Paul, thanks for your review and photos, what kind of camera did you use for those night shots? What was your settings?

We leave this upcoming Sat for a b2b on the Oasis, looking forward to it.

Suz

Suz, it's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. I used the "Night Portrait" setting.

This may be here but I noticed one of the servers in Giovanni's is in the RCI gratuity part of the video shown in the cabin. Not sure if it is here or not.

Yes, same girl. She is on the departure video. I was wondering why I recognized her, then she told us she was the girl in the video.

That's the one, Gordon!

Here's an interesting, yet pathetic note. They are having a problem with people stealing these art pieces off the walls. This is one of the hallways leading to the casino. Over 200 have been stolen.

This must be the hallway on the smoking side of the casino as I missed it. :(

My Sony DSC H 10 has a setting for Twilight Portrait, do you think that is similar?

Probably. On my camera, I have to keep it perfectly still for the night shots, or else the movement makes it blurry. The shots I took on the Pool Deck were taken with the camera sitting on a railing.

Yes, it is......and it was very smoky.

They did have a sign hanging saying the hallway was under video surveillance and to not touch the art pieces.

It's very unfortunate. The assistant of the artist actually died making these things. She had some sort of reaction with the chemicals they used.

They are working on installing glass to cover the walls. DW learned all this in an art tour.

Agree, Last time I used that setting was for the rising of the blue moon, and they did turn our blurry, then found that I could use the side mirror of the car for stabilization. I should invest in a small tripod of some kind, but hate the thought of another thing to carry around!

Your pictures are great!!!

The same thing happened on Mariner a few years ago. In one of the forward stairwells was a piece of sheet metal that had cars, also made of sheet metal, attached to it. I guess people thought that the cars would make nice monentos of the cruise as half of them were broken off and missing.

I just don't get how people don't have more respect for these magnificent ships.

Paul, thank you for the wonderful review and terrific pictures. I have that same camera, but your pictures are much better than mine! We are sailing on Oasis over spring break next year. We sailed on the Independence for our first cruise this past March. We loved it so much we weren't sure we should book the Oasis and not another Freedom class ship. After seeing your pictures and review, I know we made the right choice! I was concerned about overcrowding. Thanks for clearing that up! I can't wait! Any other pictures, tips or comments you want to make would be much appreciated. You are an excellent reviewer!

Yes....the crowding concerns have been completely erased from my mind. They got it right with this ship design.

By the way, this reminds me of something else....and take this for what it's worth....I was told in the Concierge Lounge Lounge the next ship will be another Freedom Class, but re-designed with different and more "Oasis" type amenities.

Hi Paul -- it was a great cruise and enjoyed reading your review and seeing your pics. I had a blast and loved the OASIS.

Thats is...right up until this guy decided to stand in front of me...

That made me laugh Paul :D

A great innovation on this ship is these touch screen panels at all the elevator banks:

If you were lost or just didn't know where a particular room or venue was, you just touch this screen, type in your room number or choose from the ship's venues, and it lays down a red dotted line telling you exactly how to get there. It also had the daily compass.

Used this the 1st day/night a few times.

Entertainment - This ship has, by far, the best entertainment ever. Every show got a standing ovation and it was well deserved. Even the live bands were top notch.

Loved Hairspray.

Announcements - Oasis has the typical RCI announcements. They are common, but not annoyingly frequent. The problem is, you could never hear them. Actually, that may have been a good thing.

Coffee - Worst coffee ever.

Agree w/you Paul -- Johnny's was OK (had breakfast there most morning's), the dining room was the worst.

We saw them making repairs when we were onboard. Someone told us (I have no recollection who) that there ARE security cameras in the area...........

We may all be making incorrect assumptions that the vandals are anonymous and are getting away with this. Royal Caribbean may well be catching and charging them for the repairs.

Carol -- there are security cams here and lots of them (at least the "bubble" is there for a camera) and signs posted.

Awesome review and pics, I wanted to comment that your sunset picture with the far off ship in it is almost identical to one that i took on a Carnival cruise years ago!

Great to see all of your wonderful photos, I still have 482 days to wait:eek: your review helps!

Paul, I was on the same cruise and I have pictures of bikini man too! We found him at the Flowrider - he kept walking in front of us too when I was taking pics!

How on earth did you find the time to do all of this so fast?

LOVED Richard Spacey! He is moving to the Allure - what a great cruise director. His mini movies that he showed before the shows and that played on the t.v. were really funny and I was thrilled he did the Evolution of Dance too for us.

I was with a group of 16 people and we all found the air conditioning in the cabins to be terrible in the middle of the night - went to bed freezing and then were throwing blankets off in the middle of the night it was so hot. Did you find the same issue?

Thanks for the pics of the jr. suite. If I did this ship again, I would definitely book a jr. suite instead of the balcony cabin we had - the cabin was just too small. There is a lot more room seeing your pictures.

One thing we were told by several of the staff members - in another week or so, 30% of the staff is leaving the ship and going to Finland to bring the Allure here. That is going to be quite a large turnover - hope that tings so smoothly for passengers. A few other staff members we spoke to were leaving by the beginning of November for good - said they weren't coming back.

LOVED the ship - if anyone is considering booking her - do it. You won't be disappointed.

Day 6 started out with a medical emergency. Oasis had to divert to San Juan to transfer a patient to the USCG. I was in the Solarium, and it provided a good photo opportunity of San Juan.
