  1. The one possible issue is storage. I am not sure how well wines are stored on-board a ship (ie, constant temperature around 55 degrees, if my memory is right, plus a rocking boat is not good for wine). Also, a red wine does need to age a certain amount before you drink it.
  2. Also, since you only pay the difference, it may not be worth upgrading.
  3. I have eaten dinner at Tuscan Grille (first night dinner with the discount). I did not think it was great however I did not think it was bad. Service was fine. Also, I would not expect to get something I did not order, even if there is only one item listed. In general, I do not expect ship restaurants to be as good as good on-shore restaurants.
  4. I did this on Anthem of the Seas (it was the waiter that came by and had me look at the next day menu) and it worked out sort of OK. I think there are some dishes where they just can't do this, for example cheese usually has a lot of salt so if you want the cheese you have to accept the salt. I mention Anthem because Royal is a sister company.
  5. If you haven't tried it, you might like Oceania. It is a little more expensive. However, the ships are smaller, the food is much better, they include almost all non-alcoholic drinks (cappuccinos, soda, etc.) in the basic price, also wifi, and at least one dinner at each specialty restaurant. The cruises tend to not have children if this matters at all.
  6. These days I am booking flights at least 2 days ahead to give me more time just in case.
  7. It would be nice if true. It would match Oceania. However, if it is true then the $30 pp/pd Zero Proof package makes absolutely no sense. Also, if it were true, you would think that Celebrity would be advertising it all over their website.
  8. Yes, after you select the cabin they give you the option of the cruise only rate or upgrading to AI.
  9. I would rather they raised prices a little rather then cut quality. Royal, their sister company, is slashing quality right and left.
  10. For a US resident on a 10 day cruise it is 90 days. The number of days for final payment may vary by the country you live in and the length of the cruise.
  11. Balconies seem to be selling out fast on SOME cruises. I have a cruise coming up shortly and Concierge and Aqua are still available. There is a tiny chance that a single balcony might become available for very short periods of time due to a particular passenger canceling for whatever reason.
  12. I remember being asked for years to give good reviews. I usually give good reviews however on Royal I thought the food went downhill and said so in the review. If you don't give an honest review service/food quality will continue to decline.
  13. I know this has been asked before but still want to get clarification for my cruise to Alaska. Gala seems pretty clear, I bring my black tux, white shirt, cufflinks, black satin tie. For smart attire I plan on chinos (blue and/or tan) and a dress shirt (the type one would wear with a suit but not white), no tie. Black shoes, the same for both Gala and Smart Attire nights. Breakfast and lunch: long pants (possibly clean jeans, not ripped) and a clean dark colored t-shirt or a rugby shirt depending on how warm it is, and sneakers or boots. I just want to be clear about the current state of affairs, not start any wars. Simple answers would be appreciated.
  14. It used to be. Not sure what is going on with all the changes.
  15. The two customer service people might both be wrong. That would restore my faith.
  16. With the water you order pre-cruise (12 or 24 delivered to your cabin) I am not sure if it makes a difference. This was on a Feb. Caribbean cruise out of NJ.
  17. It was Anthem of the Seas. It was the water we had ordered pre-cruise and delivered to the room.
  18. On Royal the water is pop-top cans
  19. I would rather just not have to care. I am on vacation, why deal with something when you don't have to. A cheap towel I bring on my own I think of as disposable.
  20. We sometimes pack cheap beach towels so I don't have to think about getting charged if I lose the towels.
  21. The Premium Non-Alcoholic Package is still available, it was just renamed Zero Proof with a list price of $30 pp/pd. Zero Proof Package Refresh with premium bottled water from Evian, Perrier, San Pellegrino, & Panna, Specialty Coffees & Organic Teas, Red Bull Energy Drink, Frozen Smoothies, Zero Proof Cocktails, Coca-Cola selections, offerings from Vitamin Water, and Bottled Iced Teas.
  22. True, but we did buy a painting we still like. I have been on Adventure of the Seas and it was extremely crowed. Especially the pool area.
  23. Don't think so. Look at the FAQs and the website list of drink packages. They have just three listed: Classic Alcohol, Premium, and Zero Proof. They are forcing those who want packages into higher priced ones.
  24. At the new prices I will just go ala carte and carry on some water and soda. I just don't drink enough of anything to justify the prices.
  25. Looked at Celebrity's Website With the new pricing it looks like they eliminated the Classic Non-Alcoholic Package Sorry to see it go that is the one that most fit with what we needed.
