  3. I'm not sure whether the UK does poppies for the same reason, but a Canadian, John McRae, wrote a poem during World War I called "In Flanders Fields", which here in Canada is always recited on Remembrance Day (November 11). The museum in Ypres is also called the In Flanders Fields museum. In Flanders Fields By John McCrae In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
  4. I would assume that any flight from Gatwick arrives at Terminal 3, and not at Terminal 1. The process is different at the 2 terminals. If the OP is flying from the US into Terminal 1, the process is fairly simple, not so much if arriving at Terminal 3 (especially if connecting to a flight out of Terminal 1).
  5. It certainly makes more sense that everyone on a sailing has access at the same time.
  6. I turned off predictive text, because I found that most "corrections" were wrong. I let the phone make suggestions, but not autofill. Now of course, I can't blame the phone for my typos; I have to own them myself.
  7. What I dislike about this itinerary is that it is really 2 round trip cruises from Amsterdam. That adds a lot of extra sea days that to me are unnecessary. That said, it does hit all of Alesund, Geiranger, Bergen and Flam.
  8. On my tulip time cruise with Uniworld, I took a bike out on my own for an excursion, although I can't remember exactly where. I also took one out in the afternoon of arrival in Vienna in 2011, although I just did a bit of the Danube park. Just note that these aren't generally light bicycles; they are fairly heavy Dutch one, or at least they were when I was there in 2010.
  9. The problem isn't entering the US by air. That only requires a passport valid until the end of your trip. The problem is that they are taking a cruise which will require a longer passport validity.
  10. It doesn't work on my desktop in Firefox either, but I did get the download from Chrome.

I think that there are only 2 sets of flights and transfers not used, not 3. (You are using one set).
  12. Sorry to say, most cruise lines don't allow you to use your own hair dryers, as they can be a fire risk. Beyond that (i.e. for hotel use) your hair dryer is probably 110 only. To use it in a European hotel you would need a CONVERTER, not an adapter. (A converter converts voltage; an adapter just changes the plug orientation for an item that operates on the voltage of the plug, 220 in Europe.) For a hair dryer, which draws a lot of wattage, you need a converter that is powerful enough to handle the load. IF your hair dryer is dual voltage then all you would need is an adapter.
  13. Can I be a picky Canadian here. The name is Charlottetown (one word not two).
  14. That is interesting, and I wish it were true here. Just remember, they are only getting rid of change fees; any fare differences will be charged.
  15. I don't know about where you are or what airlines you use, but the easy (and free) changes have pretty well disappeared in Canada, unless you buy very expensive full price tickets.
  16. Tuk tuk, ox cart, rickshaw, and probably others I can't remember.
  17. You can apply now for him. Renewals are available up to one year in advance.
  18. My renewal card arrived today, 16 days after approval.
  19. Yes, you can book tours as soon as you have paid the deposit. There are fairly complete excursion descriptions available in MySilversea, and it is very clear which are included and which entail a charge.
  20. I find that baggage claim in Toronto (my local airport) is among the slowest I have ever seen. Maybe it is because I have Nexus so get out of immigration sooner, but I always have to wait for luggage to begin to arrive, a problem that I don't seem to have in foreign airports (where I am usually held up in a line for immigration). Otherwise, I don't really mind the airport, and I love the fact that I can get to many places on a non-stop flights, or with only one connection. That said, the airport was AWFUL when I departed in mid-July; conveyor belts weren't working and people were lined up everywhere. Baggage was being manually sorted by flight, and moved by carts to the baggage area. When I left again at the end of September, everything was working much better, and I got through very quickly.
  21. Yes, I have been in one of those cabins. I think that the older Uniworld designs are the only ones that have cabins near the bow, but there might be others.
