Enchantment of the Seas Delayed at Cruise Maryland

Question... Since RCCL has refunded everyone their money for this cruise... Is everyone going to get credit toward their Crown & Anchor status for the sailing???

Technically they went on a cruise... But it was a 'free' cruise...

I would dare to say " THEY BETTER NOT"

But then gain, seems like RCI is giving them everything! :(

Hurry up and wait, I would guess... Watch for it here on the boards when everyone goes to look for their 'nights' on the C&A page... HEY, where are my credits for the free cruise you gave me??? If you think the 'Delay' thread was active... Wait till THIS one gets going...

It's not scheduled to arrive in PC until tomorrow ( wednesday 2/22/12) sometime early morning

Last reported location Last reported at 2012-Feb-21 12:00 UTC was west of north of Jacksonville FL

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=C6FZ7

If Enchantment is west of Jacksonville, it would be sailing on I-75 somewhere. I'm sure you meant east of Jacksonville.

East... West... Accuracy isn't important... It's a free cruise!!!:D

Maybe they pulled into Va.Beach and had BigRedTowing drag them down the highway since there wasn't a spare ship standing by.

i would take an i95 cruise on the back of a tow truck if it were free too!

were you serious about the alcohol inclusive thing as an upcoming option? oh, the trouble I could get into...

FYI , the following was posted today on another thread by a passenger currently on board the Enchantment.

Hello One and All!

What a difference a day makes. As soon as I posted yesterday things began to get better and better. I started off the day with a gorgeous breakfast of pineapple pancakes in the windjammer. Never had these before and they tasted amazing. We then stopped off for game of bingo, which has grown on me a lot and I now enjoy it :D. The seas started to calm down as the day progressed and thanks to some good advice, i've been munching on green apples to combat the motion sickness. We relaxed a couple hours away in the solarium, where I managed to get into the hot tub for the first time. It was so warm and but me into such a good mood. At dinner out waiter Antonio has been very kind to us, especially to my gf who had been suffering from motion sickness the previous day. I shall reward him later in the cruise. After dinner we went to the casino. For me it was the first time ever inside one and after ten minutes of walking around I hit the beginners blackjack tables. Our enjoyed my time there and came out with more then I went it. Sadly dear gf didn’t have so much luck on slots so with her losses we came out about even ha ha. We caught the cant stop the rock show and it was frankly amazing. The singing and dancing were the perfect end to the day. Last nights sleep was the best ever for me, and if it wasn’t for my gf putting big light on to goto the toilet I would still be there. Weather is gorgeous at the minute and we have calm seas. So I’m going to head to starbucks and get up on deck. I'll report in either tonight or first thing in morning.

Sorry with how negative yesterdays post was. I think hearing the bad news from the captain first thing in the morning and having to cheer up my gf, put me in a bad mood. Sorry if I bummed any of you out with it. Things are getting better as many of you said they would, and im having a hell of a time now :D

Take Care,

This has been slightly touched upon in a few other posts explaining the mechanical aspect of this malfunction but the ship will suffer significant drag with one prop not turning. Obviously speed is reduced, but also the fuel bill goes up substantially. Cruising at 9 knots is costing RCI more than normal cruise at 22 knots. It takes on average a skilled crew with all tools at hand in perfect conditions (ie a hanger) over 10 hrs to swap out an engine on a jet airplane. That is after it is agreed to replace the engine, a spare is available and the crew is assembled. A great example is the airbus A380 that suffered engine failure. It happened November 10 2010 and is still not repaired, even with highly skilled people working very hard to return it to service. 15 months and counting for this repair, 135 million in repair costs alone and still counting!!

Glad to hear the mood is improving onboard - at least for this guy. A free cruise could do it!

BTW, thank you to TKeller for his onboard update here yesterday.

Something in pr1vatepiles' post caught my eye. Enchantment has a Starbucks? I thought they had Seattles Best or something else. With a little luck we will be onboard next week with a sea day and we will be at Starbucks.

Fantastic! I am happy to hear that and dh will be very happy as well. It isn't complimentary is it? If not, I wonder if they will take our Starbucks Gold cards and give us our coffee credits?! We are Diamond, but not Diamond Plus if that makes a difference whether it is complimentary or not or if we will get a Diamond coupon in our booklet.

I guess I need to be spending more time on Cruise Critic - or at least reading Radio's reviews. lol.

I think RCI was really smart to announce the full refund so early in the cruise. I can only imagine how much that must have boosted passenger morale and taken pressure off the poor Guest Relations staff who have had to listen to complaints they could do absolutely nothing about. What do you want to bet some of those passengers who swore they'd never set foot on a ship again are now haggling with the Future Cruise Consultant to get discounts on their next cruise?!

kathy,

It is not free and we are Diamond also and got no coupons for it... In the Diamond Breakfast lounge you can get specialty coffee but it is not Starbucks.

That depends entirely on the aircraft!!!

The crew I worked with in 1983 changed a complete engine on an F-18 in 22 mins. That's towing the aircraft to the spot and starting the clock then towing the aircraft (stop the clock)and turn the engine.

It was an attempt to see how fast we could do it.

Thanks. I guess we will just have to pay then unless it is $3.50 or more for one cup of regular or decaf coffee, which in that case we'll wait until we are in San Juan and go to Old San Juan's Starbucks. We intend to take full advantage of the Diamond Breakfast! Is the Diamond Breakfast on the EN in the MDR or a lounge?
