  1. Don't get me started on Bingo! On my first cruise, on Royal, they had people with electronic devices playing along with people using manual cards. Gee, wonder who gets an advantage there.
  2. Here's a recent discussion on the topic, should have all the info you need. It may start out about TA-gifted credit, but it covers OBC in general
  3. It does. https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/cruise-accommodations/the-haven Luxury bathroom products I thought I had a picture of the dispensers in the regular cabins but I can't find it right now.
  4. If the ship has completed the conversion to Coke products it definitely won't be there. There's a 'dress up or not' night. Overall, nothing special unless you want to make it so.
  5. Our resident expert can correct me if I'm wrong, but I imagine it wasn't a 'caught off-guard' so much as this just happened to be when parts and contractors could both be scheduled to the ship.
  6. @CruiseBunny425 recent cruises have not had show reservations available prior to boarding. This is a post-COVID change, and may revert back pre-COVID processes at some point.
  7. Many questions can be answered by reviewing the T&C's for the promo - https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions
  8. Like some others, I don't log in to my account unless I actually intend to book, or I'm looking for something in my account.
  9. None of which matters for cruise passengers if the GLOBAL maritime regulations don't change to allow the substance on the ship...
  10. My experience in March counters this statement (neighbor, I'm near Albany!) My passport was 9 years old this year (and has since been renewed), I've only had a beard since 2017 or so. Port of Miami used facial recognition on debarkation and I was NOT pulled aside for further verification.
  11. Can I assume you've seen the Latitudes website - https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program#tier_benefits and this footnote regarding the dining Bolding done by me? 6 Benefit is available on sailings 5 days or longer, and entitles each guest to an appetizer, one entrée and dessert of choice. Upcharges apply to certain premium menu items; Raw Bar Seafood Platter is not included. Bottle of Wine offered in all venues offering Complimentary Wine list, Palomar not included. In à la carte restaurants, coupon can be redeemed for 4 menu items per person (Sushi, Wasabi, Nama, Teppanyaki, Hasuki, Food Republic, Pincho Tapas Bar or Raw Bar). Additional entrées will incur supplemental charges. Dinner coupons are non-transferrable. Solo guests cannot claim two dinners. Coupons can’t be used for the same venue twice. 2 guests maximum. Dining options vary by ship.
  12. Boy does that deck look "BUSY"! Only thing missing is a go-kart track...
  13. The BA and GA might be the only ones with a bar in the Studio lounge. However - they DID have a bartender or server come in a couple times during my Bliss cruise and see if anyone wanted drinks (against their drink package of course) and brought them from a nearby bar. The solo host may need to request that service.
  14. I've cruised NCL solo, twice. The first time was in a Studio, I met some great people, including @debenson0723 and had a WONDERFUL time. I went to the solo gatherings, did activities with the group, met some other people I ended up going to specialty dining with 3 times. The second time was on a ship without a Studio area, ended up meeting some great people and had dinner with them every night except the first one and never went to the solo gathering. As said - solo cruising is what you make of it. If you want to be social, do it. Get out, enjoy the activities and interact with others if that's what you want. Sometimes just sitting someplace and having something happen that could be a conversation starter (happened with me on my first NCL trip, was in the OL trying to read when we started seeing whales breaching). Of course - if you want to keep to yourself you can certainly do that!

  16. Someone coughing is not an indication of being ill. Sit next to me after I have a carbonated beverage and while I'm drinking it and listen to me sound like I'll be providing lung for the meal. I'm not sick, it just does something to me...
  17. actually, it's only foreign-flagged passenger vessels that need to make the stop.
  18. NCL has this fantastic section of their website where such information can be located. This page indicates there are Haven rooms aft and forward. https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/encore/staterooms (select the Haven tab, couldn't link to it directly) On this page, you can view the layout of the ship, decks 17 and up in the forward section of the ship appear to be Haven, just as on the Bliss and Joy which are nearly identical. https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/encore/deck-plans A little tongue-in-cheek, but just a quick browse of the NCL page can give some amazing answers. This question is answered in this thread from this weekend -
  19. It's suggested to have reservations (done through the box office or at the Headliners comedy club on embarkation day), but on my 3 previous NCL cruises, including 2 before COVID, I don't recall the theater being at capacity for any of the shows so you have an excellent chance at getting a seat on the standby line. On that cruise, only SIX and Burn The floor will have reservations, plus the comedy shows in the comedy club. Everything else will be first-come first-sit seating.
  20. @mgcharleston I'm looking at the sailing the week after that one! I actually have a Studio cabin booked (I sail solo), but I'm seriously considering cancelling that and waiting longer to book. I booked it as I had a 10% gift from NCL expiring and I wanted to get it on a cruise but I feel like I can save more than that and maybe get a balcony if I wait. Why do I think that? I booked the Joy this year, similar week, 2-3 weeks before the cruise and sailed in a balcony (again, solo) for what I have the Studio booked for for next year. It's a gamble for sure. finding a hotel room for the night before isn't easy when you're that close to when you want to travel. I have a month to make my decision, final payment is around Nov. 16.
  21. Was a reason not given to them on-board? When I was on the Joy this Spring and we skipped Costa Maya we were told why. It was an announcement over the ship's PA, maybe they missed it?
  22. Right here - https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions#s5m5 The text, for those that don't want to click the link as they ignored it when booking also Itinerary Changes In the event of strikes, lockouts, stoppages of labor, riots, weather conditions, mechanical difficulties or any other reason whatsoever, Norwegian Cruise Line has the right to cancel, advance, postpone or substitute any scheduled sailing or itinerary without prior notice. Norwegian Cruise Line shall not be responsible for failure to adhere to published arrival and departure times for any of its ports of call. Norwegian Cruise Line may, but is not obliged to, substitute another vessel for any sailing and cannot be liable for any loss to passengers by reason of such cancellation, advancement, postponement or substitution. Reservations are subject to change or cancellation in the event of a full-ship charter, and in such event, NCL shall refund all passage moneys paid by the passenger. I wonder where the OP expected the ship to sail to from NY if they couldn't go to Bermuda.
  23. My CND's purchased in November 2019 were extended, but I used them earlier this year so I can't verify for how long. If she logs in to her NCL account she should see the extended date.
  24. based on some of the questions I've seen posted about OBC (there were a couple threads earlier this year), I actually thought non-refundable OBC was typical.
