40 years, damn that's hard to fathom lol.  Love John Cusack.  Better Off Dead is one of my favorite movies.

Yes! I love that movie. So many good quotes.

Kid just called the choir teacher "Mr. McDouble" so there's my boot the principal's office for the semester. The longer I do this the less often I send kids out, but that one really burned me. Especially considering this kid loves to be mean to get laughs. And, you know, the choir teacher is a great guy whose wife is dealing with cancer. But whatever. #overit

    It's "Professor McDouble" to you

Nah! Seriously that kid deserved it. Hopefully this will be a learning moment for him and he develops a conscience one day.

When was this? As of 2023 Medicare covers a colonoscopy following  a positive result from ColoGuard, according to their website. Maybe this was before last year?

Yes in 2023 but Aetna not Medicare. He ended up having benign polyps so glad he got the follow up colonoscopy.
That is great that Medicare covers it!

Since we are having a conversation related to, well, bodily functions lol, might I add just one more lump (ha ha) of thought-provoking info? My sister is, as I am, low-risk. No family history, etc. The last time her doc said she needed a colonoscopy he agreed that she could do the "mail-in" type. Now that of course is another whole set of comments and reactions--but she did it. No prep required. Do your thang in a box that is provided, seal it up, bring it to the poor UPS (or was it Fed Ex?) guy who actually noted it was about his fourth one that particular day, and mail that sucker.  The whole thing cracked us both up but hey. Next time my doc suggests it (which he will soon enough I am sure)--thats what I will request. At my age and with a clear family history I just don't see the point of having to do the whole colonoscopy thing. Please. I have enough to worry about here.

My husband did Colo-guard but he got a positive result and had to go in for the full colonoscopy. Only now the colonoscopy is not considered routine and it cost a ton of money.

Yes, I get the liability part, but they need a better system for us solo folks.  Wonder what they would have done if I flat out said I don't have anyone to drive me.

I'm glad your neighbor can help. But you should be allowed to use a rideshare service especially if you can prove that you booked it in advance. I drove my stepmother home from her cataract surgery and another patient used an Uber driver to get home. She did use him to drive her there and on the way home.

If I was close by, I would take you!!!

Yeah but after the taxes, it’s still over $400 a night for the Cathedral view. I am hoping to stay around $300 a night. Decisions. Decisions.

We stayed at Midtown Apartments in Eixample when I traveled with family. A 2 bedroom was cheaper than 2 hotel rooms. Great location. Barcelona is very accessible with the subway system. https://www.nnhotels.com/en/midtown-apartments

I don't know if you are traveling with others and would want to share.

I just do it based on what I want. The base sauce is Ragu (yeah, cheating--but shared with me by an Italian who is an excellent cook). Then I beef it up with red wine, hot pepper flakes, lots of garlic. I saute red/green/yellow//orange peppers, lots of onions (onions sautéed to almost crispy), carrots, zucchini (and anything else O might want, sometimes green beans and/or peas, etc), basil, Italian seasoning. Let it simmer a long time. Then let it cool and refrigerate. It's yummy then but even better after it has been in the fridge over night.

    Yummy!

Anyhoo, I guess I need to try and put together a few sober nights in a row this week. My friend is driving up from Florida so we can have some margaritas from Bill at Taqueria Del Sol before he retires on Friday, so that'll definitely be one night "off the wagon"...

I thought he retired last week? He's really milking it, huh?

One final bit of touching news.  As far back as I can remember, when I lived up near Tommy, we always watched the Chicago Cubs.  He was a lifelong fan, and I doubt he missed watching very many games during his lifetime.  I learned yesterday that my Uncle bought Tommy a new Cubs jersey so that he could be buried wearing the new jersey.

    This is amazing!

  10. I experienced an issue with employee fraud after sailing on the Carnival Venezia last year. My credit card on file was used to pay for another guest's Sail & Sign account for a cruise that occurred 2 weeks after I disembarked. It was an ordeal to work with Carnival Guest Care and my credit card company to try to fix it. I finally sent a very detailed Executive email listing exactly what happened and the supporting documentation. It got handled within 24 hours.

The messaging feature is disabled and I don't want to post email addresses here. Let me know if there is a way to get it to you.

Disclaimer: I have told this story a few times on here in different ways. Please skip if you have heard this all before.

