Shogun Posted April 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Hi All Was looking at an 8 day cruise, price is very good, now there is a 12 day cruise for 65% of the cost of the 8 day. First is a Norway cruise, been to all but one port before but nice part of the world. Other is UK been to ports before will be within an hours drive of my house from two ports. So what to pick a longer cheaper cruise, gives more time to chill out, OK ports are not as strong, but can still find plenty to do or shorter more expensive but better ports, what would you do yours Shogun

Weather would be a toss-up either way. Have a blast whichever you choose. PS Look forward to finally meeting you on the Royal!
wineforhealth Posted April 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Shogun I think the longer less expensive cruise for you would be best. It gives you your time to Chill and maybe you will just find something new in port. Have fun choosing
fanoforion Posted April 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Wow Shogun, lucky you.....I would go for the longer cruise for less money ...anytime. I come from a Scottish background too, so know the value ...lol kind regards, Lorraine:):)
Rare Tak8 Posted April 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2013 I'd go with the longer cruise. Especially at the price. Save the rest to do the 8 day at a later time.

Quilter n Cruiser Posted April 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 5, 2013 I am with the majority here, the longer cruise (more ship time) sounds very relaxing. Sounds like the ports are pretty much an even toss up since you've been to all.
TLC535 Posted April 5, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 5, 2013 my vote......LONGER / CHEAPER ;):D
sunsetbeachgal Posted April 5, 2013 #10 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Since you have been to most of the ports on both...my vote is also longer. Lucky you!
Nebr.cruiser Posted April 5, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 5, 2013 I'd always go for the longer cruise--8 days just isn't enough anymore. And when it's cheaper too...easy choice.
cnd crsr Posted April 5, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 5, 2013 The longer the cruise the better - especially if it is cheaper and the ports are not new on either. Have a great cruise on the one you choose:)
laceynae Posted April 5, 2013 #13 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Here's a viewpoint from someone who hasn't even experienced her first cruise, yet (9 days!!!!). What do you enjoy more...the ship experience or being on shore and exploring? Because even if you've been to the ports before there are undoubtedly things you've not yet seen. If it's the shore experience you enjoy most...do the short one. If it's all about the big ship and the delights it has to offer...do the long one. waltd Posted April 5, 2013 #15 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Shogun you are always cruising. Go for the one with the most new ports.
Cruiserkenn Posted April 5, 2013 #16 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Both? I agree with Carolyn! Go for both. If you can only do one, I would go for the one with the most beautiful scenery. Since you are familiar with both, which do you think is most beautiful?
Blondilu Posted April 5, 2013 #17 Share Posted April 5, 2013 In 2009 when our Mexican cruise turned into a California Coastal because of the flu-that-wasn't, I thought "Oh no, all this time and money just to see my home state!" Turns out there's a lot I didn't know and had not seen right here in my own back yard. My vote would be for the longer cruise.
CruzinNoony Posted April 5, 2013 #18 Share Posted April 5, 2013 It's hardly worth unpacking for the short one. Go for the 12 dayer!:D Looking forward to meeting you on the Royal!:)
