Does anyone on this thread have independent confirmation? Are we sure we’re not spinning out of control on a bad piece of photoshop? If it’s there, I missed it. If they’ve suddenly decided to sell cookies, $2 is just a meaningless annoyance. It’s not even worth programming a sell key! meb - I Am sure this is a rhetorical question for a few us!!!! LOL The masses getting riled up over something, possibly, cannot be confirmed and even in place.... But I can say that it may work to get a few more people to move to other lines, though... Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 24, 2023 #53 Share Posted August 24, 2023 With all the other $$$ crunching stuff going on with Celebrity and now no gluten free cookies at Al Bacio’s? When I just told my DW, she said I guess Princess and NCL are now our top 2 goto cruise lines and Celebrity just slide down to distant #3. 😂

Somewhere on that boat someone had better have a take-away gluten free cookie available at times other than the very few hours the Spa Cafe is open. The Cafe al Bacio gluten-free cakes are awful; according to my friends who've tried them, much worse than the regular cakes. BTW, if you think the MDR menus look unappealing, just look at them from the perspective of someone with celiac. Glad I've booked business class to Rome since I'll need the extra checked bag to carry gluten-free foodstuffs. I also like the macaroons but usually they're the ONLY decent GF option; sixteen consecutive days is going to be tough. BTW, appears as though they've eliminated creme brulee from the room service menu = zero GF dessert options now. I agree with you about the gluten free cakes. Just horrible. I love the macaroons but after a few days I am sick of them. The Spa Cafe GF cookies are good but they are not open all the time. Creme Brûlée is my favorite. It’s still on my room service menu. I may have to bake some gf cookies to bring along with my gf bagels and crackers! Enjoy your cruise! 1

Last cruise at day 2 I asked if there were any macaroons made. There weren’t but the chef made a batch of vanilla and chocolate and they delivered them to my room. I put them in a baggie and they lasted the entire cruise!
Ocdublin Posted August 24, 2023 #57 Share Posted August 24, 2023 When we were on the Summit last year the cookies were very limited! Some days only sugar free (I don’t think so). I complained and people thought I was crazy! In May we were on the Infinity and there were more cookies, but not like years past. We love the cookies at night and this is a deal breaker. I just have a real issue when you pay thousand of dollars and they now charge you for cookies. What next cookies will one of our perks, like unlimited drinks and Wi-Fi! I sincerely hope this is a joke!
thorntor Posted August 24, 2023 #58 Share Posted August 24, 2023 It will be a cold day when I pay $ 0.40 to hand me a cookie. Guess those staff members don’t get a piece of the gratuities pie? The desserts in the buffet look beautiful, but have less flavor than library paste. So we normally walk out with a couple of cookies. Guess we will have to forage for free cookies in three weeks and if found, fill a zip lock. NO SHAME !

DingoMom Posted August 24, 2023 #60 Share Posted August 24, 2023 On Equinox now, and I regret to inform you that the cookie situation is as reported. I haven’t been by the Spa Cafe to look, but I have not seen any cookies at the OVC ( but truthfully, have not been looking). Will try to check both tomorrow. On a better note, no signs of Vaping in the casino. And the Luggage Valet is back for major US airlines flying from Ft. Lauderdale, although at an increased cost. 8

Luvcrusn Posted August 24, 2023 #62 Share Posted August 24, 2023 I never cared for LLP, but the new CEO has her beat in the outrageous department! She's only a few months into her reign. I can hardly wait to see what outrage is next. Our next booked cruise will likely be our last booking with X if all of these changes stay. Hiking prices and keeping the quality of the product is one thing. Hiking prices and then charging for every little thing is entirely another.😡
Cap_D Posted August 24, 2023 #63 Share Posted August 24, 2023 (edited) Depending on their supplier, but here's one they use frequently, the cookie costs 37.4 cents. https://gfsstore.com/products/675504/ If using frozen dough and baking onboard the price drops to 16.6 cents from a frequent supplier. https://gfsstore.com/products/113125/ The likelihood anyone is mixing flour, sugar, eggs, fat, salt, etc. from scratch is very low. A single Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie trails for $3.19 at some malls, and a single cookie at Whole Foods is $1.50 - $2 depending on location, but less if you buy a package. And if you are a home baker you will know that day old… or even 3 day old… cookies are still good. Even wedding cakes are baked a few days before they are decorated… lol… we are on Silhouette now and all is fine… three types of cookies in Bacio and gelato station empty as usual.

Mr. Click Posted August 24, 2023 #67 Share Posted August 24, 2023 There were free cookies in OVC on the Summit in July. At the ice cream bar and the ice cream is far superior to the gelato. As Elites we each get a free scoop of gelato and it has never been anything special. We are not booked to cruise again for about 11 months so I am curious to see how this turns out. Oh, the $10 burgers did not last too long because no one bought them....
swigso Posted August 24, 2023 #68 Share Posted August 24, 2023 Perhaps they will do away with Al Bacio and introduce Starbucks like hotels that would not surprise me. “ To enhance our valued guests experience and enjoyment they can now enjoy a delicious freshly brewed coffee and other Starbucks favourites “ A fee will be applied. Lavazza is a good quality bean and the coffee (milk) bar as part of the ship is a significant amenity. And, it's kind of nice to have something a little different. My point, badly put, was/is - everything at the Glelato Bar has always been for a fee. X has just added another paid item to the Gelato menu. Al Bacio remains the free option During the morning rush X has been using the Gelato coffee machine to serve takeway coffee often supplemented (at least on Silhouette) with a small selection of Al Bacio's free cookies/cakes. This innovative approach cut wait times dramatically.

If the free cookies are gone from Al Bacio the boards would have been alight with reports. Also there have been no pics showing the cookie jars missing from the top of the cake display. Without any such evidence to the contrary I believe that X has simply added a paid extra ( possibly only on one ship as this bebate is based on just one report) and not removed all the free cookies. Time will tell.
