  1. Because if you let the vendor (as opposed to the banks) do the exchange, the rate is usually really bad, and there may be additional fees. If you let the bank/credit card company do the exchange, its usually at the "bank to bank" rate, which is the best rate you can get.
  2. You can make then 1:25 pretty easily. You can do either...Uber or Princess shuttle.
  3. Cinque Terre is a neat and beautiful place. But it has become overly popular. Rather than a drive by one day visit, I would suggest a land trip, couple night stay there.
  4. There are many threads here on hotels. You may think they are outdated because the cruise season in Alaska has just started within the last week, so there are no 2023 experiences yet. And, there are two ports...Pier 66, which is in the downtown, and has several hotel near by, and Pier 91, which is outside of the downtown, and doesn't really have much close. In either case, the true "downtown" is a fairly compact area, and Uber and taxi rides are very short and inexpensive. And yes, downtown can be expensive, particularly during cruise season. Only you can decide if you need to stay by the airport. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is an option to meet budgetary needs. Also frequently discussed here.
  5. Most hotel and cabin safes we have used you can set a new code every time you lock the safe.
  6. "Large" is a vague topic...I wouldn't say two of them are large, but one is. Of course they get crowded.
  7. Check with your hotel. We stayed at the Nimb last July...hotel offered car service from airport to hotel and hotel to Oceankaj to board our ship. Each trip was a bit expensive, but worked very well...particularly as our flight ended up 3 or 4 hours late arriving. We ended up with the same driver for both and it was worth the cost.
  8. Actually a lot of the actual Inside Passage ( east of Vancouver Island) is in Canada. In any event, a lot of the areas away from the towns is unpopulated or very lightly populated. So there may not be any cell coverage in a lot of the areas.
  9. Whenever the excursions come available. I would think it will be very soon.
  10. I would chose the Hop on Hop off...only because it is focused on the sites, and you get to see more of the city over all, along with narration and other info. You can get a two day pass and visit as many sites over the two days as you like, and perhaps get discounts on admission, or possibly free. You can Google search for the Metro system and look at their route maps.
  11. This has choked a couple of times on our info as well...eventually it accepts it all. The flight info...that sounds like a codeshare flight? What airline is actually flying the route and what is that airline's flight number?
  12. Where is your cruise sailing from, and at previous to the Le Havre stop? There may not be any Immigration issues. Customs is a minor thing in Europe.
  13. Not always. There are many places for a table for two. Your description sounds like the tables near the window. However, there are, for example, usually tables for two along the center railing or elevated area (depending on the ship), or on the elevated area itself (again, depending on the style of MDRs in the various ships). We have quite struggling to get the window seats, and enjoy people watching form the other tables for two.
  14. Yes, pretty easy. Worst case they convert a table for 4 into a two top for your seating. Happens a lot.
  15. What is your source on exactly what the price is?
  16. Did it once...it was seamless. We used the drink package (soft drink) at 11:30.
  17. The package starts when you board on that segment...so imagine by noon on turnaround day. It ends at midnight the night before the end of the segment.
  18. The shower was fine on our N. Statendam aft corner Neptune...two stalls wide or bigger. No tub. We also had a corner aft on KDam...those differ quiter a bit depending on which deck you are on, but ours was close to your description. Guessing they improved on the design after KDam. Agree the layout is not as nice as N. Amsterdam...smallish, compared to N. Amsterdam. Particularly small if you split the beds.
  19. Agree...pretty solid chance it will be the 17th and 23rd.
  20. @John Bull, I didn't say that. The OP asked, I said it was cruise line policy, not by port. The question would be "What is Carnival's policy?"
