jenfromjersey Posted July 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2013 We are considering a "hump" cabin, but I see it is RIGHT near the elevators and I am concerned about noise. Thoughts?

We have had hump staterooms on Freedom and Voyager class ships and have not been bothered at all by noise from the elevator.

KreiderCarter Posted July 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2013 In a word no. You may get loud guests coming on and off but even that is rare. We prefer hump balconies and stay in them most of the time and noise has never been an issue.
leaveitallbehind Posted July 15, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Concur with the other posters - never any noise and a very desirable location for us.
JYD Hawkeye Posted July 15, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2013 We stayed in an accessible balcony near the elevators and we noticed no noise from them. In fact, we were on the sixth deck right above guest services, and we had no noise issues the whole cruise. We were in the cabin pretty much just to sleep. We did take a couple of afternoon naps during the week. If you find yourself tired enough to be in the room during the day, you will prob. be asleep and wont notice outside noises anyway. joand452 Posted July 15, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2013 With the exception of one cruise (Explorer), all our cabins have been right near elevators. No noise whatsoever!

OCruisers Posted July 15, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Maybe we should quit telling folks we love the location and have never had problems with noise ... so we won't have everyone wanting to book them. :D LuLu ~~~~
Tam Tam Posted July 15, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Best area on the ship, absolutely no noise. This! Our favorite area on any ship. I've never heard anything I wouldn't have heard if our cabin was any where else. We love having the convenience of the elevators being so close. Rare orville99 Posted July 15, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 15, 2013 The only time we've ever noticed any noise was on Radiance on New Year's eve (deck 7 hump balcony)- but then I doubt you could have found any quiet spot on that night:)

leaveitallbehind Posted July 15, 2013 #14 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Elevator noStairs yes Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Certainly can't question that, but we never heard any stair noise on the hump locations either.
JimAOk1945 Posted July 15, 2013 #15 Share Posted July 15, 2013 We were in a stateroom on the hump near the elevator last December. We didn't hear the elevators but we did hear kids running and laughing up and down the hall and sometimes they rang our doorbell! On the other hand, it's a great location. LuckiStac13*Majesty* Posted July 15, 2013 #16 Share Posted July 15, 2013 I was in the Royal Fam Suite on Majesty this past May and my bedroom was right behind the elevators.... my head of the bed was literally against the wall by the elevators. Never heard a peep.
cb at sea Posted July 15, 2013 #17 Share Posted July 15, 2013 The elevators aren't actually OPEN to the cabin hallways...they are in a foyer. It's not clearly shown on the deck plans.
Annefran Posted July 15, 2013 #18 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Hump cabins are the greatest cabins ever. We always get one whenever we cruise. We love that they are close to the stairs and elevators. No noise whatsoever. Enjoy!

jules815 Posted July 15, 2013 #20 Share Posted July 15, 2013 The elevators aren't actually OPEN to the cabin hallways...they are in a foyer. It's not clearly shown on the deck plans. Exactly! The deck plans are misleading. We've been in a deck 7 hump several times, and loved the location.
bigque Posted July 15, 2013 #21 Share Posted July 15, 2013 The elevators aren't actually OPEN to the cabin hallways...they are in a foyer. It's not clearly shown on the deck plans. Yes! Concur with you and also with everyone else...No Noise. We book the Starbord side hump and they are on the opposite side from the elevators anyway. As you said the deck plans make it look like the elevators are right there when you step out of your room, but not so. Even on the port side the rooms are in the hallway and not out in the foyer with the elevators. If people make noise walking past your cabin they are going to make noise all the way down the hallway, so you and every cabin is going to hear it! ERIE 13 Posted July 15, 2013 #22 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Worst cabins on the whole ship. Oh the noise from the stairs and elevators is unbearable. You should leave those cabins vacate. There are some nice cabins forward and AFT through.HeHeHe
palofmine Posted July 15, 2013 #23 Share Posted July 15, 2013 i love being near elevator and stairs. AS for noise, I dont know, my sleeping pills knock me out.
katiel53 Posted July 15, 2013 #24 Share Posted July 15, 2013 On Freedom we stay in 9640 or 9340 and they are right off the elevators. Only on one cruise did we hear noise and it was from teens yelling down the hallway to their friends. We have sailed on Freedom many times and always look to get those cabins, and noise is not a problem. Enjoy!
