Completely disagree with your comparison. Not anywhere near the same sort of product.

  • I never said the overall products were the same; what I said was I’m surprised Celebrity offered Canapés for Retreat guests while Regent does not. Given that Regent is considered a luxury product, it IS quite surprising.

Just as Celebrity does, Regent tries to draw a distinction between between its "suite" class/butler level and "regular" cabins. This is Regent's way of doing it. Of course Regent does not do the "ship within a ship" concept...indeed they are far different products. We cruise in both Celebrity suites and Regent below concierge level cabins. Both meet our needs and we enjoy the contrast in the products.

I’m well aware they’re different products. Regent is all-inclusive and typically quite a bit more expensive than Celebrity Retreat. We don’t eat the Canapés, but for those that want them, I think they should have the option of ordering gratis, even if they aren’t in a suite,

Overall I found the food much better on regent than Silversea. My wife, however, really loved the daily lunch sushi and sashimi on Silversea (a few bits and pieces on regent). However, we did find the outside dining areas in the evening ie the Grill on Silversea to be better for our dining preferences. The canapés were just an annoyance…..

Comparing is always good!  I will tell you we for the  first time last month, were in a suite that we got canapés.  I don’t we ever finished them and some we had a good laugh at.  I asked for pigs in a blanket, which was fine, but they served them with some weird fruity sauce.  lol - never thought to say serve them with mustard!

I also wished Regent did a grill at night, especially on longer cruises.

In fact is there anywhere on website that says that certain foods are available in one class cabin and not another? Is anyone aware of any other foods other than canapés?  ?? Caviar??

Yes,  some of the  upper suites will have a one time caviar service with all the fixings.  If you read the description/perks for each suite it will mention this.  You can even invite others for a small party! Not that I have ever been invited!  😂

As we recall, Master and Grand Suites were able to order meals from the specialty restaurants to be served in their suites.

Each of the ships were directed to figure out housing for five additional crew in order to staff pool grill at night.  Easiest to convert launderettes as plumbing already exists; pantries are more expensive to modify.

You lost me here...what's the connection?

Passenger laundries into crew cabins?

Only guessing….

Pool grill is scheduled to return in evenings early 2025.

Wonderful news!  We love having a grill option on Viking and Oceania.  (Albeit theirs is in the buffet area, which Regent is already using for Sette Mari.)  I wonder if it will offer different options than during the day?  (Although DH would be happy with the ahi tuna sandwich for dinner every night..)

Didn't they already convert pax launderettes into crew cabins during the start-up after COVID?  I think there is only one left per deck after that.  Would that leave some decks with passenger cabins without a launderette?  Regent feeling this is okay as it now offers "free" laundry to all?

I do know that a few years ago the 2 restrooms on deck 7 (starboard side between the guest suites and casino) were turned into crew cabins and numbered in the 3000's vs 700's on that deck.  Occupied by Boutique crew members while we were on WC earlier this year.  Next time you're on Mariner take a look at the signs on 7 with the deck layout...still shows restrooms there.
