I have a couple of friends, Michael and Carmel, boarding today at Civit - Port of Rome, they are doing the Med Sector. Bon Voyage to all on the next sector.

Thats right. Its a big turnaround day for them today. I forgot that you could book this cruise 3 ways.

Other major cruise ships in port today include...

M/S Liberty of the Seas ... 3,600

M/S Norwegian Epic ... 4,228

M/S Serenade of the Seas ... 2,500

4 Ships ... 12,278 passengers

Thanks for the stats, David. Busy day in port.

Interesting that Dawn Princess is the smallest ship!

Their next port of call is Messina. They arrive there at midday. I wonder if thats to allow them a good view of Stromboli. The sail into Messina through the straits is great. The entrance to the harbour has a gold statue standing on a high column guarding the entrance to the port. When we sailed through we did not call into Messina , but sailed though the Strait after viewing Stromboli. Just from sailing through we could see the gold statue gleaming in the distance.

They will be calling in to Taormina a bit further down the coast of Sicily from Messina.

Heres the itinerary for the Med cruise....Rome to Rome.

Todays call...(tonight our time ) is Santorini.

They will be sharing the Greek Island with passengers from...

Saturday August 17, 2013

DAWN PRINCESS 07:00 – 18:00

COSTA MEDITERRANEA 08:00 – 20:00

GRAND CELEBRATION 14:00 – 20:00

Cruise ships anchor in the Caldera (crater) .

They do not need to lower their tender boats as tenders come out from the Island and bring everyone ashore.

What's the link to that webcam?, as all the webcam links I have found are dead / not working

Webcams tend to do that. I gave up makiing lists of cams as when you wanted them , they had either moved or were not working. They come and go.

I just ask Mr Google these days.:D

These are several for Santorini , but only 1 or 2 are working.:D

Pacific Sun.

It must be a sister ship :)

Yes, the pic of Grand Celebration, ex Carnival Celebration, Holiday Class ship, built in 1986, sister ship of our old Pacific Sun (ex Carnival Jubilee.) As Carnival Celebration she was involved in a collision with a freighter, back in 89.
