Happy Hour Deals

Last summer for our first post covid cruises with HAL we had the drink package so I didn’t pay attention to happy hour deals.  What is it now?  2 for 1?  Buy one get the second for less?

I searched on here but couldn’t find an answer.

I believe it depends on the ship and maybe itinerary.

On some it is buy 1, get 1 50% off. On the Zaandam in May it was 2 for 1,  and they had Happy Hour at 4:00 and again at 10:00 I believe (was asleep by then). That is the "Happiest" hour offer we have seen in our 5 HAL  cruises since Covid.

It was really confusing on the Rotterdam. Schedule on app showed half off but the printed schedule showed buy one get one half off.  I had free drinks in the casino so didn't test which offer was right.

How did the free drinks in the casino work?

Can you sit at the bar for a bit and relax or you have to be playing at all times?

Can you take a break, sit at the bar and have a drink?

also interested in this!   Particularly if it also applies to table games (I dont play slots) - and if it is only applicable if you play above a certain limit (e.g. $25 per hand in blackjack) or whether it is open to all stake levels

Earlier this month on the Koningsdam, Happy Hour was at 4 pm in the Billboard Lounge and the Ocean Bar.  Drinks were 50% off.

Cruised on the Westerdam in June—didn’t have the drink package but had free drinks in the casino.  One had to be actually playing a slot machine to get a free drink.  Tried to go to the bar for a free drink but was told that the servers would come to me while playing.

Not a big gambler/spender so I’m sure I wasn’t high on their list to keep happy!  Had to flag down servers for a drink.

You get casino offer sent to you by e-mail for various cruises.

yes, I'm aware...

I'm on a casino offer in a few weeks, wanted to know the protocol for the "free drinks while playing",,,and ANY tips to maximize my cocktail fun, while minimizing my casino deposits

Either way I'm sure we'll have fun in their casino, we enjoy craps & black jack

It wasn't actually 2 for 1 - it was 50% off .. there is a difference. Last week on Zaandam it was only certain bars Ocean Bar and Crows Nest 4-5 and Crows Nest only 10-11 (though they tended to shut up before 11)

I am sorry to invade this thread but saw Lissie here and wondered if I could ask you a question about your Cunard cruise Barc-Aust.?

We, and others doing a similar cruise to you last year. I wanted to ask you because you were on that cruise and would have valuable info about the actual visas you needed. Is the below your experience an Aust/NZ traveller.

Egypt - Cunard says they do it onboard at no charge.

Oman - onboard no charge.

Sri Lanka - know that port was cancelled, but what did you do...transit or regular or none?

Jakarta and Bali - ? None needed?

I thank you in advance for any help you could give.

At times in the past, on some ships, it actually was 2 for 1 and they brought both drinks to you at the same time.

In our experience, free drinks in the casino is available at the casino bar when the gaming is open.  ie: If the bar is open , but the slots/tables not yet, your free casino drinks do not qualify.  Most of my free casino drinks cost me more than if I paid for the drink (table games are not my friend, but I still spend quite a bit of time & money at them).

They did Oman and Egypt on board for free , collected the passports and returned them stamped so need 1/2 page each. Sri Lanka was cancelled before we left so I don't know. I left in Singapore but I believe there was something online with a cost for Indonesia . there was also an online health declaration for Singapore that has  probably gone away now. the issue with the later 2 was cunards awful Internet - so try to do these in advance

Can you use HIA on drink deals? I won’t come near my 15/drink limit & I have my eye on some drinks that are over the $11 limit.

If I understand the question, the answer is no. The $15 drink that is $7.50 at happy hour, does not become covered by the Signature ($11) Beverage Package.

However, any time you want to have a drink over $11, you will be charged the difference plus 18% of the difference -- or $4.72 for the $15 drink. I think this is true of drinks even over the $15 that is the Elite Beverage Package limit.
