Decorating your door

We could care less if someone decorates their door. And sometimes it even provides us with some entertainment value.

Each to their own. We are light packers and cannot imagine bringing along room/door decorations with us. We spent last week at an AI. Did not see one decorated door. Must be a cruise thing. Don't really know why though.

Perhaps because they allow it, hotels may not. or perhaps people stay longer on cruises than in hotels.

Does anyone else have a list of people from this forum that they hope to never meet on a cruise?

First cruise coming up but we will take a pass on the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet. There appear to be some very strong opinions about some seemingly innocent practises.

As I read this thread I keep singing, "You're as cuddly as a cactus, You're as charming as an eel, You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel."

OMG that last paragraph is priceless!

I am guessing the pro decorating cruisers prefer comedy and family movies and the con cruisers are more into drama.... Lifes too short to worry about the small stuff.. Yes we decorate our door. Have grandkids and with magnets and paper can be really creative...

Makes "home" easy to find. Place one at eye level and other about 12" above the deck. Never know. Late night and too many adult beverages in the Casino and I might end up crawling to the cabin. ;)

Great idea, but perhaps you need a third one placed upside down at the 1 m height for when you are carried back down the corridor by your new friends.;)

And maybe one on each side of your room saying that you are at the wrong door and you should go one door left or one door right.

Do people really decorate their doors? This is only my second cruise and my first was years ago, and I can't honestly remember seeing decorated doors. I agree that it would make finding your room easier but Hubby thinks it's stupid. lol!

We did while on a Christmas cruise just a little tinsel.

And recently on the oriana(p&o)

We had a poppy(remembrance Sunday 11sth November') we placed where the daily information goes.

It really helps in finding your cabin if lost. "

You should try sailing on Celebrity. They just retrofitted all their ships putting cabin numbers above each door. Makes it a thousand times easier to find one's cabin.

  • 2 weeks later...

To anyone who says they've never seen it at a hotel... You've clearly never been to a Disney Hotel during the fall or winter! Almost all the sites at their camp ground will be fully decorated for Halloween or Christmas and most of the DVC people (timeshare) will light up their windows or balconies!

Heres a blog with some photos of the camp ground - http://dads-blog.dadsguidetowdw.com/campsite-decorating-christmas-fort-wilderness/

And uh, here is a photo of my door from a week ago on Majesty! (decorated just to stir the pot here! :P)

I agree. As long as you are not doing anything against the rules (many things), or forcing someone to endure something that is not acceptable (music for example) Just be happy.

People who are offended by others perfectly reasonable actions need to 'take a chill pill'

maybe that is pa rt of the me, me, me attiitude and disregard for anyone else. A PILL for everything. The answer is not to tell people to take a pill. The answer is to think of others and not only ourselves. TAKE a pill. Not a great suggestion, IMO.' Too many people taking too many pills, maybe?

I guess I could have asked you the same question!

Haha, well, uh, with the dry erase board we wrote "write something" and just left it at that. So it was fun seeing it at the end of each night what people had written on it before we cleaned it off for the next day. Things like "we're from Boston!" Or things written in Portuguese signed as 'Brazil'.... Or just random "hello!" I don't know. If you don't like it, don't do it. :) Lots of 'go (team)' things too.
