Onboard C&A Coupons to go electronic on 7 ships beginning Oct. 1st

We have had the coupons on our seapass cards for several sailings. No one ever applied the coupon without asking we wanted to use it. If the do, make them ring it up again and tell them you were saving it.

The first week of our b2b they did not apply the coupon without us asking them to do so .... the second week they applied them and did not tell us .... DH didn't look at the receipt before signing, I guess. I'm still wondering if they got the coupons mixed up with us doing a b2b. Jan

I was disappointed that they automatically applied the buy one drink get the other one free .... I had wanted to use it on a specific glass of wine. Jan

I agree, this is really stupid as it applies to the FIRST drink you buy on the ship...so you get on board and you are thirsty so you order 2 cokes and that is your freebie used up........I also would like to use my 'free' drink against something more costly  and also have control over when I use my 'free' drink.

Going on Oasis today. It will be my first cruise with the electronic coupons. I think if you ask the server NOT to apply the discount coupon you should be able to use it when you want to. Not the first time you buy a drink.

I'll also be interested to see how they work on the Oasis Oct 5th..but I've heard we're not going to be able to combine our C&A internet coupons onto one account..as some have said..Hope this isn't true...Why do they care...what difference does it make to them

I guess it's the same amount of time, but a pain to switch to a new account after a 1/2 hour. Does anyone know if we still have to go to GS to get the Internet coupon applied?

I have a question. Before, with the paper coupons, I would use mine and my husbands coupons for spa treatments. I assume that I will only be able to use my own and my husbands will now go unused? Or can he assign his coupon to a treatment for me that will be paid by our joint account?

I like the idea of not having to remember to take coupons with us, that will be very convenient.

I would imagine you could just have DH come pick you up and tell them he's paying. I have often used DH s card myself for things ( sometimes we only bring one by mistake or at the pool) and I've never had them look twice. I suppose they could say no, but I guess they figure if you have it, it's ok! (Like some folks give their kids a card if the kids don't have charging privileges.

I have to say I like the convenience of not having to carry the dang things in my teeny weeny evening bag;) I was never a saver from cruise to cruise- I did always seem to use the ones I wanted to, since there aren't that many I use. But really how much "fraud" was there? I suppose most folks who saved say, a free photo coupon till the next voyage were still only getting 4 free photos over 2 cruises. Not printing booklets is probably saving them a bundle in printing costs.

On the Freedom you just swiped your card on any ships computer and the coupon was automatically applied.

We had them on the Oasis. Ours was not automatic. We had to tell them what our benefits were. We did not get any of the drink discounts. It states on the in room account summary that all charges will be reconciled by 10:00 the last night. Ours was never corrected, and not worth the effort to fight the front desk crowd for a few dollars, maybe that's the point?

I agree! I save my bogo coupons for expensive wine in Vintages. I would hate to have the coupon automatically applied!

This is correct. The connections can be quite slow so we ended up going over the allotted time.

Our cruise is in November, how do you get Internet or CA coupons? Are they no longer valid?

If your ship has the electronic coupons, they will be loaded on your Seapass card. The paper coupons are not valid on ships with the electronic coupons. There is a list in your cabin of coupons that are loaded on your Seapass.

Yeah, you can view your coupons in your room everyday, but only in your room.

I was really bummed on this system and then disgusted when the one coupon I tried to use was not a coupon at all...buy one get one shake was buy one shake get one shake split into two shakes. Awesome!

Wait, are you saying buy one get one shake at JR's is just one regular shake divided into two?

So instead of buy a regular shake and get a regular shake free it's pay for a regular shake and they put it in two containers?

That's probably the only coupon I would have used!

The coupon for the photo, do they have to be purchased at the same time? We tend to just buy one as we see it, so we do not have to try to "find" it again at later time. OR will they hold a photo for you?

You just " buy it" ( get it for $0- they make you sign) when you want with the seapass that has that benefit. If you have two people each with a "free" 8x10 you'd need both sea passes to get both- you can use it anytime, the pictures get piled up behind eachother all cruise or put in your folio/electronic file on newer cruise ships. iTs only good for prints- they wont print one from a digital image or make any other prints or special orders. you have to take the 8x10 already printed, but I think that coupon is only for Diamond and above.

That seems wrong, like the staff made a mistake at JRs:confused: We've always been given two whole shakes for the price of one and we've never had to pay the cover unless we were also eating, although some of the friendlier staff in JR has handed us a free plate of fries and rings while we waited for our shakes to be made. Anyway that seems like a one off boo boo- they don't pour you half a glass of wine when you use a coupon;)

That is good it will save some paper..

Hi "We're sailing away",

I noticed in your signature how many cruises you've been on....lucky you! May I ask which is your favourite cruise line and why if you don't mind. We're relatively new to cruising and trying to decide which cruise line is best.

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

Well we had the electronic coupons on our Jewel voyage early in September. I personally don't like the electronic coupons but know I could get used to it but they shouldn't have taken away the match play coupons. I understand they cannot take our seapass card at the table games, that makes sense but we should be able to present our seapass card to the casino cashier and receive chips to use at the tables, special chips so you have to play (like the ones they use in tournaments).

I used more coupons when they were paper than I did with the electronic coupons....kind of out of sight, out of mind, so I guess this program can work both ways, some will use more, some will use less.

But please work on an option for the match play.

Thanks for the update.

Hi: We called C&A and RCI today to confirm. Neither one could absolutely tell me if there will or will NOT be coupons on our Oct. 6th sailing on EX to Bermuda ~ They just were not sure in spite of the new information.....:confused: Wish they would get all their information correct before publishing an article.

Just thought I'd add this. Guess we'll be surprised next Sunday;)

Just off the Explorer today. They had paperless coupons which worked great with the exception of the free Diamond and above Internet minutes. You have to first go to guest services to apply your free Internet minutes. (they charged me anyway).

You cannot combine free internet minutes from you and your spouse into one account. When you use up minutes on one account, you need to set up another user on the other account.

There has to be a better way.

Just off the Allure. I had to go down to GS and get an access code for the free minutes. I got the one for my husband as well and after mine were used up (every time you log on with that code it tells you how many minutes you have left) I started using his code.

We had them on Navigator on 16th sept sailing, we were able to combine 3 cards (myself, DH and DS) for one internet account with 90 mins free by going to guest services before we started. They also gave us a small print out of everything on each card.

There was a note in the cabin about the new system and it said to let bar servers know if you didn't want to use the drinks coupon yet.

When I first read about the new system I didn't like the sound of it, but in practice it worked quite well.
