One positive thing about the "Royalization" of X is they are innovators so maybe we will get some new features.  I'm sure they'll do something different with the Eden space as right now its just used as a stage for DJs/bands

LLP had said something along the lines that the tangerine color was not universally liked when it was proposed, but that they went with it.  It certainly works in port and pictures (not sure what else would), and orange is a color retailers use to make displays pop even if the color doesn't actually sell well.  The MC is itself an amortized cost in the loan for the ship, so not a big deal and functionality neat in my view.

Just FYI, the head of ship design has been the same RCCL senior executive for multiple classes of ships at Celebrity and RCL.  It's more a function of do they want to add a feature to an X ship, and probably know would it make money or justify a higher price. https://www.royalcaribbeanpresscenter.com/executive-bio/4/harri-kulovaara/.

And, FWIW, a suite in RCL with all day access to coastal kitchen (Luminae substitute) once drink packages are added still comes out to more than Excel on comparable weeks for a SS or CS.  So, in some ways, it would seem Celebrity still has a way to go to have the same margins as the big Oasis and Icon class ships.

All good stuff.  The MC is the easiest tender platform there is for cruise ships I recently got off the solstice where you had to use a flight of exterior stairs to get from the ship to the tender boat and vice versa, some folks were struggling.  You'd have to imagine in a foggy situation the orange would be easier to spot for regular boats without radar

never been on an ICON ship

(presumptuos name)  but our opinion is  Oasis is not same caliber as E Class ships...we could not wait for our Oasis cruise to end!  It was like spending a week at the local mall with a  food court.

Fully agree.  Whether Oasis or Icon, we can't fathom being on a ship with 5-6,000 people no matter how well thought out the ship design and activities are, and especially being bombarded with "mall" like food, upcharges, and so on.

does not look that bad! It will be easy to spot from shore!

Does anyone recall the big "to do" when Cruise Critic changed its logo?  Folks were generally resistant,  said it looked like a cruise line's logo..Now, it is a non issue and barely noticed!

The name is dumb, the logo is ugly, blue and orange aren't my favorite colors, orange is ugly, it's an eye sore, it's not classic enough, people will confuse a cruse ship with a Microsoft product or Twitter, the itineraries are too short, the itineraries are too boring, the music in the intro video was too loud, the video was too short, the prices are too high, there are too many suites, there are no real balconies, it's tacky, it's jarring, the website should look different, Celebrity is trash....

Exhausting.

Jeremiah, don't beat around the bush. Tell us how you really feel....haha

I was referring to the upcoming ones for the Xcel beginning Nov 2025

The first season of cruises for new ships, not just for Celebrity, but for most cruise lines, are usually 7 nights because those are the most popular. When was the last time a mainstream cruise line sent their newest ship on 10 or 14 night cruises?

Some people might just think Xcel is short for Xcellent.

That's part of the point for sure.  Also, Xcel could be short for "Excel" as in Celebrity "excels" at everything it tries - including food quality and customer service.

😭. Anyone that reads these boards will quickly understand that the new orange X doesn’t stand for excellent.  It’s more likely to represent EXcuses.
