@Crusin Karen Hello from your neighbor down the Northway.

I came exclusively from NCL to Princess and enjoy the contrast, sort of more upscale ship, more adult-oriented experience.  Nicer pools and better drink package.

Speaking of which....despite the one-off naysayer, it's a no-brainer to buy the Plus package if you enjoy cocktails.  In addition to the drinks, the Plus package allows you free specialty coffees, water, and juices.

Enjoy your cruise, although your leaf peeping is probably better around Sacandaga!

Love GSL! I’m in Northville and yes, that’s one reason I picked mid September. It won’t be too cold nor too hot and being in the middle of Adirondack Park I have a view of fall colors every year. So I won’t miss/need that.

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the information and tips! I’ve been on approx 45 cruises but I’m as excited about this one as I was about my first one! Very much appreciate you all taking the time to help me. My husband/fellow cruise addict passed and so I’m a bit intimidated. I used to pick the ship and the date and he planned and took care of everything so that in addition to a “new” cruise line has me a bit nervous so thanks for reassuring me. I’m quite sure I will get my $ worth from the drink package! Merci, happy cruising and cheers! 🍻🥂

Have a wonderful time on your cruise!  I’m sure you will enjoy the Plus package.  I’ll be two weeks ahead of you, so I’ll think about you and have a cocktail in your name!  Cheers!

I would say that many if not most cruisers have quite a few more than a couple of drinks!!!

🍷 🍹 🍺 🍸 🧋

There really is no reason for questions... it is easy enough to break down the break-even point.

For each person...  YMMV !

Crusin Karen

I sailed solo for the first-time last March. Sorry folks it was a Royal Caribbean cruise (first time for that cruise line) I had friends on that cruise and thought it would be little easier with friends on board. I sailed again on a B2B in October on a Princess west coast cruise. Both times I did a burial at sea with some of my wife's ashes. After spending so many cruises together, it was very different. I enjoyed the experience, but it wasn't the same. I do have 6 more cruises booked solo, although there will be friends on board all of them. 🙂

As far as the Royal class ships, Enchanted is one, I found the "SeaWalk" interesting. Some find it very intimidating. Make sure you stop at the International Cafe on Plaza Deck 5 and you need to experience Take 5 and Crooners on Fiesta Deck 6.

Have a great cruise.

Thank you for  sharing nasa 1974. My first solo was June ‘23 on CCL Venezia. Husbands sister supposed to come with me but got sick 2 days before.  After decades of cruising with friends and family and my Jim it was all I could do physically and emotionally to board that ship. But I did it just as I’m sure many have before me. No —cruises will never be the same but we are lucky to be able to do something we love and the past cruises will be special memories to pack and take with us. Very excited for this new ship and again, thankful for all your  help and support! 👏👍

Good for you living your best life.  I’m sure your lovely husband would be pleased that you’re back to enjoying cruising.  Jim is still with you and watching over you and right now he’s saying “You go, girl!”  Enjoy your cruise on Enchanted!  Wishing you fair winds and following seas.

If you are not big on shows, and 'partying',  but like to be where the 'vibe' is, and enjoy being at sea,  then you should be very happy!  The Piazza that Princess has is the perfect offering.

Depending on who the band and entertainers are onboard, the Piazza could be LOUD on some nights, and more laid back. (but not a snooze-fest) on other nights.    We have seen everything from 'Rock' band shows to 'middle of the road' bands who do numbers like "Isn't she wonderful" (Stevie Wonder)  and "Hello" (Lionel Ritchie)

The piano entertainer at Crooners will alternate with the band/entertainer on the main level of the Piazza throughout the evening.

Things to note, and enjoy -

The international Cafe. breakfasts sandwiches snacks all day...  This is where you will get your nice specialty coffees.

Gigi's/Alfredos  -  Def. use your Plus Package to get the BEST pizza.  (this. used to be free/included)

Enchanted has The Catch by Rudi, right?   This would be one of the specialty (uncharge) restaurants that you might want to try.

The adult pool area...  The main pool area will be louder, busy, with the huge MUTS screen playing concerts/videos/movies.   (unfortunately, they enclosed the adult retreat pool with cabins, so most seating is on the deck overlooking.)

Princess will have a lot of the same things as CCL - the casino, game shows, etc...

ENJOY!!!

When did they enclose the adult retreat pool? We were on the Enchanted last February and it wasn't enclosed.

Thanks Kaye

Not covered...  but what I call 'enclosed', and not open to the sea view..  as there are cabins on both sides of it.  The open area is the deck overlooking down into where the pool is.

Are you certain it was the Enchanted? The Enchanted's first sailed was Nov 2021. I have Enchanted deck plans from April 2022 and they show cabins on both sides of the Retreat Pool. The Sky from December 2019 also has these same cabins. The last Royal Class ship without the cabins was the Regal. The Majestic as the Hollywood Pool Club in this area which is an enclosed pool.

Yes,  the deck plans show what you describe...  the retreat pool is 'enclosed',  not covered but enclosed, with cabins on port and starboard... the elevator/stairwell in the back, and the bar in the front.

I am not sure what the confusion is????

btw:  Love the REGAL and the open Retreat Pool area and the super nice Sanctuary.

Thanks for the clarification!  Kaye

Since this post is still “active”: does enchanted have shampoo or conditioner in the shower? TIA

Yes, they do. It's not the greatest but it'll do in a pinch.

My husband doesn't care as he'll use anything including bar soap.

Yes, but it’s awful.  Like Dollar Store stuff.  I take small containers filled with my own shampoo and conditioner and put them in a ziplock bag.  Your hair will thank you.

The shampoo/conditioner is awful!  I had fly away hair for ten days thinking I would not have to pack shampoo!!!  It was a bad decision.

The shampoo combo might be great for guys but girls beware!

My hair ran away from home years ago.  It’s too late to thank me.  We’re no longer on speaking terms.

You are so right!.   If I’m having a bad hair day, look out world! lol. My DH has nice shiny silver hair and he takes his own stuff, too!

It’s a very good value.  To those who don’t want it, don’t like it, don’t approve of it, can’t afford it, please stop your constant criticism of the packages.  There are many of us who do enjoy it.  I recently read on these boards that the majority of passengers have one of the packages.

Like you, we love the convenience of enjoying our cruise without having to factor in cost.  And, the Princess packages are the lowest price in the cruise industry.   Win, win for us.  Thanks, Princess!

Criticism stopping on CC, not likely. A good value for some but not for others. Keep enjoying it on your cruises.
