smoking at coco cay

Recommended Posts

In Jan, there was a group in front of us and two of the men lit stinky cigars.  Someone also posted on our fb roll call that there were others on the beach doing the same thing.  Why do they think that's okay?  I don't want to smell that (or inhale it). There are obvious designated smoking areas with benches and usually covered/shaded.  Just because they were outside doesn't mean that smoking can be done just anywhere.

I don't understand why non smokers have to be so mean when answering.  I don't smoke and I have asthma but that doesn't give me the right to be mean or judge what others enjoy. I don't drink but I don't complain about the drunk people.

When I was young smoking was done in hospitals, restaurants and every where in between. Just be glad it's not like that anymore.

To the OP just find the designated areas and stay away from grumpy people.

Probably because the smoke from smoking just doesn't stay with the smoker it drifts into non smokers. I think there would be less of this if there were like smoking boxes where the smoke stayed with the smokers everyone would be happy.

So does the perfume and aftershave that people bathe themselves in daily.   Those fumes are just as detrimental to people with lung conditions as smoking is!

Not a chance. Where is the surgeon general's warning on a bottle of perfume.

I can't smell aftershave or perfume 10 feet from someone, I can smell smoke like 30 to 40 feet away and on ships if you are below the smoking section it goes right into your balcony. They should make it all smoke free.

I used to smoke a lot, but could never do this in enclosed places. For the same reason I hated casinos. So no, not everyone likes to be in “gas chambers”.

I remember there were some places away from crowds … although I noticed that some people go out of their way to “inhale and complain”.

If they were stuck in there with their own smoke they might just decide to give it up. If they are on an island far away from non smokers I don't have an issue. It is just when it interferes with my enjoyment I have issues. I was hoping when vapes came out people would use those instead of cigarette. At least with those it dissipates a lot faster, but even those I don't want to be next to someone doing it.

Who exactly was mean?  People just posted they don't want to smell or  inhale it.  You have every right to complain about drunk people if they are interfering with you.  There's a reason the laws about where people can smoke changed you know and it's not because people are "mean".

Just trying to save their life.  And make it safe and comfortable for non-smokers.  In this day and age- we know the dangers of smoking- respect those who do not want any passive smoke in their lungs.

That is patently false. Show me the perfume-induced emphysema or lung cancer patients. 80% of lung cancer related deaths are thought to be caused by smoking.

This first answer is what I think the OP wanted to know.

I do not think the OP wants my opinion of smoking so I will not give it.

It was kind of an open ended question. OP didn't ask where it might be allowed.

And drunk people act up and make some things very uncomfortable. I'vehad a man walk into me and spill his drink on me. But no one complains. I'm just saying it isn't for us to judged what someone else enjoys. No need for rude comments. I see it more and more on these boards where if an opinion is different there are lots of rude Remarks. I remember when these boards were helpful.
