Rare Roz Posted September 19, 2018 #153 Share Posted September 19, 2018 My question is - when are they going to change the piped in music in nursing homes? They're still playing Big Band music. That was my parents' era music, and if they were still alive, they would be 91 and 92. Not too many of that generation left. Roz
JRG Posted September 19, 2018 #154 Share Posted September 19, 2018 Love it! If it's good there will be a few late nights in February. This! A thousand times!

harryw Posted September 20, 2018 #156 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Actually, many nursing homes use recorded music based on relatives’ input as therapy to jog the memories of residents,

Sorry, like' em very much but they are "Folk Rock" Think in terms of artists from the "Classic Rock" genre actually playing music from the genre "Classic Rock" during Rolling Stone's heyday. You're calling out your favorites from the "Folk Rock" era.
sfaaa Posted September 20, 2018 #159 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Rock means electric guitar jamming with drum and bass and preferably on loud and full of energy. Acoustic guitar solo just doesn't cut it.

KroozNut Posted September 20, 2018 #162 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Dylan went electric at Newport and the world lived to tell about it. Roz True, but his music (acoustic or electric) would still not be classified as Rock 'n Roll, particularly Classic R&R. Dylan is a true legend, but a legendary Folk artist.. :)

sevenseasnomad Posted September 23, 2018 #173 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I have not heard anyone say this after seven pages of reading so here it is...…… Since this new venue is going to be a cover joint they better make sure the musicians and singers are equally as talented. That being said I prefer R&R but won't have any problem walking out of a cover band I can see anywhere. I am looking forward to seeing if they can pull this off at the level they established with the blues venue. Did I miss something in the press release? This venue is going to require a cover charge? How much? Do passengers have to pay each time they enter the venue? If true, are entertainment venues now going the way of the up-charge restaurant options? Could someone, like Copper, respond please?
rothbury Posted September 23, 2018 #174 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I guess a couple of things come to mind on the Koningsdam. When BB King was in the Queens Lounge there was a dance floor. Where they are moving to, I guess the upgrade may install a dance floor where Lincoln Center Stage was. Moving Billboard Onboard to where the Oceans Bar was seems to me to be a very small venue compared to Music Walk area. It was always SRO after about 8 on our cruise. Then I guess I have to wonder about how they will alternate acts. Before Lincoln Center Stage would perform and when they were finished Billboard Onboard would start up. With 2 similar type acts within 100 feet of each other I just have to wonder how they are going to plan their sets. One good thing though. Billboard Onboard won't be subjected to the cigarette smoke drifting down from the casino anymore. Guess I'll find out how it all works out in February.
