Do you hear extra noise if your cabin is near the elevators?

Recommended Posts

We are considering a "hump" cabin, but I see it is RIGHT near the elevators and I am concerned about noise. Thoughts?

We have had hump staterooms on Freedom and Voyager class ships and have not been bothered at all by noise from the elevator.

We stayed in an accessible balcony near the elevators and we noticed no noise from them. In fact, we were on the sixth deck right above guest services, and we had no noise issues the whole cruise. We were in the cabin pretty much just to sleep. We did take a couple of afternoon naps during the week. If you find yourself tired enough to be in the room during the day, you will prob. be asleep and wont notice outside noises anyway.

Best area on the ship, absolutely no noise.

This! Our favorite area on any ship. I've never heard anything I wouldn't have heard if our cabin was any where else. We love having the convenience of the elevators being so close.

We were in a stateroom on the hump near the elevator last December.

We didn't hear the elevators but we did hear kids running and laughing up and down the hall and sometimes they rang our doorbell!

On the other hand, it's a great location.

The elevators aren't actually OPEN to the cabin hallways...they are in a foyer. It's not clearly shown on the deck plans.

Exactly! The deck plans are misleading. We've been in a deck 7 hump several times, and loved the location.

Yes! Concur with you and also with everyone else...No Noise. We book the Starbord side hump and they are on the opposite side from the elevators anyway. As you said the deck plans make it look like the elevators are right there when you step out of your room, but not so. Even on the port side the rooms are in the hallway and not out in the foyer with the elevators. If people make noise walking past your cabin they are going to make noise all the way down the hallway, so you and every cabin is going to hear it!

Worst cabins on the whole ship. Oh the noise from the stairs and elevators is unbearable. You should leave those cabins vacate. There are some nice cabins forward and AFT through.HeHeHe

On Freedom we stay in 9640 or 9340 and they are right off the elevators. Only on one cruise did we hear noise and it was from teens yelling down the hallway to their friends.

We have sailed on Freedom many times and always look to get those cabins, and noise is not a problem. Enjoy!
