v3cruiser Posted July 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2023 I guess im behind the times and not always following the boards here but I guess NCL no longer offers sea day brunches anymore? There were none offered on our last cruise.
Rare sid_9169 Posted July 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2023 Pretty sure that's a Carnival thing, but I've been known to be wrong...
hawkeyetlse Posted July 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2023 There used to be a Jazz Brunch (for $10 or $15) but I haven't seen it in years. I think the best you can hope for is some kind of themed food event up on the pool deck (like Oktoberfest). Or some specialty restaurants may be open for lunch on sea days (Teppanyaki, American Diner).

NCL usually keeps the restaurants open a little longer in the morning on sea days than on port days, but I don't recall anything special such as a specific brunch menu. Rare BirdTravels Posted July 25, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 25, 2023 I don't know of any brunch lunches.
v3cruiser Posted July 25, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted July 25, 2023 Maybe thats what it was. never had a brunch per say. perhaps breakfast was open later on prior cruises than the recent cruise i was on. breakfast was only available till 9am in comparison to past cruises where it has been open later till 10 or 11 in the main dining room. MagnoliaBlossom Posted July 25, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 25, 2023 On our last CCL cruise, 8 day free casino offering, there was still a sea day brunch. we enjoyed the jazz brunches on NCL many times but it’s been years since I’ve seen them offered. I’d forgotten about them, but the live smooth jazz music was such a nice experience. It was $15 I think and worth every cent. Somewhat reminiscent of Sunday brunch at acoustic of Two Sisters in New Orleans.

Last July we did an impromptu trip to NOLA in July (can you say HOT). Well, I finally got to experience my dream restaurant. Oh my, what a total letdown. They were clearly stretched for staff…service and chef. I’m so sad that many of our finest establishments have suffered so much post-pandemic. MagnoliaBlossom Posted July 25, 2023 #10 Share Posted July 25, 2023 I was raised in NOLA so, especially during my college years, it was a great splurge for us to go there for breakfast. I moved away after college and only visited when DH had quarterly meetings there but we were usually not there on Sundays. Last time we were at the Court for brunch it was still fabulous, with that live jazz band and an endless buffet of glorious food, as only NO can do it, but I cringe to think it was probably 2005 . Ouch! That hurt. So sorry it has lost its luster. I hope maybe Commanders Palace and Brennan’s still have places to celebrate a special weekend.

Well to be fair, we did travel midweek as to avoid over-crowding. I waffled between Brennan’s, Commanders and Two Sisters…and it was for dinner. My kids enjoyed Commander’s Palace recently…and they said it was amazing. Despite the less than desired experience at one place, NOLA, for me, has the BEST food. NYC is nice because it is so eclectically diverse, but it is expensive. NOLA is Cajun, creole at its best and mostly affordable. Okay..now I need to look for cruises out of NOLA.
bluesea777 Posted July 25, 2023 #12 Share Posted July 25, 2023 We've been on 29 NCL cruises and not once did they offer brunch on sea days even on the 6 Transatlantic cruises we were on that had numerous sea days. Not NCL.

Not NCL. The last time I can say I remember it, and understand, my rememberer has been on the fritz for some years now, but I think it was on the Star, Mexican Riviera in maybe 2010. It’s something I can see them bringing back as a specialty meal, it was really delightful.
NW Pacific Posted July 26, 2023 #14 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Yes, many years ago NCL did offer a "brunch". and there was music provided. I think maybe the Star also, so long ago. But indeed it was available for an upcharge.
valleyvillage Posted July 26, 2023 #15 Share Posted July 26, 2023 (edited) Our Star our brunch was an Indian themed buffet. Many of the servers were traditional costumes. They also had music. I think it was $10. Edited July 26, 2023 by valleyvillage
david_sobe Posted July 26, 2023 #16 Share Posted July 26, 2023 I have never known of a NCL brunch. But when I watch Carnival cruising videos, those Sea Day Brunches look incredible. OMG so much food and so much variety of both breakfast and lunch options.
v3cruiser Posted July 26, 2023 Author #17 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Once again, I incorrectly confused the mdr being open later in the morning on past cruises with a brunch. My last three cruises were on Star, Jewel, Star.
