

So actually, for the equivalent cabins, Celebrity is 30% cheaper than Oceania.

Wifi - included in both.

OBC - that's valid...just looked, $600 edge to Celebrity.

I am not trying to trigger anyone here...just having a discussion!

Also aren't the Oceania ships much smaller than the Apex?  I think you would be better comparing to a smaller Celebrity ship.  The bigger ships are usually more expensive because they offer more onboard.

Celebrity M Class ships are right at 90k gross tons, Oceania’s largest ships are 67k  gross tons.

Some helpful comments in this thread that have helped me to better understand the differences. Thanks for the input.   I'm still not sure if the sky suite would be too smallish feeling for us though.

You must add SimplyMore if you book after July 1, 2023. This will add considerable costs to a cruise, especially if you don't take ship's excursions. See the threads on Oceania. I have booked the Vista as a cruise only option. That option is now gone.

Their larger ships (Marina etc) have casinos, but I’m unsure about the smaller R class ships. You may be thinking of Viking Ocean, which doesn’t have casinos.

I was on an old "R" ship.

As someone who doesn't go to the casino, drink alcohol or use internet, my questions would be more focused on food and entertainment.   Does Oceana have specialty restaurants with up charges?  What is the  entertainment like?  I have heard the food is much better than what Celebrity is currently serving.

I don’t want to hijack this thread, so I’d love to hear your opinion of the line when we see you two again🙂

Absolutely!
