beshears Posted September 30 #1 Share Posted September 30 I have never been on a cruise for more than 7 days. This Enchanted cruise is for 10 days. My question is if you have used the laundry room on the Enchanted, does the use of this go on my credit card, or do you use coins/bills or what to get the machines and soap, etc.? Rare LACruiser88 Posted September 30 #2 Share Posted September 30 (edited) You buy tokens using your Medallion in the laundry room. These get charged to your shipboard account. Edited September 30 by LACruiser88
Kerry's Girls Posted September 30 #3 Share Posted September 30 There are machines in the laundry room where you buy the tokens using your medallion/charged to your room. $3 each for the tokens and you need one for the washer and one for the dryer. Also tokens for the laundry soap purchased in the same manner, but I didn't notice the cost. Brought my own pods.

beshears Posted October 4 Author #5 Share Posted October 4 Thank you ALL for your answers to my question. Someone mentioned that they brought "their own" items to use at the laundry mat, which I thought I was good. This is my question on that, if you don't use the coins that you purchase there, and put them into the slot, will the washer/dryer START without you putting the coins in the machines? skynight Posted October 4 #6 Share Posted October 4 I don't quite understand your question. All you need to do is scan your medallion to purchase one washer token and one dryer token. Nothing else. You do not need to purchase dryer sheets and soap from the vending machines if you have your own.

When we were on Discovery in 2022, the laundry machines were free (no need to put in a token - they would just start). When we were on Enchanted in 2024 - you had to put in a token to start the machines. Like @skynight responded - you don't have to buy their dryer sheets or soap from the vending machines. We brought our own scent free Tide pods in ziplock bags.
beshears Posted October 8 Author #8 Share Posted October 8 Thank you both for your answers. So to get either the washer/dryer to start, you DO have to purchase coins to start the machine, even if you bring what you normally use in these machines. Do you remember how much the coins cost for each machine? If I was just doing the 7 day cruise like I normally do, I doubt if I would be using the machines. I may still not use them, but this information will help if I do use them. 🙂

It's one token per cycle, purchased by tapping/swiping your medallion. Lots of people being their own detergent and/or dryer sheets .
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted October 8 #10 Share Posted October 8 Keep in mind also, that only 2 or 3 people can be running machines at one time. You *may* have to wait until someone finishes...and that can take awhile. Or...you can go to the laundry room on another deck. Nothing to say that you have to use the one on your deck. After having done self-serve one time we elect to just send it out to the ship laundry. Yes, it's more expensive but when you look at the cost vs how much you've spent for the cruise...it's negligible (IMO).

If you're going to use the dryer as well.. buy 2 tokens. If you want to bring your own detergent from home.. that's your choice. If not.. buy a token on your cruise account for the detergent dispenser. They cost $1.50. Finally, you put a token in to start the dryer. Set the timer on your phone if you're going to leave the room - leaving a machine full of clothes unattended after the cycle is done - is very bad form as others are waiting to use them 🙂

beshears Posted October 17 Author #14 Share Posted October 17 Thank you ALL for your pointers here, as it was MORE informative to me. I just thought??? there was only one deck with the laundry machines. I gather??? there are not a lot of machines to use, and "waiting" for someone's laundry to get through, would be an issue also, unless a person did not have anything special to be doing at that time. In regard to the dryers, once you put the coin in, does the dryer go for just 15 minutes or can you adjust it to how long you want the dryer to go? Also, how can I find out what deck the laundry rooms are on? We are on deck 9.
Thrak Posted October 17 #15 Share Posted October 17 When we do laundry we pick out a movie in the cabin. Then we go start the wash, set a timer on our phone - we set the timer for slightly less time than the wash will run, and go back to the cabin and watch the movie. When the timer goes off we pause the movie, move the laundry to the dried, set another timer, and go back and watch the movie some more. We may have drinks or food delivered to the cabin or not. As long as our timer goes off so we get back to the laundry room just before the machine stops it works quite well. We never leave our stuff in the washer or drier longer than necessary because others want to use the machines. Princess ships have a laundry room on every deck that is "passenger cabins only". We bring our own detergent.

windango Posted October 17 #17 Share Posted October 17 The laundry rooms do get busy but we discovered if it was a port day and we were back on the ship in the early afternoon the laundry rooms were usually vacant. We also brought our own detergent/fabric sheets.

We were recently in a forward cabin on the Majestic and it was at very long walk to get to the laundry which was all the way aft.
