bigal3967 Posted December 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2023 We have cruised many times but usually on Grandeur or Liberty. Looking for tips on interesting things to do on Allure. We are in our 50s, like live music and a little dancing. We are not heavy drinkers but love a good glass of wine and drinks if we are out in the evenings. We also visit the casino several times, in fact this is a Casino Royale comp cruise for us. We are not big foodies and usually eat in MDR. I have already made reservations for all the shows. We will probably stay on the ship while in Nassau but will enjoy a day of beach and snorkeling on Cococay. We are in an inside aft balcony on Deck 12 right now but have a Royal Up bid for an ocean view balcony. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
smokeybandit Posted December 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2023 I wouldn't approach things any differently than any other ship you've been on.
alfaeric Posted December 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Relative to the Liberty, the Aqua Theater is an addition, so if enjoy the shows, you will want to find the time to see at least one of those above the stage and ice shows you may be accustomed to seeing.
Rare silentbob007 Posted December 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2023 My wife and I love when they have live music in central park ... generally a solo classical guitar act or something like that.

taglovestocruise Posted December 17, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Great no charge breakfast at Johnny Rockets. Give the Rising Tides bar a try. If you are Diamond the 2 story D lounge is pretty nice.
neverbeenhere Posted December 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Diamond lounge is now only 1 story. (At least it was when we were there.) Reserve your shows. - or go with showing up 23 minutes prior to showtime.

Last time on Allure they had Chef's Table upstairs and entered from down below.

irishgal432 Posted December 17, 2023 #10 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Go to vintages. They have a nice selection of wines available.
Ocean Boy Posted December 18, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 18, 2023 If you would like a more quiet lounge where you can actually have a conversation without having to yell or strain to hear try the Champagne Lounge on the Royal Promenade. They have all kinds of drinks not just champagne. The Solarium Bistro is a nice place to catch breakfast or lunch.

bigal3967 Posted December 18, 2023 Author #13 Share Posted December 18, 2023 Thanks for all the suggestions. I have been reading up on other Allure posts and they have been helpful too.
PhillyFan33579 Posted December 18, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 18, 2023 There are a lot of good videos covering Allure on other websites (I have gotten in trouble before for mentioning specific websites).
bigal3967 Posted December 19, 2023 Author #15 Share Posted December 19, 2023 How is the Wi-Fi on the ship. We cruised on Grandeur last year and could not even use it in our room. Took forever to upload when we could find a place to use it.

All ships were transitioned to Starlink which improved speed and latency. Coverage in cabins should be better on Allure vs. Grandeur though that may depend on your specific cabin. NoShoes2 Posted December 19, 2023 #17 Share Posted December 19, 2023 Central Park is always a nice quiet get away.
Rare cruiselvr04 Posted December 19, 2023 #18 Share Posted December 19, 2023 (edited) Park Cafe is a favorite place for lunch especially on boarding day. At night Central Park usually has live music. Allow extra time to get anywhere. It’s a big ship and there are times around dinner and shows when you will be waiting quite a while for an elevator. Unless you don’t like meat, try Samba. We really like it and only Radiance and Allure still have it. Edited December 19, 2023 by cruiselvr04

Rare budmeister Posted December 19, 2023 #21 Share Posted December 19, 2023 The Park cafe does fresh toasted bagels and cream cheese, with condiments - including Lox for breakfast. It also makes breakfast sandwiches and has coffee. I eat breakfast there almost every day and sit in the garden to eat.
Rare budmeister Posted December 19, 2023 #22 Share Posted December 19, 2023 The Aqua show sometimes gets cancelled due to weather, so see the first scheduled one you can get to.

BINGO! We chill on the pool deck during the day. You can do that on Allure (Oasis class). We don't go to the sports deck. We don't do it on the Allure. Don't buy artwork or watches or play bingo. No different. Whats different is it can be a lot more walking. We typically get a cabin near an elevator. That means its a hump to the pool/solarium or its a hump to the dining areas near the back of the ship. That type of thing. Elevators can be an issue when shows let out or around meal times. So you go to another elevator (another hump to the other end of the ship). Personally not a fan of the Solarium on Oasis class compared to Freedom class or the Mariner (most recent smaller ship for us). Many more food choices on Allure (Oasis class) compared to Mariner. Inside aft balcony on deck 12...if it faces the boardwalk then if you're far enough to the back you should be able to see the Aqua Theater from your balcony? If so, that might be fun to watch the aqua show from there. Although i've never done it so not sure if you'll have an unobstructed view or not... bigal3967 Posted December 20, 2023 Author #25 Share Posted December 20, 2023 We just did an upgrade to ocean view balcony (6296) on the 6th floor aft but not far from the elevators. Looks like a good place to be on the ship from what I can tell. Thanks to everyone for the tips. I’m sure it will definitely help.
