  1. I've heard that some have been successful using WhatsApp with surf on a couple of the ships. Not sure if it's the way it's configured or with the fuller ships the bandwidth just isn't there. Has she tried FaceTime (if on iPhone)? Some have reported they can use it with surf. She also may be able to use a hotspot at the pier to make the calls. That's what much of the crew do. Almost all terminals have free wifi these days.
  2. I have replace my original with a plastic version and so far it has escaped inspection. Last cruise we asked early and our butler was able to find a Tea Kettle that we kept for all 3 cruises. On B2B day we just put it on top of the suitecase with the extension cord and they moved it all.
  3. If I'm not mistaken even the Cruise with Cofidence window has closed. I think you have made a good point that we should all consider when taking out travel insurance. I don't think many of us look at all the possible things that can go wrong. I've read of some policy with cancel for any reason but they are really expensive to cover the risk. As other said -- call and try - the worst they can say is no.
  4. I believe you have to have the Premium Internet to be able to make Voice calls with WhatsApp. I always have premium and have never had a problem using WhatsApp for voice phone calls. Can you confirm which level internet service she has.
  5. They have it available for booth Android and Apple phones. From the app you can do you online checkin much easier than the web. Also on the app you can see all the menus for each of the restaurants as well ask make reservations of anytime dining as well as specialty. Finally you can check your account while on the ship, control lighting and AC on Edge Class ships and make and cancel shore excursions.
  6. I've used FBC but recently been finding fares on my legs to be much higher than I can do on my own. The main reason is that most of the fares they are now offering are fully refundable. One example is checking a flight From SFO to LA - On Alaska they are quoting $436 pp First Class - Alaska Airlilnes quotes $169. Tried from my closer airport San Jose and they offer nothing. I also checked on SFO to Singapore today and The rate they are quoting the same rats as the airlines. There are advantages to booking with FBC that you don't have to pay for reservation until final payment but the negative is that even on a fully refundable fare if you make a change after final payment they charge a $100 pp service fee.
  7. Could be... Try them and if don't hold up just grab a couple each afternoon.
  8. I use to bring one with me. Mine was made of stainless and for some reason the security guys seeing a metal cylinder with a plunger on it always opened my suitcase to inspect and left a little note saying my bag had been hand inspected. I stopped carrying it.
  9. The name itself turned me off an never tried it. Iain tried one of the cakes -- it had a gelatin on top and he took one bite and left the rest. I of course had a Lemon Tart and I popped it in my mouth and didn't even offer him a bit. LOL I of course said Yum...
  10. You may wish to download the Celebrity App. Go to a current sailing on your ship Chose the dining room and select Wine List. While not all will be available it is as good as the winelist on the ship.
  11. it shouldn't affect those with all inclusive. Future cruises may see the fare increased slightly but doubt it.
  12. I would think that is appropriate as prices are skyrocketing everywhere and the difference is so small as not to affect most of us. Thanks for posting.
  13. Like many things the protocols have evolved. In March/April when I tested Positive - Most were moved to an inside cabin and removed from the ship at the end of the cruise. The next cruise was cancelled and you were walked off the ship with a ghost buster squad spraying disenfectant. September of this year on Summit. Those that tested positive were quarantined in original room. If spouse was negative they were offered to either stay in isolation original room or an inside cabin close by. As soon as you tested negative you were released from your isolation. If on a B2B you could continue to the next cruise. If you were not on a B2B and you were still in isolation you could choose to stay aboard for the next cruise (probably moved to an inside as someone else probably has your room booked) and could stay on the cruise until you tested negative and they they would disembark you at the next port and assist you with reservation at your expense to return home.
  14. Our experience is that if you give laundry to them before 10:00 AM you will get it back the next day. If you leave it out in the evening it will come back the second day.
  15. If you don't have one just ask. We had one on all of our sailing on Silhouette - both on the inbound TA and cruise from Southampton.
  16. Download the Celebrity App. Select a current sailing with a similar itinerary. Go to Daily Planner - at top right change filter from Suggested to All.
  17. We did the Celebrity Tour that included the Lobster Lunch. The bus had a sign on it "Charlottetown Islanders - Coach Atlantic Group, Dupee, New Brunswick"
  18. They use a very study crust (not flaky) and they seem to hold up for at least a day or 2. I usually pick up 4 and they last us 2 days.
  19. Personally I would say the cruises we have been on since resumption were different but can't say I was put off by anything. Early cruises with less than 50% occupancy were definitely different. The staff were more relaxed and had time chatting with you at dinner and other locations. Recent cruises have had some shortages and staffing issues but I can say many of my favorite products just aren't available or the size has shrunk by 50% and the prices remain the same. I definitely have increased the number of bookings we have and I expect things both in our local markets and stores as well as cruise line to gradually return to better times.
  20. I'm also a fan of the App. On our last set of cruises I noticed they just piled up on the desk and I never looked at them. They just ended up in the wastebasket.
  21. You can also try to manually enter. All you need is Reservation Number and Name. Sometimes mine don't show up and I just click add missing cruise. As others said sometimes it takes a day or two to show.
  22. Prices are defiantly up across the board. To me it makes sense when I consider that the highest margin cost items for cruise ships is Fuel, Food and Staff. I think we are also noticing these same items affecting land base restaurants, airlines hotels. I had sticker shock last week when we went out to dinner. Prices are up about 30%.
