Annefran Posted June 21, 2013 Author #52 Share Posted June 21, 2013
It always makes me giggle when someone posts a thread like this. You asked a simple question but there are so many people who won't answer it 'because' or put up a reason for why it wouldn't happen etc. Lol. You asked a simple question and without thinking about the possibilities and barriers (malaria, more cruise ships arriving, mosquitoes, being moored rather than cruising etc.) which I wasn't asked to do by the OP, I answered it with a yes !!! Ha ha ha.

But she did ask us what we thought. ;)
Thanks all, great answers and opinions. Lot to think about and didn't realize. CC'ers are great! ticktoneer Posted June 21, 2013 #53 Share Posted June 21, 2013
can't happen because the place is used almost everyday by a number of ships
Anything can happen if RCCL want it to and make the changes ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? John Reid Posted June 21, 2013 #54 Share Posted June 21, 2013
That's what Disney will be doing for a few of their 4-day double dips that will call Castaway Cay on two consecutive days.
But Disney has only four ships that use Castaway Cay. Eight ships (seven RCI and one Celebrity) use Labadee.
abridalmaven Posted June 21, 2013 #55 Share Posted June 21, 2013 I live where in summer I can go to the beach everyday if I chose to, which by the way I do not. So while I like Labadee now that we can just walk off, two days would be boring.

negc Posted June 22, 2013 #57 Share Posted June 22, 2013
We have sailed late out of Aruba before and the city area around the port closed down except for the casino. Most people went back on ship prior to main seating in MDR and did not get back off.
You obviously didn't take the Kukoo Kunuku bar hop excursion that returned us to the ship shortly before she was due to sail. Folk Singer Posted June 22, 2013 #61 Share Posted June 22, 2013
Hi All, I know majority of us love the stop in Labadee for the day. I got to thinking, wouldn't it be great if RCI considered an overnight there and we could enjoy 2 full days on the island. They could have entertainment at night on the island in a certain area and possibly a buffet. Just some of my thoughts. What do you think? Happy Cruising!
It is a thought but with the way things are on the Island of Haiti. I wouldn't want to be there after dark.
OTownNick Posted June 22, 2013 #62 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Coincidentally, I thought an overnight camping on Coco Cay would be cool. Imagine the stars...the ship would just stay anchored over night and then leave first thing in the morning ....I just don't think many would give up the comfort of the ship to camp out...but it is a good idea. Labadee wold not be good- could be crime target cause people live there
bigboffs Posted June 22, 2013 #63 Share Posted June 22, 2013 We have been seeing reports of an ever increasing crime problem in Nassau. We would vote that those ships capable, go for an overnight in Key West instead of Nassau. An overnight in Labadee or Coco cay is not in the same league. RCI Cruisers 004 Posted June 22, 2013 #64 Share Posted June 22, 2013 My vote is with the minority. I would love to spend an extra day in the cabana ! I'd even consider giving up Cozumel as a trade off for it !

TM38Rob Posted June 22, 2013 #67 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Royal Caribbean used to offer itineraries to both CocoCay and Labadee in the same trip in the mid-1990's. The only way to get that now is to book a B2B on the Freedom of the Seas. I would rather have 2 days at CocoCay than spend the night in Haiti. Rare shipshape sam Posted June 22, 2013 #71 Share Posted June 22, 2013 I think an overnight in Key West would be great. As a thought process, if it is even possible due to blocking the sunset view of people ( :) ) at Mallory Square. I would love to arrive in Key West in the morning and leave the following afternoon! Could also include Coco Cay and Nassau to get the foreign port. I would definitely cruise that itinerary.

When the Mariner left Galveston on the way to drydock, it stopped in Key West for a test docking and left. It passed its test with flying colors. Time will tell, though I doubt it will be an overnight stop because of blocking the sunsets.:)

In the past we stopped there on the Majesty and Enchantment. Thanks for the information.
kencruisefever Posted April 3, 2014 #74 Share Posted April 3, 2014 Saw that Quantum OTS is staying overnight in Labadee next March. I'm interested to find out if there will be night time activities on the island as not sure whether they have ample lighting and whether it would be safe, etc. I know they have crew that live on the island for 3 months at a time. Just not sure if I would look forward to an overnight stay there.
