Rock on!

I'm still a little confused as to why they are keeping BB Kings with this new concept. Don't get me wrong, I like BB Kings a lot, it just seems a little redundant.

While BB Kings sometimes plays hard rock, that's supposedly not their wheel house, nor should it be IMO. When HAL first started this venue in 2013, BB Kings played more blues, similar to the clubs in Memphis; however, it wasn't long before they were mixing tunes from more traditional rock into their sets. I'm thinking they'll probably go back to the original intention, and if so, this would definitely make each venue unique.

Makes sense!

BB King's is great, but they're primarily R&B and Soul with very little actual Blues (despite the venue's name)

It's an entirely different genre than classic rock 'n roll..

Yep, some boomers will really like this.

Awesome!

The 50 somethings I know (who are Whitesnake, Rolling Stone and Coldplay fans) prefer the after dinner classical music concerts in the Explorer's Lounge, and then it's to the casino.

Not so much.. ;)

Thankfully there's something for everyone ! :)

Yes! :D

Do you think they could play In A Godda-Da-Vida in 78 speed!😁

“Those Were The Days My Friend”

Tomorrow is also looking very good.(y)

The times, they are a-changin'....60 years ago, many believed that rock & roll was "the devil's music", and now it's being featured on cruise ships., once the home of accordion trios and strolling violins.

Given enough time, HAL may someday feature a Cheech & Chong Smoking Room...."the finest dispensaries at sea".

You've got a HAL destination pin headin' your way

Another classic: A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum[/quote

And you had a Marine Corp Challenge Coin in October.

Thanks.

I still have that one! Exchange for an USAF PJ? Continue on FB before we wind up in the sin bin? ;p

The video says "four decades of rock and roll." Technically rock started in the 1940's, but didn't really pick up steam until the 50's. Starting with the 50's, you have close to 7 decades of rock and roll. Which three are they leaving out?

Trade with Copper10-8 and have him send you a Deadhead sticker for your Cadillac. Then it will all make sense.

I agree with what you say, but it's splitting hairs a little. Both venues play popular music from past decades. I'm certainly not objecting to the new venue or more entertainment options, I just sorta expected a venue like this to replace BB Kings or Billboard rather than keeping all 3. But, the more the merrier!

We noticed on a cruise in February that the background music on the ship had become much better and had stepped out of the big band era. Instead of Mitch Miller we heard Steve Miller, from the Mills Brothers to the Doobie Brothers, Perry Como to Steve Perry, Jeanette McDonald to Michael McDonald, etc. When instead of Patti Paige they play Patti Smith, it will finally be a Boomer ship.

What a long strange trip it will be.

Love it! BB Kings with blues and toss in some classic R&B while Rolling Stone has classic rock. Great move by HAL to enhance the variety of nightlife for boomers. Should keep the ships alive longer into the night. More dancing, more drinks and modernize for HAL. I think they're figuring it out.

My thoughts exactly! Bounce between the BB & RS venues easily, enjoying both as the mood & tempo suits. [emoji1303][emoji1303] to HAL for this creative improvement.

I am so happy to read this! I love rock...(went to hear Van Morrison on Wednesday) and booked my first HAL cruise yesterday, the Statendam in January. Except for Sock Hops on Celebrity years ago, I rarely hear this genre on ships.

I guess raising cigarette lighters will be frowned upon.
