Just finished a conversation with some RCCL insiders, they confirmed Quantum is not going to NY/NJ.

Let that be a lesson boys and girls when people have "Inside Information"

It happens all the time and always ends up with the same results....

Hahaha! Too bad he/she won't come back to this thread. Why would someone post they had "inside" information when its not true is beyond me.

I suspect he/she was just trying to screw with us and got a kick out of it.

Looks like IF Quantum indeed sails from Bayonne.....lots of folks can/will scratch that ship as a candidate for a future cruise.

The reasons why have been thoroughly covered....and other than those who selfishly just want it in their back yard for convenience...the rest of the world won't want to deal with all the numerous negative reasons...and will simply avoid that ship and port altogether.

Nothing on a new ship can overcome that terrible port.

Shame on Royal Carribean for making such a foolish mistake to port this new ship.

It is very exciting however just remember you are going for the destinations being the ship and not the ports. So many people forget that on the Allure and Oasis and keep whining about why the ships can't go elsewhere....its cause they are toooooo big....

Now Adam did note that they have not speculated that the ship will stay in Ny after the 2015 schedule...if you look at these new items on board...especially the North Star....it really can't be used in the winter while sailing south or when returning...the few days down to warmth and last days coming back pretty muc make the outer decks unusable due to the weather. Sometimes you can get lucky but not usually. I have never had the experience of great warm weather out of Bayonne in the winter..just saying...of our many many times onboard.

With the amount of costs with some of these features it will be interesting to see how they move forward with 2015 and beyond...ship has to be paid for somehow...and guests complaining about not being able to use some of the features as promoted may make them think twice. Hope that isnt the case but it is the first thing I thought of when you see only 14 guests in the North Star at a time and usually have pretty windy conditions when sailing south or returning...

Oh please! Explorer sails full all the time, as will Quantum. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

What do you mean IF? What more do you need besides the HUGE reveal that just happened in NYC?

You people kill me, as if the terminal is such a huge deterrent from sailing on a fabulous, new cruise ship. Who cares? You're in there for such a brief time. Will people actually not book QOS because the port is not the best? Crazy, but that's OK, more room for me. :D

It's only 20 hours to warmth when sailing to the eastern carribean thanks to the Gulf Stream.

Sea surface temps in the northern wall of the Gulf Stream area at 65f in the dead of winter.

This is located at about 240nm south of NYC. This is the reason and one of the ingredients for

Nor-Easterns during the fall and winter months.
