Rare alanstarr Posted April 12 #251 Share Posted April 12 Currently on the Viva, and haven't found cookies anywhere yet. Not in Observation Lounge in the afternoon, and no late evening snacks in the casino either.
IrieBajan54 Posted April 12 #252 Share Posted April 12 Currently on the Viva transatlantic. No cookies available anywhere on the ship and only starting today (Day 6) in the Studio Lounge. It is obvious that executive management relented after many, many complaints from Solos (and rightfully so because it's an expected amenity). However, based on both the restaurant manager and the assistant restaurant manager, cookies have been discontinued in the Studio Lounge. (That's from the horse's mouth at least on this ship) So it is death by pound cake everyday 👎 for those who are willing to eat it (Not me!). NCL knows Solos will eat cookies but providing pound cake is better for costs reduction. 1
goldmom Posted April 12 #253 Share Posted April 12 If you put the plate of cookies on your balcony in the sun, they become nice and warm and gooey. Also, you are not allowed to bring food items back onboard unless they are in the factory sealed packaging. You should have seen everyone scarfing down their "Holey Donuts" as they wouldn't let us bring them on the ship. That said, it's not like they are going to frisk you but if they go through the x-ray machine they will catch them. Not that I'm advocating breaking the rules! 1

I normally eat regular chocolate chip and sometimes white chocolate chip. On rear situations where the cookie 🍪 is not soft, I simply sit it on top of a cup of hot tea and about 30 to 45 seconds it's nice and gooey. In reference to your comparison, there is no "better" because it's a whole lot of sugar, period. Both will give the body a sugar rush. dmwnc1959 Posted April 12 #256 Share Posted April 12 I'm still wondering if the mass disappearance of cookies has anything to do with the fact that they are available on the website to order? 2

Ever since I started cruising (2022 - I know, oh such a long time), Norwegian has offered cookie trays like this one. 5 minutes ago, IrieBajan54 said: I normally eat regular chocolate chip and sometimes white chocolate chip. And a cake like substance. White chocolate chip macadamia are quite good! But a normal ole chocolate chip cookie, Levain style (Manhattan bakery) are the best. Maybe now it's a way to sort of force passengers hands, with reports of cookies disappearing everywhere, that if they really want them they have to actually buy them. It's a shame Norwegian Jade doesn't have some kind of international café where you can purchase sweets and treats. My last cruise has a patisserie loaded with macarons and tons of other cakes and sweets. Edited April 12 by dmwnc1959 1

Sand and Seas Posted April 12 #260 Share Posted April 12 Currently on the Prima. They delivered a plate of cookies to our cabin yesterday. We didn't see any in the observation lounge but we have only been there once during afternoon snack time.

I did not see any in the buffet but it was on the Sky and I mostly just walked through. But I did look at the dessert section each time. Thank you for this information. I will definitely put this down on our notes for our cruise on the Joy in June.

But I guess maybe it's better than nothing? I'm sure a little bit of soft serve ice cream would help. Still bringing my own when I embark next year if they don't confiscate them first! 😉
Rare alanstarr Posted April 14 #264 Share Posted April 14 At the Viva officer's Q&A yesterday,we were told the lack of cookies was a corporate decision. Biggest reason is that, by far, cookies were the food most often found left uneaten on plates in dining rooms and cabins. Contributed greatly to food waste. They also mentioned that if you ask for them specifically, in any dining facility, they are happy to provide them. 1

So, I'm guessing when my cruise comes around a year from now that open and free 'unlimited' access to cookies will most definitely be a thing of the distant past on NCL. I have to say that I like cookies, and have never wasted or left them uneaten on a plate. Even when they're crispy/crunchy and can be used as an ice cream supplement. 😁
dbrown84 Posted April 14 #266 Share Posted April 14 Lucky for me, I'm one of the few that goes to the solo lounge for the pound cake and not the cookies. I'm also one of the few that's not impressed by the coffee machine since it doesn't make just plain coffee

The one on Norwegian Encore looked particularly nice. I'm actually now contemplating a repositioning in 2026 on her when the itineraries become available. But today at the M&G they had Macadamia nut ones, along with the chocolate ones. And Oatmeal/raisin (I think), along with the macadamia ones in the afternoon snack buffet.

NCL is playing footsie with the cookies on the Viva. There was a whole lot of pound cake as usual. So I was in the Studio Lounge about 2 hours ago when the waiter came in to freshen things up. ... so I asked where are the cookies? She said she would have to go ask her boss. She came back with a tray (chocolate chip, oatmeal & raisin, and macadamia nut). Soft and fresh!

ChiCruzr Posted April 16 #275 Share Posted April 16 Here's what I don't get about this entire kerfuffle. People having been saying that cookies are no longer available on NCL, per crew and even Officers. On the other hand, others are posting current photographic evidence that cookies ARE available in the Solo Lounge, Haven, Great Outdoors, et al. Both can't be true simultaneously. I trust the folks with evidence, rather than those relying upon what others (even crew) have told them. YMMV.
