vision14k Posted January 26 #1 Share Posted January 26 (edited) So, I’m a bit offended and slightly upset at the fact that NOBODY told me getting a grand suite was the bomb-diggity! First time grand suite-er here on Allure this week, people!!! Let’s just say, I am no longer a “commoner” like most of you. I am royalty and you all can kiss my feet. From priority boarding, to the concierge hooking up every show we wanted last minute, to Coastal Kitchen being amaze-ing all week for breakfast and lunch, oh, and the included drinks and finger foods in the evening were sweeeeeet and our stateroom was gigantic!!! Nightly pillow treats, we weren’t bothered by turning in swim towels, and had amazing seats at the shows. When we are home next week I look forward to calling my new concierge and ensuring they get me into all the sold out places around my town, because I am now royalty and shall not be bothered by lines and let downs. I expect they’ll still take my calls. Craaaaaaap! All my future cruises will now cost me 10x the amount, greeeeeeaaaaaaat! villageidit Posted January 26 #2 Share Posted January 26 Did they provide servants to clear a path through the ship to your dedicated elevator as well? Glad you enjoyed the sweet suite experience. 3
klfrodo Posted January 26 #3 Share Posted January 26 There's a reason we don't tell people about the suite life. Shush! 3
LilBlackDress Posted January 26 #4 Share Posted January 26 When we booked our first GS, I was warned I would never want to look back!! My DH caught the suitebug... I like the suites, but I don't mind being with the commoners. I prefer the OS over the GS but I am happy in a JS
Ashland Posted January 26 #5 Share Posted January 26 Agree...Once we went from a JS to a GS a few years ago we were hooked. Now it's OS for us as often as we can, but nothing below a GS for our suite addiction.

Don't forget to laugh condescendingly to the poor Pinnacles and Signatures that can't get access to Costal Kitchen, remind them that your a more valued cruiser than they are, atleast on this cruise regardless of their status. Tell them also that you have made suggestions to Royal that Suite lounge and Costal Kitchen should always only be for suite guests and no one else 😉🤪😎 PS. This was a joke, so not everyone reports me... Edited January 26 by LittleJoefromKokomo 3
cj_one2000 Posted January 26 #7 Share Posted January 26 Love the suite life, don’t love the price though 🫠 we’ve only done it once on Liberty, a Royal Family Suite. Two teenage boys and a toddler. I needed the space and didn’t want to share a bathroom with the boys 😂

Cruise a holic Posted January 26 #9 Share Posted January 26 Once we tried the suite life on Royal (and Celebrity) we were hooked. Makes such a big difference! Hard to go back to a regular cabin! Enjoy the suite life- a wonderful experience.
Dewaldcruiser Posted January 26 #10 Share Posted January 26 Love Grand Suites on Oasis, Quantum and, I imagine, Icon classes with Coastal Kitchens and free internet. I've tried them on other ship classes, but, for me, it is only worth the extra money on the 3 largest classes of Royal ships.

It's one of the top levels in Club Royale, Casino Royales membership program. High rollers in the casino can earn that level and get comped cruises, access to Costal Kitchen and the Suite lounge among other things.
GimmeOcean Posted January 26 #13 Share Posted January 26 Got a RoyalUp to GS on Anthem and it was awesome. But I suspect that it is going to remain the exception for us.
TeeRick Posted January 26 #14 Share Posted January 26 Just make sure you book a GS on a newer class ship that has CK and a SL. The older ships do not and you will eat in the MDR or you will pay for specialty dining and WiFi too.
DrProfessor Posted January 26 #15 Share Posted January 26 We got a RoyalUp from a suite guarantee to an OS on Jewel. It was a first (and only) time above a JS. I wish I could justify the extra cost now just to get to GS. It was a wonderful vacation but at those rates, we would only be able to cruise once every couple of years. Or maybe we could get an inside room on Icon or Star for the same price these days...

I can understand how there can be variations in suite experience depending on ship as some venues don't exist on certain ships. However, how do they justify the variation in internet inclusion? Every ship has it and you would think that it would be a uniformly included suite amenity.

KSprite01 Posted January 26 #18 Share Posted January 26 Yeah we got a cheapish GS and royaled up to a 2bed GS last cruise on Oasis, which with 2 little kids was amazing. Beyond all the general suite perks (don’t forget beer/wine 11-11), the room was great. No fighting about sharing a bed, our preschooler could nap separate, when one bathroom broke (entire stack on ship), we had a second one, two showers at a time, huge balcony we didn’t use enough, I could pack us out while the kids slept, etc…. Our next cruise is a balcony guarantee so it’s going to be a tough come down to reality. But I’m also not going to pay $10k for it so we’ll just have to suck it up.

Our first family cruise we picked a suite to accommodate a newly-minted 3 yr old. Little did we know that we'd never be able to go back to a non-suite. Fortunately there are still enough suite deals out there to keep costs lower. But they're slowly going extinct.

We are in a 2-BR GS on Independence in 2025. It is really odd that WiFi is not included. I understand no CK on the ship.
LucasLounger1 Posted January 26 #21 Share Posted January 26 Gee that's how I felt going just from interior to balcony! Don't think a suite will ever be in my future, but one can dream!
neverbeenhere Posted January 26 #22 Share Posted January 26 The disease that can not be mentioned brought on the suite life for us. But (There's always a but) I've booked an inside room this year just to mess with the wife's head. 2

Our first cruise after the restart when you could only sail out of the Bahamas, being exposed to covid was just as bad as having covid according to the Bahamas government. My son was "exposed" (he never got it) but he had to be quarantined. It would have been miserable in an interior room or even ocean view.
Rare OCSC Mike Posted January 26 #24 Share Posted January 26 Love the perks that come with Oasis class Sky Class... when someone else is paying. Also love my frugal commoner cruises. Both enjoyable to me in different ways.