You may not like it if you get called. Look up Westly Allen Dodd. I was called for this one. No news for weeks. As in no radio, TV, newspaper, or stupid people that want to tell you all about the case. Sitting for a day with the first fifty people called (there were more in other rooms) while the powers that be explained what was going to happen. Then filling in a questionnaire of personal questions. i.e: What genre of reading do you like? What was the last book you read. Did you like it or not? Why? What do your parents do for a living? How many siblings do you have? What are their names? How old are they? What do they do for a living? What religion are you? How often do you attend church? You get the drift. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It was pages and pages.

And then there was being called, walking through all the reporters, sitting on the stand in a filled to capacity, standing room only courtroom. Asked more questions. including a question that was so difficult to figure out that they had to print it out so jurors could read it. (It was a double negative question) I didn't serve on that case thank goodness. Let’s just say one attorney said yes and one said maybe. Hours later I was told I was dismissed.

Because there was such a large pool of jurors, my summons was for weeks. After serving on a date r*** case and a serial rap*** case (this was his third case) my boss called and said that I had served enough. I have been chosen for the jury for every trial that I have been interviewed since Dodd. And yes, I have served on more than these cases.

    It is stressful. But fulfilling.

Why did I Google this guy? He was a monster who got away with his crimes for years mostly because the police and victims/parents never pressed charges. What a monster.

I’m glad you were not picked for his trial. That would have been so traumatic.

I'm perhaps picking a terrible time to introduce myself?  I'm a lurker who's recently discovered the The Tribe....and I love the style around here (and cruisers who enjoy a good drink package....boy did I get some looks with a cooler of beers on my Disney cruise at 1100)

Ive been on quite a few cruises, I'm from Fort Lauderdale (currently Chicago suburbs), my dad worked for NCL for 35 years, we got to cruise for basically port charges when I was a kid, my first cruise was on the SS Norway (lucky enough to sail Norway many times!)...pre 9/11 I got to go up on the bridge of the ships when they were arriving and leaving port, which lead me to a career working as an officer commercial ships (first on them....now handling some from an office in Chicago).  I always cruise with my wife and two sons (8 and 5), and I've got two cruises on the Norwegian Jade booked for this year!

90% of my cruises have been on NCL, but I've done 3 on CCL (Sensation / Imagination / Legend), 2 Disney (Dream / Fantasy), 2 Royal (Majesty / Oasis) and 1 Princess (Caribbean).

Thanks for all the info/entertainment and I look forward to more!

Welcome! I am totally jealous that you grew up cruising. Sounds wonderful!

Slow here at work today, so we're having to try and come up with stuff to do to stay busy, or at least look busy. The time has slowed to a crawl, and it's supposed to be a non drinking night for me this evening. Things aren't looking too good for that, seeing as though it's supposed to be raining still once I get home...

In other news: I just looked into flights to Miami for the Horizon cruise in late May, and they're even more out of control than the Tribe cruise. We're talking $700 round trip for the flights I'm looking at... I blew out most of my Skymiles on my last flight, so I'm just going to keep an eye on it for now.

Can you cancel the cruise? That plus flights, hotel, etc. would save a lot of money.

After many years being Tribe member, I’ve decided to step out and unfollow. To the tried and true members from way back when, thank you for being part of my life. We’ve shared our lives, ups and downs and made it through the pandemic. I’ve appreciate being able to share my photos and adventures. I will truly miss you.

Recent comments have made me feel attacked and ridiculed. I don’t need that in my life. Remember when snarky comments are made, you don’t know how it will effect someone.

I’m terribly sad that this is the end of my Tribe membership.

    Stay safe, stay well💕

I am so so sorry that you feel unappreciated and unsafe here. I know that everyone loves your comments and photos. You bring a peaceful Zen to this place.

Maybe take a break and come back to hang ? I definitely don't want to see you go permanently.

So, just returned from my NCL Prima cruise last night.  On my way home from the airport I realized I had a bare fridge.  So, 11:00 p.m. on a Friday night I'm trudging through Kroger.

People in PJs?  check!  Passing people smelling like a bong?  check!  Couples who are trashed seemingly decided it was a good idea to bring their fighting into Krogers?  check!  People with blunted motor skills because of some unknown foreign substance they ingested?  check!

I guess some people got the munchies!
