Using the 2012 Spreadsheet of HAL's Fleet Locations...

This is the list of events causing ships to be "out of service" for traditional bookings. This can mean Dry-Docks or charters. I have listed the information twice -- 1) Alphabetical Order by Ship (then date order if ship is listed multiple times), and 2) By Date Order (then alphabetical order if multiple ships are listed for the same dates).

This list cannot guarantee that your sailing will not be chartered! This list was generated prior to Monday, September 5, 2011 (since that is the day I received it).

I notice that the Prinsendam has a two week dry dock in November, 2012. That is a significant amount of out of service time. Anyone know what the plans are to get done during that time?

We already have an awful lot of stickies (although I don't know why we still need two on AYWD :confused:) and one of the stickies is entitled Is There A Way To Determine If A Group Is Booked On Your Cruise. Maybe thie initial post by trvlcrzy should be duplicated there.

Certainly odd for the last 1/2 of a cruise to not be listed on the website. I can only report what is in the spreadsheet, so if any of this proves false, I apologize.

 

Is it sometimes true that HAL would remove a week if the contract is close to being settled for a charter? (I truly don't know the answer.)

Honestly, HAL has made the spreadsheet just a little harder to decipher for 2012. The word "Charter" doesn't appear for all such sailings... Olivia, Gertrude Byrne and RSVP did not use the word "Charter" in their descriptions. It is only because I have seen those groups on charter comments and threads in the past that I recognized them. I actually searched for RSVP after I saw Olivia... and it struck a memory cell in my brain.

 

"Inspiration" is another without the word "Charter."

This one is a Gaither Homecoming Cruise... I just googled the ship name and date to get the details for that one. It is in the Caribbean.

I'm not really an expert here but when I was on the Prinsendam and noted that the lido was small and the aft deck was a good overflow area (but only in good weather) someone (I think RuthC) indicated that there were plans to enclose it as a type of Winter Garden. That would be a most welcome change on the Arctic itineraries.

Have looked at the stickie called - how to find out if a group is on your cruise, and all we could find was a long list of posts without any specifics about any particular cruise and nothing about drydocks/refubs.:confused: We aren't very literate with computers, but like this simple and easy to read list. That one was in the spreadsheet, actually, but I overlooked it. The word Charter isn't associated with the listing, but it is titled "7-DAY LEGENDARY RB"

so that makes sense as a Blues Cruise.

I know it may seem that I'm frustrated, but I really do appreciate everyone's input in sharing with one another. I'm just amazed how LONG the list is this year. Last year's list only took one page in a word processing document, even with double-spacing between entries. I am now on PAGE 3.

 

Also, I am a bit disappointed personally... DH and I were booked for July 13 Amsterdam 14-day (now 1/2 chartered... and probably will be for the other half... or shortened to a 7-day sailing out of Seattle). I really wanted Kodiak! :(
