Voom internet pre-cruise purchase

Want to purchase internet access pre-cruise on a 8 day cruise coming up.  Any idea what the charge is when we get on the ship if we don't prepay?

Also, I found that if 1 guest, registers 2 devices pre-cruise, it is cheaper than 2 guests in the stateroom, each with 1 registered device.  If this is the case, 1 guest can register his and his spouses iPad device ?

You can use any number of devices concurrently up to the limit of the Voom package - there's no "registration" of a device, the system doesn't distinguish.

The on-board price is likely to be around $26/day

The going rate seems to be around $26.99 per day for one device. This can vary between ships and sailings. I don't know the price for two devices.

So given this, it seems cheaper to signup in the app, and have 1 guest with 2 devices opposed to 2 guests with 1 device each.  Savings is about $80 that route

Yes, that is generally the way to go. Very rarely (probably by mistake), RCI only puts the single device package on sale where two one device packages are cheaper than a two device package.

Biker, who would purchase via the browser based planner, not the app.

$19.99/day (20% off or save more per additional device)

Me with 2 devices - $255.92

Wife and I, each with 1 device - $319

Yes, if you plan to buy for the entire length of the cruise then pre purchasing one two device package will save you money.

Why?

The app may still have issues with properly performing the purchase and it's a bit more obvious what you are doing on a bigger screen (assuming you are doing this on a laptop/desktop) in the planner.

Yes..this is the best way to do it. You will create one login and use it for both devices. IF you try to log onto a 3rd device with that logon, it will just bump the one that was logged in the longest of the original two logged in

Just remember that a single device means one device at a time.  Unless you are both on at the same time you may be able to buy just a one-device package and share the login.

This is the way to go if you both don't need to be on at the same time. You can use unlimited number of devices on the one account but only one device can be logged on at a time.

Cheaper in the cruise planner, unless you have promo of free days or casino discount.  Yes to your second point.  There can be a max of 4 devices to one registered passenger.

It was 28.99 for 1 device per day on the Wonder last week.

If you are Diamond, you get 1 day free, Diamond Plus 2 days free days to redeem once onboard.

If you are sailing with a spouse or S.O. and only need one device, you can use the other persons coupon(s) for additional day(s). For example, if you are Diamond Plus and want to use 1 device per couple. Day 1 and 2 use your coupons, Day 3 and 4 use the other persons coupons. Now you only need to purchase Internet for the remaining cruise days.

Remember you might also be able to use your one device as a hot spot...this works for us when we're in the cabin. We purchase one person two devices and can then have 3.

We are a family of 4.  I have always booked 4 guests and 4 devices so that we can all be online on our phones at same time if we want.  The cost is pretty high, so I started searching/reading and came upon this thread.  Are you guys saying I can book 1 guest and 4 devices and still do the same things we always have?  The cost is significantly less.  Is there a downfall to doing it this way?

Yes you can do the same things as always and there is no downfall. You just all have to share the same user name and password.
