Oceanview77 Posted December 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2013 A few reviews lately have mentioned that there is no longer the brunch buffet on the last sea day. Please say it ain't so. That was a wonderful touch that I felt helped Celebrity stand out.
jelayne Posted December 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2013 There was a brunch buffet on our sailing in Oct. Don't recall if it was on the last sea day, but it was held. However not highly published, if another passenger hadn't mentioned it we would have probably missed it.
missyg176 Posted December 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Hi! I just read in a review that there was no grand brunch in MDR on one of the last sea days on the Reflection as in the past. I was just wondering if others experienced that and if they are getting rid of it altogether? We always enjoy that brunch, so hopefully this is something that is still happening. Thanks! However not highly published, if another passenger hadn't mentioned it we would have probably missed it. I don't understand why it is not publicized. I missed it on one of my cruises. On my recent cruise in November, I almost missed it as it is only listed where it tells you the times of the restaurants in the daily paper. Said that the MDR was closed for breakfast that day for setup for grand brunch. Gail
Northern Aurora Posted December 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2013 We did a pair of B2Bs, leaving the ship two months ago. Both cruises had the brunch, and on both legs it was on the last sea day.

No Brunch, or did the OP miss the notification in the Celebrity today?
Andy Posted December 10, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Though I did not attend, it was offered on our Eclipse sailing a few weeks ago. Perhaps Celebrity is only offering it on the longer sailings ? Just a guess.
Iluvcruising2 Posted December 10, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) We had the brunch buffet on a 13 N sailing in Nov 2013. Will post some pics on my review thread when I get to that day. Edited December 10, 2013 by Iluvcruising2

cle-guy Posted December 10, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) There was no brunch on our 7 day Reflection Nov 30-Dec 7. We were all expecting it but alas, no. [EDIT: I just read another review elsewhere that said there was one on 3rd day on our cruise....Still not sure how I missed it. Many of us in the group were talking the last day about why there was no brunch. Must have been held on a port day.] Edited December 10, 2013 by cle-guy
surebeatssailing Posted December 10, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 10, 2013 On an Infinity cruise 15 day in March the brunch was not held due to a norovirus outbreak on board.:(
Janet987 Posted December 10, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Possibly adjusted due holidays? One Christmas cruise the special holiday MDR dinner was Christmas Eve, followed by an even bigger special Brunch for Christmas Day, which was a shortened port day. Some sailings our waiters have reminded us that the next day was the "not to be missed" brunch, but read the Daily carefully, often listed with the Hours of Operation for each dining venue. thephillykid Posted December 10, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 10, 2013 It was on our Reflection cruise over Thanksgiving on the third day It sure was, we were also there and my son tried to mimic the bartender from the martini bar by lining up 12 shrimp cocktails along his arm.....delicious. wwcruisers Posted December 10, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 10, 2013 It has been my observation that the brunch is still being held on most ships, but it is not being advertised. Either your MDR waitstaff has to tell you beforehand, or, you have to scour the fine print on the back of the daily bulletin to find it.
baldercash Posted December 10, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Just finished a b2b on Millennium it was offerd on the 1st leg not the 2nd. When I inquired I was told it was cancelled due to a respiratory out break on the ship. They did enhance the buffet with ice sculptures and special deserts to compensate. Rare MicCanberra Posted December 10, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Seems to me as if the shorter cruises -7 days may not have them or that they get cancelled due to sickness on the longer cruises.:D
Rare Turtles06 Posted December 10, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 10, 2013 We had it last month on the Infinity TA but, as others have said, it's not well publicized. Had our server not mentioned it at dinner the night before, we probably would have missed it. The only place it's noted in the Daily is on the back page, under the venue open hours, where it shows the MDR open earlier than usual; that many days into a cruise, most folks no longer feel the need to check that list. Very weird that Celebrity has this big deal brunch, but doesn't publicize it.
LandlockedinTexas Posted December 10, 2013 #21 Share Posted December 10, 2013 We were on the November 16 sailing of the Eclipse and there was a brunch on one of the last sea days. Very good, and it was published in the daily activities newsletter.

Rare MicCanberra Posted December 10, 2013 #23 Share Posted December 10, 2013 I would think that the opening hours for breakfast and lunch (in the MDR) would be a clear indication of when the brunch is held.:D

Understand that it was very good. Geeez, unless someone took all meals in the buffet, it would be hard not to know about the brunch. Our "worthless CD" did mention the brunch. He/she did not address the passengers on the intercom as on some other lines. Did you go to the shows in the theatre to see the CD introduce the talent? Our ship, the Eclipse on the Nov. 16th sailing, had lines out the door from the time it opened until after the scheduled closing. The staff would admit guests as tables vacated and were cleaned. Everything that is available to all passengers is in the dailies. If you don't take five minutes to read it "dailies" you lose. Bob
