  1. Thanks for your review. My sister in law and friends are cruising on the Koningsdam in July so I hope the Vancouver port is running smooth by then. We had told her we loved the Koningsdam so I hope all goes well. Funny you mention about the noise of the Neptune suite you were in. The last few times (as well as our upcoming winter cruise) we have chosen the suites not close to the lounge on purpose so we had to walk further, lol. We actually booked one on deck 6 once to see if we liked it and did as we had to walk up the stairs! I figure that offsets the goodies 😁 So happy the food was good. Totally agree staff are really what has made as pretty loyal to HAL.
  2. Nice to see you back on the Eurodam in a Neptune. We are booked in one as well on the same ship in November which will be our first since the pandemic so nice to see the photos! Always enjoy your posts. Have fun!
  3. We’ve sailed on the Zaandam a few times (quite awhile ago now) and loved the ship. The size of the ship is perfect and I’ll also be sad when gone. I honestly thought HAL would build another new one that size for getting into “smaller” and unique ports. Happy to hear you enjoyed the cruise. Thanks for sharing.
  4. She has been tagged in the past with no response. I seem to recall she had issues signing in after her husband passed but not sure as it’s been so long now.
  5. I also got excited when I saw the title of the thread then realized it wasn’t her. We used to stay in touch via email but it stopped a few years back. I also enjoyed reading and following her-she loved their Neptune suites.
  6. I agree with your wife. Years ago I did my own too but then just said no way. Love them on the ships though!
  7. I tried a few times sending her an email but no response 😢
  8. Thanks for your detailed report. We have always loved the Eurodam and will be on her for our Caribbean cruise later this year. Glad you weren’t too sick.
  9. Oh goodness @Crew News what a wild day and evening. Stay safe.
  10. Yikes. Sounds like a wild ride! I loved it like that because I’d walk around the ship and it would be empty. Find myself a nice spot to watch the waves while hubby would be in the room not feeling well, lol.
  11. I saw a photo on another site and the seas looked really rough. They mentioned too rough for pilot boat.
  12. Shame about the weather in Kodiak. Our son & his wife did a float plane tour there a few years back. They ended up being the only 2 that showed up and the pilot gave them a wonderful tour. Got great photos of the bears plus a nice fly over of the ship. Enjoying your posts as usual!
  13. We just went through this-I had our friends booking number attached with ours. I made reservations with HIA at the Pinnacle & Tamarind & told my friends to do the same dates & time. Then I phoned HAL to double check we were sitting together & they confirmed yes because our booking numbers were cross referenced.
  14. @cruising sister Just found this thread and will follow along now. I am always interested in solo cruising experiences. The Dutch Cafe is also my “frenemy”, their food is delicious but my downfall is I love their lattes. I believe in signs and yes, I do think your husband is with you. There may be a few more tearing up at times but it sounds like you are doing amazing. Have a wonderful time!
  15. This thread has made me happy that we’ve booked set dining on our next 2 cruises. Although one is in a Neptune the other isn’t. Just hope Mr Bear is ok with the late seating I chose 😁
  16. So glad you got to go on the cruise. Welcome back. Will be watching for your review & photos!
  17. You review and I’ll read!! It’s been quite a few years since we did the Canada/New England cruise but we really liked it. Ours was from New York to Quebec City though. I’d love to end up in Montreal on our next one as our daughter & family live about 30 minutes outside of there. I’m not one that cares about the dailies or menus but I’m sure others would. I do enjoy seeing photos people take though 😁
  18. @Crew News thank you again for another wonderful & informative review.
  19. Thanks @Crew News for all the info you find, so helpful for all. Have a great cruise.
  20. I want to make sure Osso Buco is still only on Mondays so I can reserve-it’s hubby’s favourite!
  21. I may have missed this but did you pre-book the Pinnacle for supper? The shortest cruise I’ve done was 3 nights with a friend. It was a great ladies getaway that did Vancouver to Seattle back to Vancouver. I surprised my girlfriend by taking an upsell to a Neptune suite.
  22. I email my PCC & he calls me back within the day. I’ve also phoned customer service recently & got through within 5 minutes. Hit or miss I guess.
