Smoking

Quick question, I'm taking my mom on the Allure of the Seas and she can't stop smoking. She doesn't care about non-smoking policies, I've convinced her to only smoke on the balcony but we got a boardwalk balcony. What happens if she smokes there?

Effective January 1, 2014 Royal caribbean disallowed smoking on all balconies so she will have to go on deck to the smoking areas or to the casino to smoke.

I think there is a $250 fine for smoking each time you get caught and if it happens repeatedly they can ask you to disembark. I would suggest you check the new policies on RCL. this may not be the ship for her. I am pretty sure she will be reported if her neighbors smell smoke. So its pretty hard to hide.

Best advice is not to unpack, don't think you will be on the ship for long.

Introduce her to e-cigarettes, they work 100% and will only ever annoy the Straw Hat Picnic Basket brigade who arrive at the cruise terminal on a tandem bicycle with toddler trailer attached and parade young Johnny around with a huge peanut allergy sign stitched on his hat:)

Have you considered rebooking on a cruise line that allows smoking in balconies if it's that much of an issue? As much as i would hate passing up a on a cruise aboard the Allure, I would hate more being fined and kicked off the ship at some port of call at my own expense.

LMAO.

One of the unintended benefits of e-gigs is how it tees off the smoke ****s.

I was going to suggest the same thing..assume since you aren't cruising until August that you haven't made final payment so cancel and rebook on another cruise line or do a land vacation.

Smoking on Boardwalk and Central Park balconies will definitely be reported since they can be seen from hundreds of other cabins inhabited by non-smokers. If she tries this nonsense, you will first be fined and then asked to leave the ship.

On a related topic, we have a central park balcony on the Allure for the 23rd. Has anybody had a problem with people smoking around them on these balconies? I would rather not have to be the smoking police.

It is well advertised that interior facing balconies always have been non-smoking. I doubt a smoker would book a Central Park or Boardwalk balcony for the purpose of smoking. The second someone lights up others will see easily where the smoke is coming from.

The $250 cleaning fine is not a fee to continue smoking. A guest may be subject to multiple fines, a guest may be subject to being debarked from the ship at the next port of call.

I have had two CP balconies and one Boardwalk balcony and have NOT detected any smoke (and I am able to detect smoke at pretty low levels), but I don't spend a large amount of time on the balcony.

Based on the attitude of many on this forum you won't have a choice, they don't care about non-smoking rules and ridicule anyone that disgrees. If you want your balcony to be smoke-free, you may need to be the smoking police. Sad but true:(

It's funny how people say its the Smokers ridiculing the non-smokers, but from every thread I've seen its been the complete other way around. Non-smokers are the most highfalutin bunch I've come across on these boards.

There now that I've got that off my keyboard, time to make some popcorn....

No need to convince her to smoke on the balcony as that is not allowed and never has been allowed for Boardwalk/Central Park cabins. Switching to an ocean view balcony will not help either as those are now no smoking. Be prepared to pay the $250 cleaning fine and if that does not deter your Mom from smoking or you from making her stop, then be ready to be disembarked from the ship at a port stop and find your own way home.

You nailed it.

LOL I'm sitting here, as a 5-year ex-smoker, thinking "OH cut her some slack" and then I remembered my own husband hated when I smoked and I would go out of my way to follow the "rules" to smoke where it was only allowed so as not to p*ss off anyone...including him... LOL this I write as I sit here drinking wine and eating popcorn but NOT SMOKING!!! Anyone got a good 5-week diet that includes wine? :D

1st time you'll first receive a verbal warning followed up later with a letter confirming the verbal warning.

Next time you'll be fined $250.00

Next time you will de disembarked at the next port.

1st time you "may" get a verbal if " you get Caught"

Second time you "may" get a $250 fine if "you get caught"

Next time you "may" be disembarked if "you get caught":)
