Oh, for the love of Cookies! Say it ain't so...

I would normally laugh at people who have to have specific food on cruises, but my husband absolutely loves cookies and would choose them for dessert over most other things.  Baking fresh cookies for him is the ultimate gift.  He searches for cookies onboard to save for his evening snack in the cabin.  He found them in the casino on the Jade TA in November '23, and I believe they were on the buffet at lunch a few times as well.  You would think he is a hoarder when you see his plate, but he really does finish them by the end of the cruise.  We had an unmemorable Carnival cruise a few years back but he still raves about the peanut butter cookies on that ship.  NCL shouldn't underestimate the impact of having cookies available.

As a side note, my husband grabbed a plate of cookies in the casino to graciously share with our group of four sitting in the bar area just outside Le Bistro.  A bartender came and said we weren't allowed to have cookies here and he has to take them. I'm still not sure if they didn't want them removed from the casino (like they're only for active casino players) of if they don't allow food to be eaten in the bar area.  Either way, we all looked at each other and simultaneously grabbed a final cookie before he took the plate away. Cookies are serious business to some people.

Thank you! I'm so glad you mentioned how you would "laugh at people who have to have specific food on cruises." That's exactly what some folks did when I bemoaned the loss of hash browns, then mozzarella sticks, and now cookies. I don't care about the cookies. They're too crispy - I need a Levain style cookie. Mine are better than Levain, but theirs will do if I'm wandering the Upper West Side and have a craving.

Anyway, folks are constantly on here saying how this decision or that to degrade the cruise experience doesn't apply to them. Someday, it will catch up with them and I hope folks show more empathy to them than they do to others. I'll also admit mozzarella sticks (they were upcharge items) and hash browns won't make my cruise worse. It just won't "enhance" my cruise experience either. And that might make me look at other vacation options. Not yet, but maybe I'll choose Xcaret over a cruise in the future due to the uhhhhh....memories.

Also, I've gotta say I would tell that bartender to go back to making drinks if he tried to take a plate of mine that I'm actively eating from. At the very least, he'd be getting his manager and his manager. Maybe I'm entitled, but no you're not taking my food away. Or, I'd just take my plate and walk away. Just like if NCL ever tells me I can't take away my food, I'll just grab the plate and walk out.  But, that's separate from this conversation. Thank you for providing your experience. That's pretty crappy of that bartender.

Basically, I hope a lot of cruisers here take your first sentence to heart and stop denigrating those who mourn the loss of something that did make their cruise special (as silly as food items may seem).

I, for one, can not wait to go on the hunt for cookies and hash browns in less than two weeks!  (Needed to shout it somewhere…🤗)

Please come back and let us know how you make out.  And have a great time on your cruise!

So if I order these in advance and have them delivered to the room on embarkation day, just out of curiosity are these baked fresh on board or are they from packaged cookies?

Approximately $2 per cookie is no bargain! Lol 😂

Costco now has cookies at their concession that are $2.49 each and they are well worth it for all you cookie afficionados out there!

The chocolate chip cookies I always find on board look just like the ones in the picture.  They're good.  And, they're free.  Maybe you're paying for cookies in quantity and variety?

A kindred spirit!!

I too would openly grab my plate and walk out... but being the a$$ that I can sometimes be... I'd turn to the staff member and say, "If you're feeling froggy... go ahead and jump," lol.

They better not touch the French Fries 🍟.

@OrcaGirl is on the Bliss right now and just reported that there are no hash browns, cookies anywhere. Waffles and Eggs Bennie only in MDR.

This is such a stupid way for NCL to save pennies.  They are denigrating the brand bite by bite.

Who among us would EVER pay that?  There is crazy and then there is this.

I know, right 🤪 just freaking beyond crazy!

And you know what else? There are a LOT of things people buy while on a cruise, or pay for amenities and services that I would NEVER EVER consider. It really is great that NCL offers a service that may add that extra touch someone wants waiting in their room when they embark, or when they call it a day after a hard port visit, or even adds ease to their vacation without having to run around the ship trying to find something when they have a sweet tooth and they are in their pajamas ready for bed.

Sure, I can get better cookies anywhere else in the world, and I’m sure my hometown bakery or Crumbl have much better cookies with greater variety and a competitive price. But it’s my cruise, my money, and my experience. And if I want to pay for cookies on my cruise, that’s my prerogative.

Last night around 9pm, my mom — who fractured her ankle the first night of the cruise and NEVER asks for anything — asked me for a glass of milk and a cookie.

I should have just called room service but I went up to the buffet to ask again if any cookies were available, but no.

And then this morning, I caved and just bought a cookie at Starbucks because I felt so bad that I couldn’t fulfil her request last night.

Consider this.

Many (not all) of the pastries served for dessert look a lot better than they taste.

But the cookies are of a decent quality (certainly not premium quality; I just picked up a few Crumbl's yesterday).

Having some instead of the "fancy" dessert items would often be a better choice.

Crumbl's - that equates to a deposit on a cruise.

As a birthday treat last year I bought myself four of them, not realizing they were an estimated 800 calories EACH. The blueberry cheesecake here was my favorite.

Maybe when they run the reduced deposit deal at NCL.

But, I only bought 4

It was under $20 - gratuity included. (Not 20%)

Crumbl rotates their lineup and it can be found on their website. Chances are the fruity pebbles cookie may not be back around for a little while since this was last July. Sorry. 😢

Ok, this discussion made me put this leftover pack of really nice Christmas cookies among things to pack.

("Leftover" because I have had so many other yummy things to eat. Love them and cannot believe I haven't eaten them already! Over two weeks until I leav though, so by then they may not still be around.)
