Rare CruisinShips Posted July 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2023 We are booked on our first Oceania cruise (on their newest ship, Vista) in a Penthouse 2 suite for February of 2024. It's a garden variety one week Caribbean itinerary out of Miami. Out of curiosity I decided to price a similar itinerary on Celebrity...found one on the Apex, and priced a Celebrity suite. Result: The CS was $4,000+ more for the two of us! In fairness, the difference in what's included may be add a few hundred dollars in value to the Celebrity cruise...and the CS is probably a little larger than the Oceania PH suite, but, man, that's a huge difference! Is that an anomaly or are others finding the same thing? 2
39august Posted July 7, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Does Oceania have non-smoking casino? If so, Do you get a drinks and gratuity package with that suite, please?

My O cruise comes with the basic drink package ($210 pp to upgrade to premium), and my TA covers gratuities, so yes, that is a small difference that goes in the Celebrity column. Rare horseymike Posted July 7, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Both very valid questions. Not sure how much longer Celebrity casinos will be smoke free in light of recent developments. 😔
Ex-Airbalancer Posted July 7, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2023 What about Wi-Fi ? And how much OBC is give on each cruise ? Did you include taxes and fees in both price ?
Rare NMTraveller Posted July 7, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2023 We have found similar pricing. I would much rather cruise on Oceania.
paulh84 Posted July 7, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Are you trying to make an even comparison? The PH is more similar to Sky Suite than a Celebrity Suite. Those prices are nearly the same. 6

wineoclock Posted July 7, 2023 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Interested in possibly trying Oceania one time. But husband spends a lot of his evenings in the casino so would need to be one. However if X brings carries on with their experiment then he won’t spend any time or £££ there!

Those prices are nearly the same. On the UK sites of X and Oceania, a Sky Suite is £1000pp less than a PH2 Suite on Oceania. And as you say, a Sky Suite would be a fairer comparison cabin wise. So actually, for the equivalent cabins, Celebrity is 30% cheaper than Oceania.
micruiser2002 Posted July 7, 2023 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Also aren't the Oceania ships much smaller than the Apex? I think you would be better comparing to a smaller Celebrity ship. The bigger ships are usually more expensive because they offer more onboard.
micruiser2002 Posted July 7, 2023 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2023 It looks like Vista does have a casino, not sure about their other ships.
Rare CruisinShips Posted July 7, 2023 Author #14 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Wifi - included in both. OBC - that's valid...just looked, $600 edge to Celebrity. I am not trying to trigger anyone here...just having a discussion! Edited July 7, 2023 by CruisinShips 2
Rare CruisinShips Posted July 7, 2023 Author #15 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) I just looked and yes, the Sky Suite might be the better (fairer) comparison...although they are smaller than the PH on O. Orator Posted July 7, 2023 #16 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Do you have SimplyMore or OLife?

Celebrity M Class ships are right at 90k gross tons, Oceania’s largest ships are 67k gross tons.

Rare CruisinShips Posted July 7, 2023 Author #19 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Some helpful comments in this thread that have helped me to better understand the differences. Thanks for the input. I'm still not sure if the sky suite would be too smallish feeling for us though.
Orator Posted July 7, 2023 #20 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) You must add SimplyMore if you book after July 1, 2023. This will add considerable costs to a cruise, especially if you don't take ship's excursions. See the threads on Oceania. I have booked the Vista as a cruise only option. That option is now gone. Rare TMaine Posted July 7, 2023 #23 Share Posted July 7, 2023 As someone who doesn't go to the casino, drink alcohol or use internet, my questions would be more focused on food and entertainment. Does Oceana have specialty restaurants with up charges? What is the entertainment like? I have heard the food is much better than what Celebrity is currently serving.
