We are going with an open mind. We’ve cruised a lot on HAL and enjoy it. I don’t expect it to be perfect but life isn’t either. I know we will have tons of laughs with our friends too. Looking forward to the ship and snorkel adventures on the ABC Islands.

No I won’t. Everyone has their own experiences and expectations. It will be our first cruise since the pandemic so I’m just hoping all goes well. Plus our friends are coming too and haven’t been on this ship or itinerary. We are in a Neptune so will wine & dine them in our cabin if things aren’t going great-but I’m sure they will!

I also agree with @crystalspin I’ve also recently confirmed with the Mariner Society about upsells & nothing has changed. You perhaps have just been extremely lucky. She is not incorrect.

Agree with @crystalspin we always take a print out of it or if we have wifi show the email confirmation of the shareholder OBC if it isn’t applied on our account. We’ve only needed that once.

That is worrisome. We have a 10 day cruise booked on Eurodam but not until November. We’ve always loved that ship & staff so hope it improves soon. It’s especially surprising about the staff as normally they have been excellent.

@Haljo1935 good idea about those cabins. We’d have to book early which is next to impossible with both of them working & having to sign up for holidays & try to get the same time off. Well, the grandson would be almost 3 by next May so hopefully it would be ok. It’s only a week so I’d come home & rest for 2 weeks after, lol!

We personally buy them in Canadian dollars & book in Canadian dollars. Our dollar sucks though.

Thank you. It would help if we could as we’d like to do another Alaska cruise from our home port in Vancouver. They have a 2 year old so I’d go along to look after him if they wanted to do an excursion or just have some adult time. I’d also be willing to try an inside cabin (I’m claustrophobic so not sure how that would work out)-we’d get 2 cabins so fingers crossed!

I think if you have several you can use them. We only had one each.

Longer cruise they require more. We used ours for our 35 day cruise & had to pay more as well.

You weren’t even allowed to buy for your hubby, ugh. I know we will be buying a few for us but was really hoping to buy one for our “kids”.

I’m assuming they ran into issues with other people buying them for family or friends. I seem to recall you just needed their names etc and Mariner numbers. Our son and DIL forgot they had them during the pandemic (and couldn’t cruise) and then suddenly noticed a credit on their credit card. They would have preferred keeping them with HAL but too late.

I can’t answer your question but we are on the same cruise. It’s our first time with the HIA. I think @Crew News has posted the menus before but I’m not savvy enough to find them for you but hope he will see this. Thanks @kazu we posted at same time.

That’s a shame-I’m sure a few years ago they allowed it. I was wanting to buy one on our next cruise for our son & DIL.

I guess I lucked out. I emailed my proof mid June for 2 upcoming cruises and had the confirmation back within 20 minutes for both.

If you remember when you’re back, let me know what you did and how it went. We are heading to the ABC Islands on a cruise in November but friends are coming so doing ship excursions in Aruba & Curacao as they’ve never been before. Have a wonderful time!

@TeamCan i was just reminded that we have also used Irie Tours in Curacao which we pre-booked. They’ve got different excursions which you may find one you like. https://www.irietours.com/wonders-of-curacao-caves-turtles-beaches/ I think this is the one we did but have a look at others you might want. The snorkel with the turtles was our highlight.

We love Curacao and always try to pick an itinerary that includes it. Renting a car is a great idea as you’ll get a lot of sites in. (We were there one year on a cruise just before Christmas-their decorations were so beautiful).

It was a bus tour we just picked up at the dock. It was several years ago now-no beach, just a couple of stops like a look out, the Curacao distillery where they gave you tastes of the various liquors, through the town but I honestly can’t remember what else. We had originally booked a private snorkel tour which was cancelled because of rain so picked this one up. (He also gave us all a bottle of beer or water to drink on the bus)! For beach ones you’d have to google & dig deeper I think.
