  1. If one has a reasonable budget then Coral Reef. Alternatively, an “under the radar” quality boutique hotel at a lower price point has to be Sweetfield Manor.
  2. Try contacting a local private Insurance Broker. And your current insurers for house, car, life, pension etc.
  3. The beach restaurant one can recommend is The Naked fisherman, it has free WiFI for guests only. 20 minutes from the pier. Book your lunch/day in advance as it’s a boutique style on a small beach away from T’erds.
  4. If considering a Rum Distillery Tour/Taste then go to Foursquare. Sometimes Richard will be in attendance. Also there may be an opportunity to purchase some rare expressions. For the adults a vis it to Washington’s house would be of interest, a walk into American History, also Harrison’s caves and the Submarine trip would hold the little one’s attention.
  5. One’s first choice for lunch/day etc was https://www.belmond.com/hotels/north-america/caribbean/st-martin/belmond-la-samanna/ Take a look at their Gallery. But since COVID and their rebuild, not had a chance visit SM and enquire about the availability of a day stay. However, if something more casual with all one’s requirements, then Orient Beach, not the nudist end.
  6. If one is seeking a covered Mall with a great variety of shops and restaurants all in one place then…. https://www.plazalasamericas.com/ Open until 9pm Taxi from the pier is about $15 each way - Plenty of taxis from the Mall’s rank.
  7. One will get a ban if one mentioned the Face….. name, But use the “Messenger” service on the Hotel’s Face(reading material) page.
  8. One can also purchase suitcases with a built-in scale……
  9. Go for QG, as the usual ship Far East (commercial) offerings would not be authentic enough and rejected. QG can offer off menu dining in the Restaurant or en Suite. Can say from personal experience there are competent Chefs (Sous etc) who can prepare very good plates ranging from Nasi gore a to a delicious Singapore Chilli Crab (with Prawns). Even Ikan Bakar! For your dining pleasure do talk to your booking people, stating one wishes to engage pre-cruise with the Grill’s MD for your dining requirements. It’s good to talk! Welcome to Cunard…..
  10. No.. If one does not wish to carry a mini scale, just purchase one at a port stop, then donate to crew or bin it when finished.
  11. To save any confusion and assist all future posters, what is the correct differentiation protocol when using the word “minimum”? Because a person could use the “m” word as information, or statement of fact, having to then face an accusation of using the “m” word in a derogatory manner. Suggestion. For clarity, the “m” word should now be accompanied with a clause inside open/closed parentheses, such as; statement of fact; informative or derogatory etc..
  12. Takes just over 20 minutes there by private taxi (plenty available at port) and allow about 30 minutes back (because of port traffic). Fare was US$30.00 each way for the taxi, but work on a possible US$35.00 each way. Driver usually asks if they can be booked for the return with a time. If not, NF will be happy to arrange for a known and reliable taxi back, just give the time. The $30 for the whole taxi to NF becomes no brainer, when it was about $10/12 pp e/w to The Rex (swarms hell) by shared minibus. Enjoy….😊
  13. Points well made….. However, one has used the word “minimum”, prepare to be flamed! 😊
  14. Be patient, as Princess will offer one superb alternatives
  15. Unable to comment on the current, or future, dress codes. However, based on one’s previous tropical cruise experiences, the suggestion made would be perfectly acceptable for day and/or evening buffet wear.
  16. Another suggestion. If one likes the Cunard product experience, Americans and Canadians have the facility to purchase FCD while on Cunard. The FCD OBC benefits in addition to the Cunard Fare OBC makes a FCD a no brainer. What one pays for the FCD becomes a deposit/contribution. No loss of spend FCD benefits are per person, not per stateroom. FCD Benefits 6-9 nights Grill Accommodation$200 USD 6-9 nights Balcony Accommodation$150 USD 6-9 nights Inside/ Outside Accommodation$100 USD 10 nights or more Grill Accommodation$400 USD 10 nights or more Balcony Accommodation$300 USD 10 nights or more Inside/Outside Accommodation$200 USD FCD are purchased from the Voyage Sales Office, payment by Credit or Debit Card only. Also, as the Carnival share price is very low, it could be beneficial to buy 100 shares for even more OBC (consider this being part of one’s pension pot). Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 14 days or longer $250 Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 7 to 13 days $100 Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 6 days or less $50 Because at today’s share price it will not take that many voyages for a total ROI No doubt other CC members will deliver even more hints and tips. Enjoy….
