Tender to Great Stirrup Cay?

Does anyone know if NCL tenders out to their private island or do they dock right next to it? We went to RCL's island and had to tender. It was not a fun experience due to the rocky seas. bleck!

Tender to GSC, dock at Harvest Caye.

The tendering is one of the reasons we probably won't visit GSC again -- we'll just stay on the ship if it happens to be on our itinerary. For us, it wasn't too rocky, but the long wait in the hot sun on the tender in order to get back on the ship was not worth it (we waited 30 minutes and talked to others who waited an hour).

That's what happened to us, too. We waited for an hour and I thought I was going to be in one of those stories you hear about a ferry boat capsizing and 40 people dying on it. ugh!

Tendering to GSC seems to be a crap shoot. I have read a lot about everyone's experience since I wanted knowledge. The last time we were there 11/17 (Sky), we hovered and then left. No GSC. The sea did not look torrential at all. However, the island next door (RCL?) were clearly tendering. After a lot of research, I still can't figure out the algorithm and why some get to tender to GSC and others don't. Not questioning Captain's decision. Safety first...

I have no problem with a rocky tender boat. Growing up on the ocean water on the Jersey Shore was a way of life me. Waves, waves, waves = fun!

JMO :)

The problem isn’t the rocking, it’s the danger of getting people on and off.

We are 5 for 5 at GSC on the Sky. It's one of my favorite stops on NCL. Getting back just depends if you've just missed the last shuttle. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes.

Then you are lucky. The day we were there, common waits were an hour. And we did not just miss the previous tender. The tender was already 3/4 full with people who had been waiting 30+ minutes. Not a fun experience at all.

Well I did it this weekend. We are on our way home now. The tender process was pretty painless, but then again, we didn’t try to get off the ship till 10:30. The sea was very calm so it wasn’t too scary. Thanks for the 411 everybody!
