I’d like your views on your stateroom when you get there for 3.  We’re travelling with our adult daughter on Infinity in November and a little worried about space having previously been in a Celebrity Suite on Eclipse, but, as you say, couldn’t justify the more than double cost for a suite.

We were ready at 5.42…. Unfortunately it’s something called queue in the air😜

So the captain came on to say: “we are very sorry, but as of now we are not allowed to depart from OSL. We have a slot in 40-50.minutes…. To much traffic in central parts of Europe. 

We will push from gate and send a ready message and hope for the best. 

Today’s flying conditions are good, beautiful weather and a smooth flight. Unfortunately not much to do about strong winds, so we will not be able to catch up our slot delay” 

 

Oh well…. What to do🤭

I’m on holiday, not running around today😝

After 25.minutes on the holding area, we were allowed to take off😇

 

Maximus was sleeping as we pushed from the gate🤣🤣🤣

 

Breakfast service started when we reached cruising altitude. 

Scandinavian breakfast and hot rolls were served. 

Crew friendly and easy with making noise and waking up people sleeping. 

 

Around 1h 45.minutes before arrival Athens they had second service. 

A snack service. 

 

Everything on the menu available for Plus guests. 

 

Mr went for the slogan “it’s always 5 0’clock somewhere🍺

A Mikkeller special beer for SAS🤪😝 yep…. (Not my cup of tea 😆 do I know this guy🤔🫣) 

 

Me and Maximus went for the classic Gott & Blandat🍬🍬🍬🤭 

 

We landed in Athen 11.00 local time. 

Luggage was not rapid service…. 😆

 

45.minutes later and still waiting😜

 

Bags 💼 arrived after 50.minutes. 

 

We walked over to the metro station and got tickets 🎟️. 

It’s 9€ each from the airport. It’s an airport tariff, compared to usual tickets in Athen city. 

 

Metro works fine, we changed from Blue 3 to Red 1 on Syntagma. 

We took the red 1 to Omonia. 

 

It was a 7 minute walk from the station to our hotel. 

We are staying at Golden City. 

 

We arrived at 13.15 and our room was ready. 

We booked a big room/family room. 

It has one king and one queen bed. 

A balcony with 2 doors. 

 

It’s a spacious bathroom and it has space to open large suitcases 🧳 

So as a first impression, it’s very nice.

Athens, bring on the sightseeing😅

 

After a little time on the hotel, change of clothes and sunscreen break…. 

It was time to start the sightseeing🇬🇷💙

We left a little after 14.15. 

 

We left from our hotel, walked to Omonia Square (back to our metro station) we need a little snack😋 So we picked up a croissant, water and coffee. 

We continued onward to the meat and fish market. It was afternoon, so I knew it was less activity. 

But Maximus was happy to see all the fish and meat options. 

We continued down to Monastery, our meeting area for our food tour was the flee market sign 😌

 

So we roamed around the neighbourhood, window shopping and just chilling outside. 

We went into Metropolitan cathedral of Athens and Panaghia church. 

Maximus was so surprised to see all the decoration and paintings inside the cathedral and church. (We are Protestant in Norway, keep it simple😝)

At ten to five, we meet our tour guide😎😋😋

It was a group of 10. 

 

We had 5 stops, a ton of food and drinks😋😅

 

It’s Greek 🇬🇷 food

Mr & M was happy camper’s 🥰💙🤭

Fish, seafood, meatballs, raki, dessert, coffee and whine🥂

The tour took 4.5 hours. 

 

After the tour we decided to call it for the day. (We had 3h of sleep, so we are a bit tired 😴) 

 

The hotel itself is very nice, big room, okay bathroom and nice public areas. Downside as of now is the neighbourhood. Several homeless people and visible signs of drug abuse🙄 

Our guide said that it’s in a shabby area…. 

Not dangerous, but a bit shabby.

 It is so sad to see that Mr. is still drinking those IPA's.  I was hoping his cruising drink package would introduce him to better beers.  Oh well better him than me.     🤣🤣🤣

My daughter is just finishing up a 16 night Princess Cruise of Norway, all the way up to the North Cape. She and her best friend have completefallen in love with your beautiful country.

 

So now I get to live vicariously through you until our Oct cruise on Apex to the Canaries and Portugal.

I'd never hand over a bag with things like medicine or electronics/cables.

 

I had a flight with Air Canada where they were asking for people to check carry ons, I stayed silent.

Only time I have is going from my local airport to Toronto. Planes from Windsor are smaller so normally the larger carryon doesn't fit overhead (if you have a wheely bag). So when you go out on the tarmac to board they have a cart to put the bag on and as soon as you get off the plane you get it again.

Cape Sounion is amazing.  I remember when we were driving back to Athens after visiting CS.  We stopped at a cafe on the water and had an amazing meal.  The crazy thing was the kitchen was on the other side of the highway and watching the waitstaff bring over the food was a sight to behold.  It was like the game Frogger, as the staff dodged cars.

Our first visit to Cape Sounion was way back in 1982! We booked two weeks in the outskirts of Athens and visited sooooo many places using public transport where possible. We found a local bus to Cape Sounion literally for pennies…At the first stop after us a lady got on with a crate of live chickens, a couple of stops later another woman got on with a goat. By the stop after that there was no more room on the bus but passengers and animals continued to pile in…You know sometimes you remember the aroma of an experience more than the sight?

We have not slept in today🤣

 

We started our day by breakfast on the hotel, it’s included in the price. 

At 9.00 our guide picked us up 

 

Today’s plan was a tour to Cape Sounion, Poseidon temple and a beach 🏖️ break. 

Our tour was 14 guests. 

Our guide was friendly and did a great job. 

 

We drove to CS first, we arrived before the large buses😎

we had a foto stop in lake Voluligameni on the way. 

 

at the temple we had time to walk around and enjoy the view. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After the temple we drove to a beach. It was a beachfront restaurant, so you could have lunch, drinks or a swim in the ocean. They had changing rooms, wc and fresh water showers for use. 

 

We took a dip in the ocean. The current was strong. But nothing we couldn’t handle😉🏝️

 

After our designated time on the beach, we drove back to our hotel. 

 

As the “good” guy Mr Norwaylady is…. On the way back to Athens at 14.30 he checked FB to see that his wife…. (YES, you know ME🤭 ) has her birthday today🥳 Yep…. It’s a miracle every year🤪🤣😝😅

 

We had a shower and a change of clothes.

Then we walked out for a walk and something to eat😋

We walked to the National library and university. The buildings are nicely decorated. 

 

 

 

 

We walked by a church, it was a wedding going on🤩

 

For dinner we went easy… Souvlaki😋 the Greek 🇬🇷 food nr 1. 

Maximus really enjoyed it😋😋😋

 

 

We continued onward to guard change in the parliament. 

Maximus was really impressed that they managed to stand in the heat and sun😅😎 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After the guard 💂 change we continued into the shopping area. 

We had a freddo & water stop🍹

 

We needed to find a pair of sandals to Maximus… (you know he’s from northern Norway 🇳🇴🤭🙄🤪 no sandals) 

So he found a slippers pair in the shopping area. 

 

As the good wife I am…. Mr really wanted to visit a beer bar😝 YES, you know what happens🤭

 

I tried to say maybe no🤔 NO…

Well, birthday girl didn’t have the final word😝

So of to the beer 🍺 it was. 

 

yes, you see that face??? 😝🤭😁

 

After the beer party, it was time to return to our hotel. 

We have a early morning tomorrow🙃

We are going to Acropolis before we go to Piraeus⚓️💙⚓️😎