  17. How true…… If one wishes to Tux/Suit every night, go for it, then one could actually start a new code. But one has Tuxes pressed before wearing, so I’ll now also consider the last night Tux Never crossed one’s mind Thank you….
  18. Additional If seeking a more relaxed dress code for a beach/lunch/drinks day, then The Naked Fisherman is an excellent choice, being well away from T’erds. Book on’s lunch/day in advance as it’s a small boutique beach restaurant/bar, being popular with discerning locals and vacationers, therefore space is limited. It has a great relaxed vibe. 19. Top tips: Not to be missed experiences for the first time cruiser. The (2 share) Seafood Platter in the Verandah Wagyu Beef in the Verandah The Special Cunard Seafood Pasta Dish (forgot the actual name) in the Lido Alternative on the La Piazza nights (hidden away at bottom of Menu - Cooked and Flambé table side by HW). Evening Cocktails in the Commodore Club Working with one’s Sommelier over Dinner, especially with Bin Ends (excellent wines at excellent prices) Hotel close to Cruise Terminal Southampton Harbour Hotel - Would suggest an early booking as this is the most popular hotel for overseas cruisers taking a WC Drinks/Alcohol No restrictions on the amount one can bring onboard on embarkation Some Off Licences (Liquor Stores) in Southampton can deliver online purchases
  20. Welcome to Cunard………. A Crossing Voyage As it appears one is “Old School” with intention is to dress to impress nightly. That will leave one’s husband to decide if he will also go “Old School” with a Tux/Suit on every night, except first and last. All questions will be welcomed, with good advice given. Enjoy
  21. Take the advice of reedprincess. For one’s part don’t book a day pass from a website. They will take your money weeks in advance, then when arriving one will be hit with no room, with the booking site quoting T&C “subject to availability”. Calabash does occasionally offer a day ‘entrance’ fee/sun-bed (they select the position). CC are also very discerning (because of their clientele) and have a strict dress (plus conduct) code. It is advisable (unwritten protocol) when discussing one’s booking, that one voluntary makes a firm reservation for lunch, without any discreet encouragement. It is not a “rent a bed” for the day establishment.
  22. Local area are Shops….. Bars….. etc ……That’s about it But one could walk to Palm Court Gardens, along with hoards of crew (crew receive a sizeable discount) and heards. Then pay for sun beds, if any available, to regularly have the peace shattered by the let’s let off steam, be noisy and annoy brigades. Take a tour, see the sights of SK, but if this is not one’s interest, skip all the T’erd centrals and go to Marriott…….
  23. As a point of view of an now interested party. What is one paying for in Grills? - A drastically reduced standard menu? - A drastically reduced list of ingredients available for off Menu? Reduced Staff/Service Levels? Current Grill prices a above pre COVID levels, so it would appear Grills are paying even more for much less. This is not being fair and wrong on so many levels.
  24. In a word NO One has, plus many CC members also have, raised this question, but Cunard never issued a satisfactory explanation, only answering with waffle. Cunard, from their perspective, consider waffle as being totally acceptable, therefore matter closed.
  25. Contact Club Med about Les Boucaniers in Martinique, they used to offer a Day Pass, not sure now. We paid under €100.00 pp and had a great stay. Taxi took about 45 minutes there and 1 hour back with a price of €50 for the taxi each way. On return, allow an extra 30 minutes to stock up on Rhum from duty free. 10 minutes to browse, if one doesn’t know what to purchase, then 20 minutes to queue to pay. Good luck…
