New menu

Just looked at the pictures of the menu.

From what I saw in the text brief version that was posted it was hard to understand what each dish consisted of.

Looking at the picture menu it really made the menu come alive. There are a lot of things on there that I would eat.

Now the test will be in the taste.

To all those people that say there is nothing that they would like on this menu, why not have a go at creating your own menu.

That way we can all, and possibly and RCCL people reading this, what you like.

Perhaps it is:

Mac and Cheese

Ramen Noodles

Twinkies

Suggested beverage Tang

OR

Caviar and smoked Salmon

Main Lobster and Kobe Beef

Grand Mainer Souffle

Suggested Beverage Bollinger 57

I updated my menu pdf to include the "available any day" items. Nice single sheet table convenient for printing. Enjoy.

Thank you for putting together and sharing all the new menus. We're looking forward to trying them on our Allure cruises in September. :)

Thanks for posting, and hoping when someone knows the scheduled roll out for the rest of the fleet.. Please share that too!

I am always amazed at the negative comments when some nice person takes sooo much time to post what we have all been waiting for......the new menu! Yeah!!! thank you! :(

Thanks for posting, I cant wait to see the photos!

I have to say, from the looks of it, I am not a fan. The pairings seem odd to me. Do they still have a everyday menu? Any changes to that?

Thanks. One funny thing...I keep doing a double-take when I see the word directly under "Thursday".

I think it is Japanese Mushrooms, but I still have to look twice at the word.

Prime rib only one night now?

****ake are very tasty yummy Fungi yes.

I am too lazy to go back and Look but I thought PR was offered on 2 of the new menus, just like the old ones..

the '57 is overrated.....

A lot of things look appealing, but I'm going to need a dictonary, or google access to figure out what somethings are. They always emphasize presentation, but now that appears to go to the menu as well.

Good looking new menu. Is there a schedule for implementation by ship?

Hi

This was from the original thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1676929

I wasn't able to get the full roll out schedule but here's what I do know... the new menus will be available on the following ships/dates:

Freedom- 7/29/2012

Oasis- 8/25/2012

Allure- 9/9/2012

Jewel- 9/23/2012

Rhapsody- 5/24/2013

A big thank you to Clammett for sharing all this information, and Eel for the .pdf. Looking forward to trying the new menu options but this will make it easier to pick which night we'll do our specialty dining, since we do like to do at least one.

Disgusting? A quick look at a thesaurus provides the following terms: revolting, repulsive, sickening, ghastly, sordid, horrible and nauseating.

You might want to cancel your cruise.

Okay, this made me :D.

According to a recent poster who just finished a cruise on the Allure, the wait staff is saying that the Allure will not begin serving this until October. Sounds like the dates listed above are definitely subject to change.

I am sitting at the airport waiting for my flight so have not read all the pages of this thread so apologise if I am repeating anything. I was on this cruise with my family and had the good fortune to be asked to join a small forum to discuss the new menu with the head of food and beverage for the whole cruise line and a couple of his staff. Approx 12 of us spent 90 minutes with them and were rewarded with a $50 obc. They were asking about the presentation of the menus, their content, did we want to dine in the MDR, what makes a perfect experience and what we might like to see in the future. They were interested to hear that I had heard of the new menus through cruise critic and what items were being discussed.

They were aware that the steak was heavily critisied and my children had the manhattan strip several times and loved it. The Indian food has largely been dropped as they primarily put it there for the benefit of Indian guests but found that they were not particularly keen on it.

The themed menus were a little pointless IMO as they didn't seem to reflect the theme at all. Our food was all presented at the correct temperature but others complained that theirs hadn't been. They were aware that there were teething issues and that waiting staff had not been given the opportunity to learn the menus or try the dishes. The meeting was fascinating and the head honcho went on to invite us to a special guided tour of the kitchens. I was on a tour in Jamaica so was unable to make it - it seemed unfair to drag my family back from their first trip to Jamaica several hours early so I could go on a private look at the kitchen that they hadn't been invited to.

My fellow forum members said it had been excellent.

I felt lucky to be asked to present my opinions. Maybe my luck was in as my party of 4 won 3 of the prizes at the M&M. DH suggested he should take me to the casino to see how far my luck would hold.

My friends and I are sailing on the Oasis on Aug 25th and according to the "scheduled" roll outs of the new menu, this is the date for the Oasis. However, when I called Royal Caribbean, they said they were not informed about any new menu changes for the Oasis at that time. Even though I would like to see the menu change, after reading the posts, I prefer to stick to the old menu for the upcoming cruise.

Love this post:-).

You know before the Cruise Critic became really popular and not too many people (only we true Geeks) used the internet, a preview of the menu meant that you walked back to the MDR about an hour after lunch was finished and you could see what was on the menu for dinner.

It was kind of a surprise. At one time the description of Strawberry soup would have made me laugh. Who would eat a soup made from Strawberries? Why would anyone want an Onion Tart? And what about Escargot, eating snails!!! Yuck.

Well because I found my self sitting at a table with a group of seven or eight other people and because I had such a great day and had put on my Tux for dinner and all the other people looked so elegant, especially the ladies, you know I just thought I would step outside the comfort zone and try some of those things that sounded so strange. And guess what I liked them.

Now we look at a menu that someone post a month, six months, a year ahead of when we are going to eat the food. We say how did it taste? And we judge based on hearsay, based on one or two people's opinions.

We all have our own tastes. Something like Baramundi may taste bland to one person but to someone else may taste succulent with a faint essence of something or other that just excites the depths of the pallet.

The only way I can tell you if the new menu, or any menu for that matter is good for me is to taste the food. The great thing about a cruise is I can order two appetizers, a salad, an entree and if I like it get a second one, if I don't like it I can ask for something else. I can have a desert and the cheese plate. And at the end of the meal I can say to the table of eight "I'll pick up the check".

It does not matter how many glasses of wine I have or cognacs, I have a designated driver, well actually a team of them.

I will tell you if the menu I have on the Oasis is good for my pallet on the week of September 10th, that is when I will be back from my cruise.
