Totally agree with Babr. We are Canadian so doubt my input will help but when we buy travel insurance I pay a little extra for a look back for pre-existing of 7 days and we usually buy a year medical travel insurance as we do travel often (well, we did pre-pandemic-so far it’s only been in Canada lately). Wishing you well.

Thanks for your honest review. We unfortunately (or fortunately) haven’t cruised since just before the pandemic hit. I’ve read a lot of reviews lately and yes, cruise lines are struggling, but it certainly seems some things like food & entertainment has gone way down on HAL. As a 4* I really miss cruising HAL but when we start again we hope it will have improved. We’ve done Princess & Celebrity which we may try them as an option. Thanks again for your review.

I loved the Christmas decorations when we were on the Koningsdam for 21 days a few years back. They had villages set up by the Dutch Cafe at that time. Thanks for the photos-brings back wonderful memories of our cruise.

Just found this thread (been busy with little grandkids). So happy to follow along with you @kazu I have really enjoyed the Koningsdam in the past (been on her over 40 days). Was worried the first time that I’d find the ship too big but loved it. Enjoy your cruise(s)!

The OP also posted on a HAL Facebook page and never came back to say anything more. It’s disappointing when people post like this without coming back to say if anything was actually done other than a refund. I would find it very annoying as well to be told a VIP gets to disturb all the others.

Just a word of warning-we got the invite, went & then noticed on our bill we were charged. Yes, it was reversed but just double check your bill.

Sorry for this late thank you for the info post, been busy with the little grandkids etc. Appreciate your info. We had to cancel the 50 day cruise that stopped in the South Pacific this year but hope to be able to go on one in 2024. Thank you again for this info!

I’m not sure it’s sour grapes. Yes, cruises are supposed to be fun but then things start compounding and it isn’t the fun you hoped for. Some pay a premium for the cruise and expect a certain level of quality and if not met, can certainly be disappointing.
