How do you spend the last night of your cruise?

That last evening seeing all the luggage in the halls is so depressing.

We usually pack up earlier in the evening before dinner, and then enjoy time just walking around the ship thinking about planning our next cruise. The mood of the ship is different that last night.

a popular question is "what is the first thing you do after boarding the ship?" but i am curious to hear what people enjoy doing on the last night of a cruise.

We call it "toes on the nose". After all is done, luggage is in the hall - PJ's on - bedtime toddy in hand we go to the balcony - lean WAY back in the chair - toes on the rail - and talk about the great things we enjoyed that cruise and what we are looking forward to on the next cruise.

Priceless time together. Life is too short folks.

Great way to spend the last night. A very true statement "Life is too short folks" Nobody has any guarantees on life. Live and enjoy life now!!!

I tear up and shade a tear or two Thanking God for the many blessings so I can afford a vacation. After I shake that off I try and enjoy one last night at the MDR and a show or chill in one of the bars/lounges.

I always get the packing mostly done before dinner, so I can enjoy our last evening on board. I have the clothes and sundry needs well planned so we have what we need for that evening and the next morning.

That evening includes dinner in the MDR so we can say goodbyes to our table-mates. (I take a pen and paper along to swap emails or addresses.) Also say goodbyes and give tips to the crew (tip the room steward just as we head out to dinner, and the wait staff as we leave the dining room) .

After dinner we enjoy whatever entertainment is about, until just before eleven-ish when we stop back into the cabin, change into our travel clothes, zip up the luggage and set it out in the hall.

We end the evening with a walk around the outdoor promenade, and other favorite places, saying our goodbyes to the ship. The last stop is always at the aft rail, watching the wake for a while, till we tear ourselves away and turn in.

Spend it huddled in the corner of the cabin refusing to leave. Oh wait, that happens the morning we arrive in port. :p

Actually we do what most others do; pack, have drinks, gamble, eat and just overall enjoy the evening. :)

Once I packed my Sea Pass Card in the suitcase that was picked up in the evening. I thought in the morning it meant I couldn't leave the ship.:D But no, they just made me a new one.:( They did offer me a crew position as a dishwasher, but since I already have that job in my own home I didn't think it sounded like too much fun, so I left the ship with all the other sad souls.

I pack first thing so I can enjoy the whole day, evening and night. Im one of the last ones to bed on the last night and find myself rolling my chair all over the ship finding the party until I just cant do it anymore then I go to the cabin. Severe depressions sits in and I find myself tossing and turning and cant sleep much at all.

It makes for a LONG 9 hour drive home that day :(

Id be lying if I said a few tears have never been shed.

Ive often wondered for those who are fortunate enough to cruise 4 - 5 or more times a year if the last night is still so sad.

Your post brought a smile to my face....We do the same here. I usually try not to drink the last night, pack early and just relax and take it all in. It is miserable getting off the ship early the next day.....But way way more miserable with a hangover!!!We take it light the last night and get enough sleep so the travel back to reality isn't so harsh.

Exactly! I used to get very depressed on the last day/night of a cruise, but in recent years have come to realize that we are so fortunate to be able to take 2, sometimes 3 vacations a year (DH likes land trips too,) and I just remind myself that all good things must come to an end and that there will be more wonderful adventures ahead. Life is good. Don't waste time being sad!

We get most of our packing done before dinner. Then we go to dinner and the farewell show. Some times we have left over OBC so we go to the casino and make our last withdraw in the way of cash. We are like every one else we don't want to get off.

We are getting ready to leave Monday for cruise #4 out of 5 for this year. I can never sleep the last night, and I 'm always up early the next morning. Not sure if I would call it depression but I'm always sad to leave!

We also pack early in the day so we can enjoy the last night. Usually its a night cap in the Schooner bar and a walk around the promenade deck. We now take a day or two to get home, if we have cruised out of Florida, its a stop at St. Augustine or Savannah Ga. This has definitely taken the sting out of having the cruise come to an end.
