Rare starstruck05 Posted August 15 #2 Share Posted August 15 Halloween onboard is a good time. Yes there will be people in costumes, trick or treating and a Halloween deck party with costume contest. Happens on all ships the whole month of October.

HappySails4U Posted August 15 #4 Share Posted August 15 Many people do bring costumes and enter the contest. The costumes range from very detailed to basic and comfortable. There will be Halloween themed activities thru the week including Thriller dance class, pumpkin scavenger hunt, scary movie trivia, etc . . . Lots of fun !! 🧛♂️

x lindsay x Posted August 16 #6 Share Posted August 16 I fully encourage you to bring a costume. Some people always plan to sail around Halloween for the extra festivities. The actual trick or treating is generally reserved for the kids, and is a bit of a scavenger hunt for them to spread them out. But it is mainly on interior decks so if you want to avoid hoards of kids stick to Serenity/pool areas/the casino when its scheduled.
Theosprey247 Posted August 16 #7 Share Posted August 16 Even when it isn't October, some people wear costumes....
Rubberband1293 Posted August 17 #8 Share Posted August 17 Our third October cruise is coming up and I gotta say, the Halloween deck party; costume contests and other treats are an absolute blast! We've enjoyed the Halloween activities on the Mardi Gras and the Sunshine and are looking forward to the festivities on the Vista in just 64 days. (And yes, my costume is ready!) I've also booked a Halloween cruise on the Vista next year too because, well, why not?! We have celebrated our wedding anniversary, Independence Day, and New Year's Eve on prior cruises, but hands-down, Halloween cruises are my favorite!
Rubberband1293 Posted August 17 #9 Share Posted August 17 Halloween on a Carnival ship is soooooo much fun! There are a lot of things to do - from haunted trivia contests, "Thriller" dance lessons, to pumpkin carving, to costume contests, to trick or treating - there's something for everyone. Carnival really gets into the spirit and the deck parties are a blast!

Out of Iowa Posted August 17 #11 Share Posted August 17 There is a costume competition with prizes for individuals and groups. Bring your "A"-game because people's costumes get very ingenious, clever, high-quality and creative. There was a Halloween-themed dessert in the Main Dining Room. Creative, but other Carnival desserts are tastier.
royal3 Posted August 17 #12 Share Posted August 17 Based upon our 3 Halloween cruises, about 15-20% will wear a costume on Halloween.

It's been more than that in my experience but never a majority or even close to it, maybe a third. Far more children than adults as you can imagine. If you are a light packer like I am, you might not want to waste room on a costume I enjoy seeing other people's costumes more than I like wearing my own. I might need to save for that next year lol
Rare SRQbeachgirl Posted September 4 #17 Share Posted September 4 Last night I booked a Halloween cruise for next month without even realizing it. I only noticed this morning when a booked the time off in my work calendar. Guess I'm going to miss my department's Halloween Party (which is slightly complicated since I'm the department director). Oh well, the sea is calling and I must go. Now I just have to see if I can talk Mr. SRQ into wearing a costume...

Some really elaborate costumes can be found on cruises from New Orleans and Los Angeles areas. I would imagine New York as well. The Fun Ship legend continues.
