zumbagold Posted November 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2023 If we need more cash for tips etc. are we able to get it on board? Is there something equivalent to an ATM? Thanks!
Rare JimmyVWine Posted November 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2023 (edited) Yes. On Regal, there were ATMs on Deck 4 where the passengers went to get the tender port launches. Edit to add: We did not use them so I don't know what sort of fees they charge. You might do better using an ATM at a major bank when you are in a port city. mtnesterz Posted November 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 2, 2023 I've exchanged large for smaller bills for tips at Passenger Services. Didn't know there was an ATM. Learned something new today.
candy4040 Posted November 2, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2023 You can go to casino and charge to your room. Then no ATM fees. Up to 1,000 a day.
Rare mk-ultra Posted November 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2023 (edited) As @candy4040 said: casino. If you're looking for low denomination bills like $1 for hand-tipping, the casino cage can be stingy (as in saying "no") if you aren't just cashing in chips or a slot ticket. I usually just hit up my bank in person and ask for a "wrap" of $1 bills. That's 100 singles, and lasts me for a few cruises. Getting cash from the casino charged to the card associated with your cabin has benefits beyond no ATM fees (assuming you pay it off and never carry a balance). You get points. It codes as a travel purchase. Edited November 2, 2023 by mk-ultra

I too always go to my bank for $1s and tell the teller it's for the strippers (I am in my 60s) and then have to say KIDDING!

But...it never seems to last beyond the cruise (or so she says!) 1
Rare JimmyVWine Posted November 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2023 I go to the bank and ask for a bunch of singles and say that they are for Candy.....and Bambi, and Bunny, and Electra, and....🤣
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted November 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 2, 2023 ATM fees on a cruise ship are very high. Unless you have a card that will reimburse you for fees, it is best to bring large bills with you. Guest Services usually will have smaller bills that they will exchange for you. They have run out....They do not carry much foreign currency. (I think...I recall... they helped me out with some YEN).
reedprincess Posted November 2, 2023 #10 Share Posted November 2, 2023 ATM available on every ship, at whatever fees are charged by your bank and the ATM machine. Better, go to the casino and take out an amount against your account. No fees to do so, up to a grand a day or so.. you can cash out at the casino cashier and break down some bills into smaller if needed. And should you be using a rewards CC card for your onboard folio - those would be additional Rewards points on your CC when you pay if your balance. And as always, you can hit an ATM machine in port..

To clarify, is the suggestion that one can go to the casino cage and ask for cash, or is the suggestion that one go to the casino, "buy" chips, don't play any games, and then cash the chips in? Recently on a B2B on the Enchanted. The first week I had a 50 Euro note and asked if they could break it into smaller bills for me. No problem. What would you like? The 2nd week I again ended up with a 50 Euro note to break down. Guest Services told me ..... No they never do that.... 🤷♀️
