cruisenewb1 Posted February 17 #1 Share Posted February 17 (edited) I’m not American so it will be tricky to get hold of $1 dollar bills before I board. In fact I’ve only got large bills because I used all my $1 bills tipping on my last visit to the US. Edited February 17 by cruisenewb1
yogimax Posted February 17 #2 Share Posted February 17 Easiest place to do this is the casino.

I get $25 in ones every day for tipping, never had an issue.
heatherb1958 Posted February 17 #7 Share Posted February 17 Casino or Guest services, either one will do. You say you are not American , are you from the UK? We saw something in one of our local Tescos last week at their currency exchange booth never ever seen before . It was a sign that said " ask us about our $1 tip packs " !!
neverbeenhere Posted February 17 #8 Share Posted February 17 From my experience, a $50 put into a slot machine will get you singles in no time. 1
SoloAlaska Posted February 17 #9 Share Posted February 17 In Canada it’s not an issue to get US singles from the bank teller but if they don’t have enough it can be ordered in which usually takes 2-3 days. Casino or guest services though will be able to help out.

I have always been able to get ones at the casino cashier, but more than a few times been told by guest services they were out of ones.

Sure, imagine hundreds of people coming everyday and ask for 25 ones like suggested above…

Beachin2 Posted February 18 #15 Share Posted February 18 I once went to guest services looking to break a larger bill into small money for cash tips. Officer at the counter said she couldn't do it - had no small bills. Picked up a dozen or so of her business cards from the counter and told her I was going to hand them out to crew and tell them why they weren't getting a cash tip and suggest they talk to her. Funny how quick my bill got changed.
Rare island lady Posted February 18 #16 Share Posted February 18 I go to my bank in advance for smaller bills before each cruise. And when I cruise in the Med, or other places in Europe...I have my bank order Euros for me in the denominations of my choice. Pretty easy. I should think pax in other countries can have their banks order U.S. dollars as well.

If so, I'd try to make some small purchases from a drug store /grocery store and ask for $1 change. Doing it before you board the ship is more of a sure thing.

Simon It was at the Salford branch. Walkden is our nearest one but you don't walk past the currency exchange booth at that one to exit the store . The sign was big enough so hope you have it at yours tomorrow .
Cigar King Posted February 18 #19 Share Posted February 18 We often travel with friends who are from Europe. Before the cruise we ask what kind of change they would like. We're happy to get the Euro's. Perhaps you can ask someone on your roll call if they would be willing to bring you some change?
